I've been wanting to make a "meteorite" or "falling star" type of theme deck for quite a while now. At first I wanted to put Ryusei, the Falling Star at helm, but then Roxanne, Starfall Savant was released and I knew she would be the commander. From there I still had to wait for enough cards within the theme to come out, and I think we're finally there... for the most part at least.

Meteors, Comets, and Falling Stars Show

So the theme of the deck is meteors, and while the deck isn't 100% in theme (Rampant Growth has no connection whatsoever for example), it is focussed on including as many meteor-flavoured cards. Most obvious as Meteor Storm, Meteor Swarm, Meteor Blast, Meteor Golem, Meteor Sword, Shivan Meteor, and Ultimate Magic: Meteor as well as Meteoric Mace and of course: Meteorite. We get pretty far with the word "meteor" but there are workable synonyms, such as "comet", which gives us cards like Comet Storm and Choco-Comet, and "falling star", which gives us Starfall, Starstorm, Star of Extinction, and the aforementioned Ryusei, the Falling Star. Then there are some miscellaneous terms which strongly alude to meteors such as Stone Rain, Molten Rain, and Rain of Embers. Finally, there are some cards that feature meteors in their art, but not in their cardname. This gives some treasures like the Edge of Eternities basic lands Mountain and Forest, as well as an Unfinity Stomping Ground and while the deck doesn't shy away from a mana base that doesn't feature all meteors, something like the Doctor Who Terramorphic Expanse seems to feature asteroids (another term related to meteor, though no card in magic as of the close of 2025 feature the word "asteroid" in their name). Then there is Nature's Lore a very nice ramp spell that features a falling star. Here too it is the case that I won't shy away from ramp just because it doesn't fit the theme directly, but it is very nice when it is in theme. Then there are Anger of the Gods, Heaven / Earth, and Fated Firepower. To round out the meteor theme completely we can look at one final category: craters. This lets us include Meteor Crater and Smoldering Crater and while it is not in the deck, you could include Craterize if you like the land destruction sub-theme that comes with a deck like this.

The Sun? Show

Even with all these cards, and the cards up in the next categories, we still have room to fill, and I chose to fill it with cards themed around the Sun. Why? Because.... space? Idk, I already took out Chimil, the Inner Sun in favour of Meteor Sword when that came out, so I plan to switch out the sun-themed cards for meteor-themed cards when possible. But until then, this... space-heat theme will continue with cards like Sweltering Suns, Red Sun's Zenith, Red Sun's Twilight, Blood Sun, Sunspine Lynx, Burning Sun's Avatar, The Immortal Sun, Sphere of the Suns, Caged Sun, Sunscorched Desert, Solar Blast, Sol Grail, and Sol Ring. Not only are these cards somewhat on theme, many of them are also very usefull, such as the mana rocks, the creatures as this deck has very few, and you'll find Red Sun's Twilight to be an excellent finisher when turned on your own meteorites.

Even MORE Meteorites Show

With all these cards, the deck is starting to look good, but we still have room to spare, and we want more meteorites, but there are none... so what do we do? Well, we find other ways to make meteorites of course. We can make it so Roxanne creates more meteorites per each of her triggers with cards like Lithoform Engine, Strionic Resonator, Blade of Selves, and Return the Favor doubling her triggers, and Parallel Lives doubling the amount of incoming token meteorites. On top of that, cards like Second Harvest, City of Death, For the Common Good, Devastating Onslaught, and yes even Red Sun's Twilight can create a big burst of meteorites. Some of these require large amounts of mana, but with all your meteorite tokens already tapping for two mana, each of them fills out one entire X on the double X'ed cards: One meteorite for another so to speak. Even cards like Arena of Glory and Swiftfoot Boots could be viewed as part of this category as they are in here to give Roxanne haste, which means we can trigger her ETB and attack triggers in the same turn.

Miscellaneous Help Show

Aside from the standard ramp and card draw that fills out the rest of the deck, there are some cards worth noting. First up is the Amulet of Vigor to have our token meteorites (and anything else) come in untapped. Archdruid's Charm seems a bit of a regular utility card, able to function as ramp, a creature tutor, artifact or enchantment removal, or creature removal, and it can even to pump your Roxanne enough it can survive your own Anger of the Gods. The justification? Roxanne is a Druid, so it's her charm. Elementalist's Palette is ramp, but it's noteworthy because in our theme of meteors there are quite some cards like Comet Storm, Starstorm, Meteor Shower, as well as cards like Devastating Onslaught, that have an X in their cost. It's just that this elementalist likes to paint with flaming rocks hurled from heaven. Finally I included Solphim, Mayhem Dominus both because his effect is pretty powerful, having all our meteorites deal 4 damage a pop, but being the Dominus of Mayhem I can easily see how he'd view stars of extinction as one of the greater forms of mayhem.

What's Left? Show

Some protection in the form of a Heroic Intervention, Tamiyo's Safekeeping, and Tyvar's Stand. There is a Rogue's Passage in here to help us get that attack trigger. And anything else is here purely for ramp, card draw, and to fill out a nice mana base.

For Consideration Show

While not in the deck, just like the Craterize, there might be some more cards you want in your deck that I don't put in mine, but did consider. A selection of these are The Fire Crystal as it's largely on-flavor, and every ability of this cards has utility in the deck, for a simple cost reduction, to giving Roxanne the haste we wanted her to have, or even to copy Roxanne to gain her ETB trigger again. Primal Amulet   could also be considered given that it discounts our numerous Instants and Sorceries, and the backside even lets us copy some. Flavourwise it's on the weaker side, but I'd say meteors give off a primal type of vibe which fits with the Amulet. Then there is Glaring Spotlight. It's very weak in the flavour department, but it makes it so we can target the enemy's creatures with our meteorites even if they have hexproof and as cherry on top it can make Roxanne unblockable so we can get a free attack trigger in. Finally, in a similar vein as Solphim, Fiery Emancipation is on-flavour enough and it makes our meteorites hit even harder, so it might very well be worth the inclusion for you.
