Lightning Crafter Discussion

xJonahSlayerx on Black Red Goblin

I like this, but I think red goblin is much better with cards like Dragon Fodder and Krenko's Command, but then I use Goblin Grenade and Lightning Bolt for the finishing burn. Plus I use stuff like Lightning Crafter those are always useful, like a little Lightning Bolt. Goblin deck is important to be fast, this just isn't fast enough, there is a reason why people love Goblin Guide.

I don't think the card would read "greatest total amount" because the "greatest amount" combined with "this turn" and "by a source" (not "by a spell or ability", then it would be clear that it's only 2 dmg) implies that it is the total.

the key to this problem is that the "source" is the permanent purphoros, not the triggered ability.

It's the same with cards that give protection of a certain colour. Take Eight-and-a-Half-Tails and something like Lightning Crafter for example...you can make the lightning crafter (the source) white and give a creature protection (prevent damage from a white source) and the ability won't be able to damage that creature. The source is always the permanent the ability comes from, not the ability itself. This is also why you can't change the colour of an ability on the stack and stuff like that...

Long time Krenko player here. The artifacts you have aren't great.

Look into Sol Ring obviously, Thousand-Year Elixir to use Krenko multiple times a turn, Thornbite Staff, and Umbral Mantle more on these two later, use Swiftfoot Boots to protect Krenko. Additionally you'll want some mana, so Ashnod's Altar is a great card here.

For Instants and Sorceries, you'll want Krenko's Command, Dragon Fodder, Goblin War Strike, Hordeling Outburst, Massive Raid.

Goblinwise, Skirk Prospector and Goblin Chirurgeon are key. If budget isn't too much of a problem you'll want Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker and (the not as expensive) Lightning Crafter. Grenzo, Havoc Raiser can be used as an alternate wincon and way to take out problematic creatures or players in multiplayer games. Purphoros, God of the Forge, while not a Goblin is too good not to have in the deck.

Enchantments. Believe me when I say this: Goblinslide is trash. It simply doesn't cut it. Look into the following: Boggart Shenanigans, Goblin Bombardment, Goblin Warrens, Impact Tremors, Mana Echoes, and Quest for the Goblin Lord.

Check out my deck for ideas. I don't know if it is too competitive for you: Krenko and Kiki-Jiki's Goblin Horde

Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle can be cut i think. Think over the games you've played, when was the last time you wanted to draw 7 lands, and how often do you need to deal 3 damage to something that you keep a CIPT land in your combo/aggro deck? Another mountain could do well

Goblin Wardriver is this strong enough?

Goblin Gardener not strong enough?

Lightning Crafter this card is another infininte combo with Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker. have kiki in play, another goblin and a sac outlet. play lightning crafter, champion the random goblin, then have kiki copy the crafter.the token champions kiki, taps to do 3, then you sac the token. Kiki comes back into play untapped and ready to do it again. The cool part about the combo is that you can search it all from Goblin Recruiter.

Breath of Fury is a cool card i've had success with when i had my Krenko deck up and running. you need at least one opponent to have no blockers, a mass haste outlet, one goblin and krenko on the field. enchant the random goblin with Breath of Fury, attack the player with no creatures with just that creature. when it connects and triggers, tap krenko to make 2 tokens, sac the creature with the enchantment and attach to one of the new tokens. repeat until you have a large enough army to kill each player.

Ancient Tomb and City of Traitors speed up krenko

Brightstone Ritual could led to explosive turns

Outpost Siege can serve two purposes, and extra Boggart Shenanigans or "card draw"

Mana Echoes can go infininte with Staff of Domination, Umbral Mantle, Sword of the Paruns or any of the sac a creature get mana things you have and Krenko.

If you're running Ruination I'd take a hard look at the lands you run, and Reliquary Tower and Buried Ruin don't seem nessary for the deck.

also I'm not conviced on Extraplanar Lens, you're not a big mana deck so strip mine'ing a land to get more mana dosen't seem worth it.

Gamble might be something to look into as well. Just be aware that it's a gamble!

