Stingscourger

Creature — Goblin Warrior

Echo (At the beginning of your upkeep, if this came under your control since the beginning of your last upkeep, sacrifice it unless you pay its echo cost.)

Have you considered Stingscourger?

Looks good! You might like these: Herald of Leshrac, Rotting Rats, Palace Jailer (this one is neat because you can sack and reanimate him to exile multiple creatures. opps won't get their creatures back unless they become monarch. he also replaces himself with the monarch draw which is nice), Dark-Dweller Oracle, Mangara of Corondor (activate the ability, then sack Mangara while the ability is on the stack. it will resolve but Mangara will not be exiled), Skullclamp, Pitiless Plunderer, Grim Haruspex, Shifting Shadow, Fanatical Devotion, Bishop of Rebirth, Custodi Soulcaller, Stingscourger, Crackling Doom, Siege-Gang Commander, Bounty Agent

Burnished Hart is a little slow, but its worth it for me. ESPECIALLY with Feldon of the Third Path late game combined with valakut is one of my favorite wincons. Ramp and bolts all in one!

Stingscourger will be eventually cut for something else, haven't decided yet. He is eh. It's cool when he costs 1 mana due to medalion and I have double ETB's through Panharmonichron. Otherwise, eh.

Humble Defector and Starke of Rath have both been useful, humble moreso. Just played a game today where I had Homeward Path out. Even if I didn't I made a deal with the boros player (I run 2 gauntlets to help him and myself) to give it back to me since we both needed card draw.

Regarding Outpost Siege and Light Up the Stage , both seem cool but im worried I might not wanna cast the top card and it would just stay in exile. Thoughts on Stolen Strategy instead? Costs 1 more mana but its each opponent, messes with topdeck tutors (prevalent in my meta).

Im gonna remove Jaya's Immolating Inferno for Pyrohemia , that just seems like fun!

Smuggler's Copter - Is the looting helpful? Crew 1 seems very easy with Norin.

As for Cloudstone Curio , I know it's a broken card. I will need to playtest it to fully understand how broken it is!

Norin players unite!

Burnished Hart - I've found this to be just too slow and expensive, and just underwhelming and frustrating. Same with Feldon of the Third Path . How have they worked for you? I'm also curious about Stingscourger - i ended up cutting it. By the way, I was underwhelmed by Terrain Generator .

How have Humble Defector and Starke of Rath performed? Not sure if they seems worth it

Some of my first additions to this list would be- Pyrohemia , Outpost Siege Smuggler's Copter , Cloudstone Curio and Light Up the Stage .

It's got legs!

2-1 Jeskai Control twice (This was about a week ago so don't remember the details)

Some results from trice tonight:

  • Mono-red phoenix (0-2):

    • G1: This took me by surprise as at first, I thought I was playing a weird version of burn.
    • G2: I overcorrected when I side boarded in for my mistake in G1 and ended up with dead cards in hand, (Against this matchup don't bring in both leyline AND surgical, just one of them is fine)
  • Goblin aggro (2-1)

    • G1: Hexdrinker is a workhorse. Tossing it mana while holding one open to play push proved to be a very good play. He quickly set the game on a 3 turn clock shortly after, as maelstrom pulse cleared blockers and then he went to 6/6 progenitus mode after.
    • G2: I misplayed on this game and lost. I let a Goblin Instigator hit me in the face without understanding how it fully worked or what the goblins were capable of. Never making that mistake again.
    • G3: Classic Rock hand with a T2 bob that was instantly bounced and replayed by Stingscourger . Followed that by a t4 Plague Engineer and cleared the board of a Goblin Matron and a Munitions Expert . I have to say, that card basically put a massive stax on the entire goblin deck. Very impressive the kind of work that Plague Engineer puts in. Bob was removed and I closed with just the engineer and some man lands. I had damnation in my hand as a backup but it was not needed :)

Thanks for chipping in some info JKRice! So I've actually debated multiple times on the idea of Skirk Prospector in the deck, and while I think that it's a very good card and definitely has a place in a goblins deck in modern, I don't think it's this deck. I feel it's more of a card that would be run in a BR goblin storm build with other cards like Frogtosser Banneret and Goblin Warchief as your cost reducers and cards like Mogg War Marshal , Goblin Instigator , Sling-Gang Lieutenant , and Siege-Gang Commander as pseudo rituals and killing your opponent with Pashalik Mons or Impact Tremors . That being said I do agree that lowering the curve would help. I'm thinking about dropping one Sling-Gang Lieutenant and Goblin Ringleader each and adding in a Stingscourger and Goblin Cratermaker . I also haven't had a chance to play Goblin Trashmaster yet so I don't know if it's on the chopping block yet. But I'll be very conscious of how it plays while testing.
