When I first saw this deck on Game-Knights, I knew I had to make a version for myself. Now after almost three years and a lot of searching I have ended up with the current version of the O.G. Bolas deck. I took the deck in a different direction than the original, by focusing more on classic combos from the early days of Magic the Gathering.

Here are some of the changes I've made to the deck.

Chaos Orb changed to Illusionary Mask, this change was made because orb is not legal in commander.

Forcefield changed to Power Artifact, this change was made to gain infinite Mana with Basalt Monolith.

Pestilence change to Invisibility, this change was made to combo with Juggernaut.

Darkness change to Howl from Beyond, this change was made because there is an infinite mana combo in the deck.

Amnesia changed to Dark Ritual, Amnesia just cost to much for what it dose, Dark Ritual is just better for this deck to help out with the high CMC cost of the cards in this deck.

Nebuchadnezzar changed to Lord of Tresserhorn, this change was made because the deck has Illusionary Mask in it.

Pirate Ship changed to Orcish Spy, Pirate Ship cost to much for a pinger and Orcish Spy combos with Sindbad.

Nettling Imp changed to Serendib Efreet, While the Imp does work well with Royal Assassin, a 3/4 flyer for the same CMC is just a better deal.

Demonic Tutor changed to Vampiric Tutor, personal choice.

Transmute Artifact changed to Sinkhole, I didn't have a Transmute for this deck but I did have a Sinkhole.

Swamp changed to Urborg

Swamp changed to Hammerheim

Island changed to Phyrexian Dreadnought, Inquest Magazine once called Illusionary Mask + Phyrexian Dreadnought the best combo in Magic the gathering and if you get Dark Ritual in your opening hand, it is Magical Christmas Land.

Island changed to Khabal Ghoul to combo with Nevinyrral's Disk

Glacial Chasm changed to Shivan Reef, more mana fixing.

Hurkyl's Recall changed to Library of Leng, this was a hard one, taking out Hurkyl's Recall was difficult because of all the interaction that it could be used for. However most times it was just a dead card in hand to be used with Recall later. Library of Leng on the other hand has great interaction with the cards in this deck. Library of Leng combos well with Sindbad so that you can get land and keep non-land cards out of the graveyard. Library of Leng also works well with Necropotence. With no maximum hand size you can overload your hand and if you are forces to discard, you can discard to the top of your library, instead of having the card being removed from the game with Necropotence.
