[Grenzo, Dungeon Warden] - Grandee Slam

Commander / EDH BR (Rakdos) Casual Goblins Midrange Tokens

Reliquarian

Grandee Slam is a toolbox-y, value based take on the classic goblin archetype. The deck is not a combo deck, but it does get its name from my favorite combo, the ol' Grandee Slam.

Due to the high concentration of goblins in the deck it can make use of cards like Goblin Ringleader and Muxus, Goblin Grandee to great effect, while also having a high chance of flipping goblins off the bottom from Grenzo, Dungeon Warden's ability.

The deck is weak to flyer's (I guess most goblins are afraid of heights) so it has lots of ways to remove opposing creatures with goblins like Gempalm Incinerator, Munitions Expert, Stingscourger, Goblin Cratermaker, Lightning Crafter, and several others. Moreover, Lightning Crafter and Boggart Mob not only provide benefits on their own, but their champion ability allows you to protect key cards, get extra ETB triggers off cards like Muxus, Goblin Grandee, and often they allow you to come out on top of a boardwipe since whatever goblin you champion will come back down after the board is removed (sometimes allowing you to drop a Muxus on an empty board and instantly rebuild, or simply have a Krenko, Mob Boss in play when the dust settles).

Moreover, the deck has a number of ways to give your goblins evasion so they can swing in for lethal. Using cards like Legion Loyalist, Caterwauling Boggart, and occasionally the classic Goblin King you can get past whatever creatures your opponents may have in play (if you don't already have enough goblins to go over the top). Additionally, since the mana base of this deck is set up for it you can afford to run Magus of the Moon to not only disrupt your opponents mana bases, but also make lots of friends (oh and turn on mountainwalk so that you can make your goblins unblockable with Goblin King).

Finally, I chose not to include Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker in this list because it goes infinite with not only the Snoop + Harbinger combo, but also with a number of other cards in the deck. When I tested it previously the deck turned into a race to find Kiki, which is less than exciting after a game or two (especially when you could be blood mooning people). However, with the number of goblin tutors this list runs, you could easily include Kiki-Jiki if you wanted to increase the power level and go for infinite. So depending on your play style, Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker may be an inclusion you would want to look into, as it fits very well in this build.

This combo hinges on Goblin Recruiter and Muxus, Goblin Grandee. It starts by playing goblin recruiter, then stacking the top of your deck with 11 goblins off the recruiter trigger (with Muxus, Goblin Grandee at the top of the stack, and Goblin Ringleader within the top 7 goblins). Then if you don't already have a way to draw a card you must pass the turn (I know, riveting stuff). Once you draw Muxus off the top you cast him or put him into play off say a Goblin Lackey for instance. When his ability triggers you get whatever 5 goblins you wanted plus a Goblin Ringleader. Then the ringleader triggers and you get the last 4 goblins off the top that you had tutored into your hand. This leaves you with a Muxus, a Ringleader, and 5 of any goblin you want in play (such as a Krenko, Mob Boss and a haste enabler for example, along with whatever other nonsense you've got), plus you end with 4 other goblins in your hand. From here if you can't just win the game already, you can use a Goblin Wizard to cheat any goblin with the champion keyword (such as Boggart Mob or Lightning Crafter) into play to both protect your Muxus, and also get more triggers off his ability. Or you can protect some other goblin you have in play (but come on, we both know you're always gunna go for the big buxus).

Let me know what you think of the list! If you have any suggestions (or questions about a strange inclusion) feel free to leave a comment below.
