bushido_man96, that’s a good idea. I’ll have to try it out. In all truth, however, the deck usually wins fairly quickly so it doesn’t often become an issue. But I’m not saying it never becomes an issue. I’m open to experimenting with this deck. Thanks :)

Nice. He needs to be unblockable—Whispersilk Cloak.

August 13, 2020 10:21 a.m.

Nice! We should run Willbreaker and Archetype of Imagination because they both have great synergy with your commander and provide for a brutal combo.

We could run Thassa's Oracle alongside Laboratory Maniac for a alternate with your Leveler combo (nice combo btw! ;) )

Card draw may be a minor issue—and you’ve got looting going on to fill up the graveyard—-so consider Treasure Cruise and Dig Through Time. Look at Enclave Cryptologist for a useful 1-drop. Deep Analysis can be cast from the GY.

We should run Fierce Guardianship because it’s amazing.

Note: Funny that you’re working a deck featuring cephalids—-I am as well! Stay tuned.

Nice! I’m sure you’re aware that Doubling Season should be on the acquire list. If you include it, tailor the list to PWs that ult when they ETB. Same with Deepglow Skate + Deadeye Navigator. The Chain Veil + Teferi, Temporal Archmage is huge value. Also, check out Tamiyo, the Moon Sage + Rewind for shenanigans. Brago, King Eternal gives you a second activation per turn. Rings of Brighthearth doubles activations. Humility is also funny and allows PWs to dominate :))))

AllenM8, I considered that one before, but Impact Tremors was better for the value. I really appreciate you though!

AllenM8, you read my mind about Sylvan Library!!! It’s in the mail already :) but I’ll run both, or maybe I’ll replace Sensei's Divining Top with Mirri's Guile :)))

It does clarify except there is one fundamental problem: Flusterstorm is actually also counter unless opponent pays 1, not 2, as you seem to believe.

You’re thinking of Spell Pierce, which I also previously recommended.

Thanks! Good luck.

AllenM8, thank you very much for your interest in my Stangg deck and fir your thoughtful suggestions.

Let’s go through each one by one.

Fiery Emancipation is the most viable recommendation. It would be a welcome addition, were it one-sided. Unfortunately, with a deck as slow and cumbersome as this, we don’t want to give any resource that doesn’t break parity to the opponent. He or she will certainly outclass us with it.

Oracle of Mul Daya is the second most viable addition, however this deck only runs 34 lands. It is less-likely to top deck a land or have extra lands in hand than those decks that benefit most from her. This deck would be more likely to run more immediate land acceleration such as Farseek or Migration Path (which is strictly better than Explosive Vegetation, which we already run). Another mana dork would also be in order.

Beast Whisperer is a house that dominates builds that pump out creature spells. This deck, however, pumps out creature tokens and sparse creature spells. The average CMC is 4-5, so we can only expect to cast a beefy boi every couple of turns. As a result, we won’t be drawing much off of it.

Guardian Project, again, focuses on non-token creatures.

I do really appreciate all of your recommendations. The deck just needs a different treatment. That said, if you have any more recommendations, I am grateful to hear them.

Thank you!

This list should be running Deadeye Navigator.

I love this! We could safely go down to 34 lands and include Nature's Lore, Rampant Growth, and Migration Path / Explosive Vegetation. We may want to find a spot for Ash Barrens, and more cycling lands. Exploration is better for decks that look to win on turn 3, but it fizzles in the long game. We could replace it with more immediate acceleration. We probably don’t need Overwhelming Stampede since We have Craterhoof Behemoth, so we could replace it with Finale of Devastation. This deck shares a lot of themes with my Stangg deck (which is optimized), so if you’re looking for any ideas feel free to mine it. Good work!

Yeah, Venser is the gem.

Great concept. Perhaps we can abuse Ancestral Knowledge with blink effects. It’s a highly situational cards but in this deck is could be busted as it provides a shuffle, top-10 peek, and reorder. Good luck!

Nice. Here’s a few suggestions: Siren's Call + Festival, Lightmine Field, Holy Day, Abu Ja'far, Beloved Chaplain, Commander Eesha. Good luck.

Swell deck. As for recommendations, Venser, the Sojourner has synergy with your commander, creates massive shenanigans with Gilded Drake, and allows us to reuse Snapcaster Mage and Spellseeker in the absence of taiga. If we include it we should consider Restoration Angel or Felidar Guardian for added utility. If we include both, we might add Altar of the Brood for an infinite mill combo. :)))

SirChris39, thank you. I appreciate that. The most important goblins to include are as follows: Goblin Recruiter, Goblin Ringleader, Skirk Prospector, and Goblin Chirurgeon. Also include protection, haste enablers, and untappers of your choice. Lightning Greaves and Thousand-Year Elixir are notable in that they fulfill multiple needs at once. I hope this helps you brew!

August 8, 2020 12:51 p.m.

It’s a good concept but what’s your answer to Force of Will? Just curious.

I love this. Recommendations: Cascading Cataracts and Darksteel Citadel allows us to destroy all lands but still have two on our board. Heroic Intervention and Teferi's Protection protection will allow us to wrath the board or destroy all lands and keep our board. Consider Jokulhaups. Yikes!

I’ve been wanting to build this commander in this fashion for some time. I can’t wait to see how this deck develops.

I get it. I only play 2 legacy decks: Fish and my Kobolds (it’s here on T/O— it’s weird), but I’ve played against quite a few archetype decks, however. I’ve never seen a High Tide deck before. Kinda interesting.

I disagree that Daze is a softer counter than Flusterstorm for the reasons stated above, but I’ll lay off of it.

At any rate, If you need a 1 CMC counter Flusterstorm isn’t optimum. Spell Pierce, Force Spike, and Disrupt are all better overall.

I hope this helps.
