When I first built this deck, it was a basic-bitch burn deck. I realized somewhere along the lines that combo-ing off to generate infinite copies of Fury Storm or Bonus Round to generate infinite damage with Ral was probably the most viable method for "burn" using him.

"Well to hell with that," I declared. If you've read some of my past decks before, you likely already know that I dislike playing combo. I don't like going for the exact same wincon every game, so I thought, "Why not build a flavorful deck this time?" I personally self-identify as an Izzet Guildmage, thus it makes sense that I'd build a chaos deck using Izzet flavor. It's about damn time I did.

It's simple: either things are more aligned to the Izzet flavor side of the deck, or they're Chaos-intended. Stitch in Time counts as both.

Archtype: Chaos Show

The Izzet are known for being less predictable than the weather. I don't know about you, but playing Chaos seems to check out there.

Admittedly, I've been going tryhard on my deck building a lot over the past few months. Oops, (Almost) All Mountains was one way to kick back, and this is no different. Oathbreaker is looking more and more like the format where I build my jank.

Why these two? Show

I went to a WAR prerelease with a buddy of mine who pulled this version of Ral, and even he knew I'd want it. I originally thought about Ral for my old burn deck, Light Up the Night [Multiplayer Burn], but it flopped.

I'd argue this printing of Ral is the most effective at its job. Lacking an ultimate also helps ward off hate from attacking creatures.

With Epic Experiment, the idea is that, knowing the Izzet, this experiment could either go really well (for me) and/or quite terribly (for everyone else and maybe me). Who knows? I don't.

• Ral fires off a lot of damage. Great with Thousand-Year Storm .

Epic Experiment + Thousand-Year Storm

• Rapid firing instants and sorceries while Storm is active makes for a great time.

Epic Experiment + League Guildmage

• Experiment having only 2 CMC, Guildmage can make copying it a breeze with the right amount of mana on my field.

Epic Experiment + Niv-Mizzet, Parun

• Play a lot of spells, draw a lot of cards, do a lot of damage.

Epic Experiment + Laboratory Maniac

• Deck myself with Epic Experiment to win. Niv-Mizzet, Parun helps.
