Stingscourger Discussion

mewbusi on Goblins with a side of combo

vomitpile Legion Warboss has a much more lasting effect on the board state while allowing for more defensive play if needed. This is mainly due to the mentor effect that is fairly useful if it comes in after Metallic Mimic allowing you to buff creatures that might have not received the Mimic's Effects. While it might not be as damaging as Goblin Rabblemaster I feel that it is much more reserved in its play and responds better to spot removal.

Honestly if you just remove two of the Murderous Redcaps and one of either the Stingscourger or Subterranean Scout you would be able to run both. That or you can just remove the Legion Warbosses and replace them with the Goblin Rabblemasters if you want a more aggressive deck. Honestly I updated the deck to its current state for testing of the replacement in the next few weeks.

I guess it would be a better idea to run both to test their effects so I'll update the deck today.

@louisjrt Thanks. I really appreciate your suggestions. I have Goblin War Strike and Boggart Shenanigans in the deck already so they are certainly useful to me. Bloodmark Mentor was actually cut pretty recently, but I still think it's a decent option. Stingscourger is also pretty good in my opinion. Mogg Maniac and Goblin Taskmaster look like they could be fun to build around, in fact I'd never seen the latter before. Jeering Instigator is interesting, but you'd probably be better served using a cheaper option mana-wise like Kari Zev's Expertise. Final Fortune and Relentless Assault are certainly playable as well if you are so inclined, Aggravated Assault is another option if you favour repeatability.

I like a lot of the structure here, but there are a few cards that feel sort of 'Jammed in' without a great deal of thought about how they work together- almost like there are two good decks in here that need to be seperated.

Removal package and sideboard are super sweet- no complaints there. Manabase seems solid too.

But when it comes to creatures and spells, you've got this weird split of 'go wide' Souls/palladin/sorin and 'alesha combos' (without the associated tools to get them in the graveyard).

Personally, I'd go all in with one of those strategies rather than splitting them up. Either the traditional mardu tokens route, or just lingering souls (it is just that good) alongside some more 1-2 drops with sacrifice effects (Generator Servant, Mogg War Marshal,Stingscourger, Mogg Fanatic, Zulaport Cutthroat, Blood Artist Felidar Cub, Bomat Courier, Burrenton Forge-Tender, Hope of Ghirapur, Skirk Prospector, Viscera Seer etc. ) or Draw/discard effects (Insolent Neonate,Cathartic Reunion,Faithless Looting) to rush out something like Gigantomancer or Noosegraf Mob.

Still, it looks a lot more solid than my first deckbuilding attempts.

Ignition Team was another card that I was originally considering and removed for Stingscourger.

Pack Rat is actually a very interesting idea for the deck for the discard ability.

Thanks for your suggestions!

My original idea was that you can always sacrifice a goblin token generated by Mogg War Marshal or Kathari Bomber if Stingscourger is not around. Because they will still put counters on both Gavony Unhallowed and the Mortician Beetle and hit your opponent for five. But I am not sure how to balance it out with the other creatures... I meant it mosty as safeguard in case you get stuck in the beginning of the game with no Beetle out.
