The idea behind this deck is to try to make a viable EDH Ponza deck.

The biggest challenge to that goal is having multiple opponents instead of just one. Start blowing up a land or two and your opponents will gang up on you quick. In order to mitigate some of that drawback, this deck has prioritized sources of land destruction that are creature-based, modal, multi-targeted, or just cheap to cast. There are also a few ways to copy spells to get more value from them.

Meanwhile, Vaevictis Asmadi, the Dire is a perfect Ponza commander. Sure, you can target any of your opponents' permanents, but lands are likely not the first kind of permanent most people would think of. If you've kept your opponents' lands in check before you get Vaevictis in play, then you can finish off (or cull down) their remaining lands each time you attack. Sure they'll get a free permanent sometimes, and sometimes that may majorly backfire, but the deck has plenty of removal, so just be sure to attack before casting any spells on your turn and you should be in good shape to remove anything scary.
