Big guys draws attention, little guys stabs em' in the kidney, or brain maybe. Fun casual Lure based EDH deck using Virtus the Veiled and Grom the Great at the head. Most effective against creature based decks as there's lots of ways to have all creatures focused on one so Virtus can slip through, and ways to abuse those creatures being blocked by so many, like throwing Lure on Engulfing Slagwurm and then swinging in, devouring their board and gaining a bunch of life. Description under construction, thoughts and opinions welcome (maybe looking for a way to discourage attacking into me so they're more likely to have blockers??)!!

These are the extroverts who everyone can't take their eyes off of. Use Lure effects on them into creature filled boardstates and reap maximum benefit while our life halving effects slip by to win the game. We're happy with double blocks but the more creatures blocking the MUCH MUCH better. Disclaimer, "boardwipe" here refers to wiping defending players field of creatures, doesn't kill off everything in a multiplayer game.

  • Elven Warhounds - A real kick in the face, these bad boys pull enormous weight whenever they get blocked by a creature, let alone a whole board lured into blocking. Putting creatures on top of someone's library denies them resources and wastes their draws, and is an enormous tempo swing.

  • Engulfing Slagwurm - Firstest strike and Super Deathtouch, this cute guy will dissolve pretty much any creature that blocks it and gains you life while doing it. And oh look, you just lured 5 creatures into blocking it, dissolved snacks for everyone!

  • Tangle Asp - A cute little snake who will murder EVERYTHING YOU LOVE, HISSSSSSSSSSSS

  • Phyrexian Obliterator - A very scary threat that's unfavorable to block in most circumstances, when he's taking a lot of damage from many sources you can cripple someone's boardstate by making them sac a bunch of permanents.

  • Predator Ooze - Cute little Ooze, he can swing in freely growing bigger and bigger, until a lure ability suddenly causes him to engulf a whole bunch of creatures depending on how big he is, growing EVEN bigger when he swallows them all and gets +1/+1 counters for killing them.

  • Sylvan Basilisk - Enough petrification to make a Gorgon jealous, this lizard will wipe out a whole field of creatures before combat takes place leaving people wide open.

  • Thicket Basilisk - While it doesn't kill quite as quick as his scarier basilisk-bro, he's stil lguarenteed to wipe everything that blocks him once combat is finished, meaning he's a boardwipe on legs.

  • Dead-Iron Sledge - Kind of like a Basilisk Hammer, at the cost of whatever we're attacking with (which would have died anyway) we kill off everything that blocks it, so it's like a repeatable boardwipe.

The whole point of the deck is to get creatures to all block one thing while a collection of life halving effects connect to an opponent. Lots of Lure effects accomplish this, forcing all creatures to block a single one, allowing the rest to get through at the (usual) sacrifice of the creature everyone's paying attention to.

  • Lure - The namesake, trick everything into targeting the creature you like so everything else can slip through.

  • Deadly Allure - A guaranteed block and deathtouch is very good on naything this deck wants to be attacking with, and the ability to cheaply flash it back is good at any point later in the game when people forget it's in your GY.

  • Declare Dominance - A giant growth and a forced block from everything.

  • Destined / Lead - A way to ensure an already lured creature survives its dive into the entire enemy team, then use its aftermath later to force more blocks from the enemy.

  • Nemesis Mask - A repeatable way to ensure whatever we want gets tanked by everything the opponent owns, the initial cost is steep but lured creatures will be dying so being able to get multiple uses is huge.

  • Noble Quarry - A (literal) workhorse of a lure, enchant whatever we want for a specific blocking combo, then get left with another distraction once the lured creature dies.

  • Revenge of the Hunted - A huge boost in P/T, trample, a boardwipe block, AND a miracle cost. This car is just perfect for what we want to do.

  • Roar of Challenge - A boardwide block and a condition to make a lured creature indestructible that's not too difficult to meet, very decent.

  • Shinen of Life's Roar - Flexibility, being able to force any creature we want to get blocked by everything or use it as a distraction, we'll get use either way.

  • Tower Above - P/T boost, a forced block and Wither for a fairly low price of to make a huge dent in the enemies board.

  • Tempting Licid - Another repeatable Lure effect, this one can attacth to a creature, force it to be mass blocked, then pay for it to fall off before it gets destroyed so you can just latch it onto another creature.
