Curator's Ward Discussion

Neotrup on Paradox Engine shenanigans

Yes, that works. Also, after Paradox Engine's ability resolves, but before Mox Amber does, you'll be able to tap the one on the field for mana, netting you 2 mana each time through the loop. Alternatively you can always keep the original Amber as it was untapped by Paradox Engine if for some reason it was better (such as being enchanted by Curator's Ward and you're worried about targeted exile) as it will untap and still net you a mana each time through the loop.

If you were to enchant Chromatic Lantern with Curator's Ward, only the lantern will have hexproof. Curator's Ward only provides hexproof to the permanent it is enchanted on. If the Curator's Ward is removed, your Chromatic Lantern will no longer have hexproof as the enchantment giving it hexproof is no longer enchanting it.

If Curator's Ward also had hexproof, it would say so on a separate line. To better illustrate, Darksteel Plate itself has indestructible and gives the equipped creature indestructible. Notice how the two effects are on separate lines. Since that is not the case, Curator's Ward only provides hexproof to whatever it is enchanting.

Hexproof only protects something from being targeted. An effect needs to explicitly have the word "target" in its rules text in order for hexproof to protect against it. Hexproof will protect against a Naturalize but not against a Shatterstorm.

702.11b “Hexproof” on a permanent means “This permanent can’t be the target of spells or abilities your opponents control.”

Say I was running Chromatic Lantern and used Curator's Ward on it. Would that mean that the enchantment attaches to the Lantern then makes both of them hexproof? Or would there still be able to be enchantment removal, thus making either my lantern without hexproof again, or destroying both my aura and lantern by removing enchantment? Or would it simply be hexproof and thus protected from any removal spells?

Also, would hexproof protect from spells that say 'destroy this enchantment or artifact'? Or do I have to have indestructible for that?

I just found Curator's Ward for my Chromatic Lantern. I could also use Heroic Intervention, as artifacts are permanents. But Curator's Ward is an enchantment, essentially offering a layer of protection against spells, but in itself is vulnerable as an echanntment.

Arcum Dagsson -> Elvish Piper/Nissa, Vastwood Seer  Flip/Tooth and Nail/Caravan Vigil/Mana Reflection/Quicksilver Amulet/Summoner's Egg/Fool's Demise/Curator's Ward/Lightning Greaves/Conqueror's Flail/??

Some additional protection for your combo pieces comes to mind. Maybe just another counterspell. But Arcum doesn't belong in the deck IMO

Do you think that Curator's Ward could have a place in your deck? It has the double benefit of providing hexproof to a permanent you may want to protect, while also giving you a draw 2 trigger.

Spellskite, Steely Resolve, Diplomatic Immunity, Curator's Ward or Sylvan Safekeeper just to name a few. Also cards that produce mana for your creatures do well in my Xyris

Flicker or blink effects can work very well to defend Bruna too. eg:

Aquamoeba can help you discard all your auras so you can equip them for free. So can Cephalid Inkshrouder.

If you want to discard and gain something in return (you greedy git) you have things like these:

These are but mere suggestions for stuff you may want to consider!
