The Breath of Fury + Hero of Bladehold won't work if you stick breath of fury to a token that the hero made. Those tokens enter the battlefield tapped and attacking and after Breath of Fury makes another combat, the tokens can't attack because they don't have haste.

Unless you can give me a decent idea of what to remove in favor of Boros Reckoner , he's staying out because he's just a Spitemare that gets first strike.

Have you considered Tablet of the Guilds + Rise of the Hobgoblins to gain tons of life?

February 15, 2013 11:41 p.m.

Mewgle says... #12

Sadly, that doesn't work. Tablet of the Guilds requires I cast a spell to gain the life. Rise of the Hobgoblins will only get me 2 life for that.

That and Tablet of the Guilds isn't that great of a card.

Smite is bad. There are so many things that are far better than it.

You've got a lot of X cost things. I'd almost suggest dropping Boros Signet for Doubling Cube . You could also use a Mana Vault , Thran Dynamo and an Everflowing Chalice , though I don't know what you might take out.

That's the main problem I have with mana rocks.I never know what to take out for them.

Thanks for the suggestions though, I'll see if some of these changes are possible.

Metallica - "Don't Tread on Me"?

Solid deck. I don't know what to suggest to replace but I do have a few cards you might want to consider:

  • Twilight Shepherd as a "Wrath" recovery. If you (or anyone else in multiplayer game) are playing an aggressive deck the board is going to get blown up. Twilight Shepherd 's persist ability can get you back up and running quickly until someone dedicates resources to deal with it.
  • Anger you're running 9x+ Mountain s. Your strategy is about taking advantage of multiple combat phases each turn and to some extent producing creature tokens. Granting all your creatures haste would maximize your damage each turn and your opponents would have less time to react.
  • Insurrection Along the same lines of maximizing your multiple combat phases per turn, taking control of ALL THE CREATURES until the end of turn can net you a lot of damage against your now defenseless (more-or-less) opponents.

On a more general note (no pun intended... okay, you caught me, it totally was intended), your General has a CMC of 6. I don't know how much aggro you get with Aurelia, the Warleader , but it might be wise to put some protection in. For example: Darksteel Plate , Lightning Greaves , Swiftfoot Boots , or Whispersilk Cloak . Also, maybe something like Nim Deathmantle to recur your General for cheap (CMC 4).

Si vis pacem, para bellum.

Oh yes finally some good suggestions.

Twilight Shepherd I never really considered seeing how all of the other 6 drops in the deck do something the turn they come out. For example Angelic Skirmisher gives my army first strike, vigilance, or lifelink (or a combination of the two if I get an extra combat), True Conviction gives my army double strike and lifelink, and Sunblast Angel is an asymmetrical sweeper.

Anger I never thought of. Mainly because the lack of the ability to fetch creatures or reliable way to get it into the yard. High Market can remedy this but it doesn't solve the all-important fact of no reliable way to get it into my hand. However it is a better way to give my army haste than Urabrask is since of the whole graveyard thing.

Insurrection YES YES AND MORE YES. I've been trying to hammer that into this deck, what with a Kemba, Kha Regent , The Mimeoplasm , Jor Kadeen, the Prevailer , and Kaalia of the Vast in my meta. The problem is that I don't have anything to take out for it, which makes me pretty sad because it's BEGGING me to put it in the deck.

I don't know how much aggro I attract with Aurelia, I haven't used the deck enough to determine that. If the deck were Voltron then protecting Aurelia would be top priority, however the deck does not require Aurelia to beat a ton of face. She's pretty much there for the extra combats or the Exalted backup plan.

Brion Stoutarm is a possibility in this deck adds another sack outlet too. If you're looking for more haste option Urabrask the Hidden isn't a bad choice plus slows down your opponents critters from blocking. A good 5 drop is Baneslayer Angel since you know she has 5 abilities for five mana.... Hope it helps...

Hmm.. Brion Stoutarm is kind of a whole different strategy, he doesn't quite fit in with the rest of the deck, despite being a sac outlet. Urabrask the Hidden I've been considering for some time now, he's pretty damn great. And Baneslayer Angel .. well I'd like the creatures in the deck to do a little more than just turn sideways.

Your curve is very high/clunky for a deck that wants to be aggressive (yes, even in this format) and the creature count seems low. I recommend playing more cheap mana rocks and more creatures with CMC 4 or less. After that, you will probably need a bit more card advantage to avoid running out of gas. You could also consider Armageddon effects to steal the game if you can establish board advantage.

Recommended cards:

Coldsteel Heart

Emeria Angel

Soltari Champion

Mirror Entity

Skullclamp

Wheel of Fortune

Prismatic Lens

Mind Stone

Stoneforge Mystic

Sword of Light and Shadow

card:Wayfarer's Bauble

Mirran Crusader

Fellwar Stone

Land Tax

Kor Sanctifiers

Blade Splicer

Precursor Golem

Cards that seem bad: (either too slow/clunky or too small an effect)

goblin war drums

aggravated assault

luminarch ascension

gideon jura

signal pest

odric, master tactician

thespian's stage

mistveil plains

angelic skirmisher

utvara hellkire

wild ricochet

master warcraft

boros charm

Thanks for the suggestions.. I think. A lot of the cards you suggested seem to be not good in a deck like this one. Mirror Entity is already in the deck. Armageddon effects I find to be very winmore or something that just unnecessarily slows the game down.

Out of the suggestions you gave me I'd only really use Stoneforge Mystic and an Equipment Package and Land Tax. Other than Skullclamp everything else is sub par or just plain not good in this deck.

Goblin War Drums gives me mass evasion, something that Red doesn't do very well

Why tell me to remove Aggravated Assault ? You obviously didn't get the point of the deck. Extra combat phases is what this deck does, and Relentless Assault on a stick is kind of .. I dunno GOOD.

Luminarch Ascension gives me a steady stream of 4/4 flyers when quested. In a multiplayer format, this thing can get quested in a hurry.

Gideon Jura 's forced attack leaves an opponent wide open. And even turns into a dude and joins in with the killing. He's good. End of story.

Signal Pest I use purely for the Battle Cry. +1/+0 to my army every time it attacks. And with multiple combat phases, it adds up.

Did you even read what Odric, Master Tactician does? He allows my army to get passed an opponent's or pick off problem creatures with my own.

card:Thespian's Stage is a clone land. Getting someone's Maze of Ith or killing an Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth or card:Gaea's Cradle is kind of a good thing.

Mistveil Plains allows me to reuse cards. Especially with Sunforger .

Angelic Skirmisher grants one of three great things for an army to have. She might come out for something better than anything you've suggested. Maybe Urabrask the Hidden .

Utvara Hellkite makes 6/6 Dragons. With Mirror Entity this guy can get pretty ridiculous. That is, if he doesn't eat a removal spell, but what is haste anyway? Besides, if he comes out, he'll come out for something better than what you've suggested.

Do you like stealing Time Stretch ? Or removal spells? I do. That's why Wild Ricochet is in here. Also Sunforger .

Master Warcraft does what Odric does. Off of Sunforger .

Did you even read what Boros Charm does? Did you? Shoot a planeswalker for 4, negates wraths and mass LD for me, or give a creature double strike. Doesn't have to be mine. It does a lot more than you give it credit for. ..also Sunforger .

But again, thanks for the suggestions.

I guess you play in a really casual meta. To me the deck looks very slow and clumsy, just playing one big spell each turn starting on about turn 5. My suggestions mostly address the speed and efficiency of the deck.
