Hello one and all to Fat Stack Faeries!

This deck is my build of the Alela brawl Deck turned commander deck. It was mainly created out of cards I had sitting around and turned into this wierd kinda mish mash mumbo jumbo of a deck. But it works! It is a fun deck and I enjoy it quite a bit. So here is a little run down...

How Does It Win?

Well that is an excellent question. You are probably thinking to yourself, "Wow, this deck looks like dumpster fire." and maybe a "Hmmmm. This guy looks like he has only been playing magic for a week at best."

Those are valid thoughts ngl.

But hey. It is fun to play haha.

I think the reason I enjoy this deck is because it is very versatile. You can take it many different ways which is how I enjoy playing. There are multiple options and paths you can take to get to a victory depending on individual game circumstances.

So let's go over it.

First and foremost this deck is kinda a Midrange leaning toward control deck. The goal of this deck generally is to control the game enough to not let huge threats get out all the while building up your own threat. There are many control aspects of the deck but it is not a straight up just say "No!" to everything your opponent does. Examples of controlling cards in this deck are:

Generic Good Stuff Control:

Swords to Plowshares

Kaya's Wrath

Alela Synergistic Control:

Banish into Fable

Lawmage's Binding

Conclave Tribunal

Soul Snare

While creating this deck I really wanted to focus on Alela as the Commander and she is very versatile. I knew I wanted an Esper Controlish build and I knew eventually I want to transition it to a Stax commander more once I can put more into it, but I do not have the resources right now to move in that direction so I worked with cards I already have...

So we have talked about controlling, now how do we build up our own threat. There are multiple ways.

Strategy 1

Voltron

Alela makes a nice voltron body and I have become quite fond of dropping some enchantments on her and going to town. A four mana 2/3 Flying Deathtouch Lifelink alone sounds pretty nice then drop some buffs, especially ones like Stoneforge Masterwork and All That Glitters and we can start to do some serious damage. Some other examples of nice voltrony cards for her are:

Hope Against Hope

Mace of the Valiant

Angelic Exaltation

Faith Unbroken is really nice because it doubles as a buff and control at the same time.

And we have some nice protection stuff like the always faithful Swiftfoot Boots and the slightly more obscure Curator's Watd

I have won a decent bit of games this way. Commander damage can be real killer.

Strategy 2

Go Wide

The second strategy here is to accumulate as many Faerie Tokens as possible using Alela and to be able to swing wide enough with our evasive threats to finish off opponents. Some excellent cards for this strategy are lord effects such as Empyrean Eagle and Favorable Winds, and additional token producers like Ajani's Chosen and Thopter Assembly

And let me tell you, Mirrorweave targeting a Empyrean Eagle with 20 some odd creatures on the field is so satisfying. Just saying.

I leaned less on this strategy than voltrony but it is equally viable.

Synopsis

Well there you have it folks. If anyone has suggestions on budget staxs pieces to pick up as well as reccomended switches post them in the comments! I know I gotta work on the mana base too I didn't realize how wonky it is haha.

Anyways.. Until next time...