Mogg Infestation is interesting, what are you mostly doing with this? Targeting youself with Purphoros, God of the Forge out? Targeting an oppopent with Goblin Sharpshooter out? another 2 card combo you can't tutor for?

This is a good start and you have the foundation of a strong Krenko deck here. There's some changes we could make though.

Aside from adding a lot of fast mana (Chrome Mox, Mox Diamond, Mana Vault, Mana Crypt, Lotus Petal) I think some improvements could be made to your creature suite. Sensation Gorger is a bit of a trap. With only 20 goblins, he typically doesn't get to do anything reliably. Voracious Dragon is win-more, and Goblin King is not needed. Zealous Conscripts should be a Lightning Crafter, which also goes infinite with Kiki and one of your plentiful sac outlets and can be tutored for.

I found Thousand-Year Elixir and Illusionist's Bracers underwhelming. They can make lots of goblins, but you don't actually need very many to start going off. I cut these from my list a long time ago and have not missed them.

Hammer of Purphoros being an artifact is a bad thing; it's easier to remove. Replace with Fervor. I'd cut Impact Tremors and Boggart Shenanigans. They just don't do enough unless you're actually going off. Aggravated Assault and Breath of Fury are win-more in a Krenko list; I'd drop those as well. Throw in a Dragon Fodder. Mizzium Mortars is... well, not a good thing in a deck that's trying to go wide with tiny creatures.

From the Ashes should be either Blood Moon or Ruination.

I am personally not a fan of Goblin War Strike and similar effects. These at most kill one opponent and can be very clunky. They don't do anything until you have enough goblins to actually kill people.

I replaced Reforge the Soul with Godo, Bandit Warlord, which has been amazing.

Notable cards that are missing: Chandra, Torch of Defiance, Sensei's Divining Top, Inventors' Fair, Rummaging Goblin (draw and a goblin), Treasonous Ogre, Goblin Bushwhacker, Beetleback Chief (combo piece with Kiki!), Goblin Ringleader (makes Recruiter a million times better), Sparksmith (removal), Ancient Tomb, Cavern of Souls, Crystal Vein, Strip Mine, Wasteland, Hanweir Battlements, Mind Stone and Gamble. All of those cards are fantastic and will improve your deck. Please let me know if you're not clear on why.

Or Lightning Crafter? Too degenerate?

ComradeJim270 on Like a Boss!

I considered it, but decided against it. It's too mana-intensive and it's clunky outside of the combo. Yes it untaps Krenko once or lets me steal someone's commander and sac it, but I simply don't have enough room for another 5-drop. It also isn't a goblin, which means it's very hard to tutor for.

My preferred Kiki combo is with Lightning Crafter and a sac outlet. I can also go infinite with an untap engine, Ashnod's Altar/Mana Echoes and either Siege-Gang Commander or Beetleback Chief (or several other variations of that combo).

One of the things about this deck that is both fun and challenging is that there are many, many different combos. Most of them do the same thing but my solution to mono-red's poor card draw and tutor ability was to run a lot of redundant pieces, and some of them require different lines of play than others.

yungxak on Gonna Harvest Me Some Permanents

Scarecrone is a deviation from the primary goal of the deck (blowing up permanents). While it is a scarecrow, I will never let Reaper King slap the grave. Too many reanimation shenanigans can occur that aren't interactive for my deck type and would ultimately cause me to waste resources on retrieval. Even if that isn't enough for you, I don't run nearly enough artifact creatures to see this as a useful option.

Conspiracy is in as a loop enabler, not to turn everything into scarecrows. The type-specific champions (Boggart Mob, Lightning Crafter, and Wren's Run Packmaster) as well as cards like Restoration Angel, Moggcatcher, and Skyshroud Poacher all become far more flexible with Conspiracy. It's primarily for assembling the combo when my primary methods fail and gets removed prior to hitting critical mass. Think Xenograft would be easier to work with?

Rite of Replication is a lovely toy. I'm aware of it's used, including how it makes Reaper King and Hagra Diabolist.

Got any suggestions for other cards to abuse?
