Felhide Spiritbinder

Creature — Minotaur Shaman

Inspired — Whenever Felhide Spiritbinder becomes untapped, you may pay 1{R}. If you do, put a token onto the battlefield that's a copy of another target creature except it's an enchantment in addition to its other types. It gains haste. Exile it at the beginning of the next end step.

Felhide Spiritbinder Discussion

hungry000 on converting an old deck into ...

I'd say those three are too slow in general, but Felhide Spiritbinder is okay enough if you're not playing too competitively.

In the competitive Modern scene, Aether Vial is used in Merfolk, Death and Taxes, Humans, Spirits, and sometimes GW. I don't think I'd say it's commonly used (as in not every creature deck plays it), but it's definitely a really good card and quite sought after. It's not worth buying a set for your minotaur deck. Vial works best in aggro decks with a high density of 2 cmc creatures, if it were to be put in a deck with more 3 cmc creatures it would be a slower midrangey/tempo type like Spirits or GW (the type of deck that plays Flickerwisp , Blade Splicer , Kitchen Finks , Eldrazi Displacer ) since Vial makes so much free value. Minotaurs has a tendency to go on the higher cmc side of things, but it's an aggro deck that does not tend to go for the value plan which makes it kind of weird with Aether Vial.

Also, I'd say Heartless Summoning is even faster than Aether Vial in minotaurs because of Ragemonger ... You can potentially drop your entire hand on turn 3 with a Heartless Summoning T2-->Ragemonger next turn, whereas with Aether Vial you'd have to wait until turn 4 before you could start cheating in 3 cmc creatures.

Thanks for your advice hungry000 and Funkydiscogod. i will look into Heartless Summoning as well as Aether Vial .

i will chase down a few copies of Neheb, the Worthy he seems quite useful. i also have copies of a bunch of other minotaurs but im not sure if they would be too slow for the format e.g Felhide Spiritbinder , Lord of Shatterskull Pass , Minotaur Aggressor

Would you say that Aether Vial is a commonly used card in the Modern format? because one copy of it is worth more than my whole minotaur deck as it stands so four copies is quite the investment for a budget player like myself. my LGS has them at $56.25 per copy.

Mazirek, Kraul Death Priest is the best Vulturous Zombie for a deck like this.

On the lower end of the curve Abyssal Gatekeeper makes them sac two creatures when you sac it.

Whip of Erebos as a way to recur your creatures for another sac effect. Speaking of Erebos... Dictate of Erebos is a Grave Pact that is a little easier on colors and has flash.

There are a few inspired cards that make enchantment creatures for you to abuse as well. Forlorn Pseudamma has some evasion which might make it easier to tap. I personally love Felhide Spiritbinder because... well, I once copied a Blightsteel Colossus ... so maybe I have a bias.

I like your method of making clues to sac for card, or sometimes to clear the board of pesty artifacts. If you find you need more card draw look into Viridian Revel , there are always artifacts around.

You seem to be building a swarm style deck. Look into some swarm pump effects Beastmaster Ascension comes to mind.

Timmy, why have I never looked at your decks? This is awesome. You wrote you want to be a little on the long game side of the range, so how about some Felhide Spiritbinder?

I have my own minotaurs list that is somewhat similar to yours. A card I reaĺly like is Felhide Spiritbinder. It can add some late game power while also being a powerful fourdrop.

You had me at "steaks" :D

Deck looks cool, but if gorehorn minotaurs is that bad that you even include in your description that you plan on discarding it, why even play it? A card i really like in my minotaurs list is Deathbellow Raider. It's a lot better than it looks, and it's a decent two-drop, which is something minotaurs really want. If you rather need another four-drop, Fanatic of Mogis or Felhide Spiritbinder are powerful options. Maybe took at my list? Yo' mama got banged by a bull!.

You need to streamline your game plan. Put in ten manarocks with cmc 2 or less.

You have a lot of equipment and random artifacts that don't really work with your gameplan. I honestly feel that you can cut everything to make space for the mana rocks.

Add some haste outlets like Fervor, Ogre Battledriver, Anger.

You may want to make your creature suite more lean. Keep the 5 cost dragons, maybe add Glorybringer, Scourge of Valkas, Mirrorwing Dragon. I would cut all other 6cmc or higher dragons except the ones that give useful abilities. Keep Utvara hellkite, Balefire dragon, Scourge of the Throne, Hellkite tyrant, Dragonlord Kolaghan, Flameblast. You should have no other creatures above cmc 6. These dragons will be your prime targets for reanimation via your commander.

Add in aggressive creatures such as Harsh Mentor, Rampaging Ferocidon, Urabrask the Hidden, Grenzo, Havoc Raiser, Felhide Spiritbinder, Tree of Perdition, Fanatic of Mogis etc. These will fill out your early aggression. Make these the bulk of your force.

To really make the game go fast, use stuff like Havoc Festival, Manabarbs, Bedlam and Mogis, God of Slaughter.
