My favorite artifact:
A very long time ago, my favorite artifact was Icy Manipulator. The original artwork hooked me. Back when artifacts got turned off when they became tapped this card was a great answer for nearly everything that would get put into play that could hurt you. And it was always relevant.

My favorite creature:
Once Arabian Nights happened, The Khabal Ghoul became my favorite creature. For 1 mana, a creature that could just keep growing? Pair them with Royal Assassins and grow them like crazy. If playing with white, add Spirit Links to the ghouls. They just added an ever growing threat to your board and were very flavorful.

My favorite instant:
Capsize has been my favorite ever since it's first printing back in 1999. This is repeatable denial at instant speed in an opponent's end step, targets any permanent and is in a color filled with protection for it. I believe it's a perfect example of what blue magic is. Versatile and another form of permission. And if unanswered, it will stop any strategy across the table from you. Since it can even bounce lands, it's never a dead draw really.

Abattoir Ghoul, Apprentice Necromancer, Blood Scrivener, Bone Dancer, Boneknitter, Carrion Feeder, Diregraf Colossus, Frankenstein's Monster, Gempalm Polluter (this one is a MUST for zombie decks), Ghastly Remains, Gloomdrifter, Gravespawn Sovereign, Khabal Ghoul, Risen Executioner, Shepherd of Rot (another zombie must), Vengeful Dead (yet another needed additon). In addition I agree with the comment Ridley006 made about needing more recursion and i'll add the suggestion of Necromancy.

Things you're currently running that i would suggest taking out for either new suggestions or things on your maybeboard, Black Cat, Graveborn Muse (amazing draw engine but trust me, it could end you faster than you intended.), Phenax, God of Deception (i get it, mill is fun, although it's not the most strategic option in EDH), Possessed Skaab, Returned Phalanx, Undead Alchemist, this should be a good start for you. hope it helped :)

clayperce, thank you for all the nice comments and suggestions!

I started back around FE and was pleasantly surprised by all the fungus that came out in the 15 or so years I missed from the late 90s until last year. One of my two favorite decks from back in the day was GWB Thallad and Khabal Ghoul. Since I don't have the black for it here, Lumberknot helps fill the void. Asmira, Holy Avenger is another hold over from the old days. The former hasn't hit play yet in my first five games with the deck, but Asmira was useful.

Night Soil has done some good work in a few of the games so far, but I really notice that it only does creatures as compared to Scavenging Ooze. Some of the Saproling makers have been useful (for their sac abilities), but I haven't had enough out yet to make it worth a proliferater, so I'm even taking out Plaguemaw Beast.

Haven't opted to put Trailblazer's Boots or Whispersilk Cloak in yet, but did buy the Boots and dig the Cloak out of deep storage. Still thinking about the other planeswalkers and actually took out Life and Limb. I don't think I have enough forests and I don't have much to break the combo to avoid the draw. (The infinite combo thing is to keep in good with all the groups at my LGS). Both Mutations have been useful.

I will have to pick up a Shamanic Revelation -- will just have to remember to use it before I have too many saps out. Windbrisk Heights always seems like a good idea, but it's pretty much in there now just because I actually want to see if I can get something good from it at some point.

Changes so far:
Add: Artifact Mutation, Aura Mutation, Blasting Station, Lignify, Mirror Entity, Sigil Captain, and Sword of the Animist
Minus: Hardened Scales, Life and Limb, Mycologist, Plaguemaw Beast, Primordial Hydra, Rootborn Defenses, and Thallid Germinator
