Wash Away and Decanter of Endless Water might have a place in this deck :)

I definitely think Ancient Brass Dragon has a spot, it could help you reanimate your dragons (as well as whatever you grab from your opponents), I would maybe add that and maybe Goldspan Dragon

Three Visits and Nature's Lore over Cultivate.

Damn over Toxic Deluge

Augur of Autumn might be better than Realmwalker

Drop Aggravated Assault, Aura of Silence, Stinging Study (you have a good chunk of draw as it is), Imposing Grandeur, Spit Flame (there are better cards)

Mana Drain is nice, but I am usually not a fan of it in a deck with 4 or more colors

With this being 5 color, I am trying to debate the best early game package

maybe:

5 counterspells (from below)

An Offer You Can't Refuse, Swan Song, Wash Away, Dovin's Veto, Counterflux, Render Silent, Disallow

4-5 board wipes

Damn, Cyclonic Rift, Winds of Abandon, Supreme Verdict, Crux of Fate

7 2 drop ramps (need all)

Arcane Signet, Fellwar Stone, Farseek, Three Visits, Nature's Lore, Bloom Tender, Coiling Oracle,

4 spot removal

Anguished Unmaking, Assassin's Trophy, Despark, Beast Within, Generous Gift, Fracture, Bedevil, Abrupt Decay

A quick glance reveals some concerns. I think this can certainly be shaped into a solid deck, but for now it seems a bit too unfocused. I believe the main strategy is to grow powerful creatures through +1/+1 counters, which is totally viable, but the concerns arise from a lot of spells in the deck that either don’t contribute to that gameplan or else are simply outclassed by similar spells in the format.

Cards like Jace's Erasure have no synergy with anything else, while Wash Away is outclassed by Counterspell. Djinn Illuminatus is simply far too expensive (mana wise) to ever see play, and the Replicate ability will be useless.

My recommendation would be to firmly commit to one thing you’d like the deck to do very well, and then only include cards that synergize with your strategy. Lastly, instead of 1 or 2 of a bunch of different cards, settle for 3 or 4 copies of a particularly good card. It’ll improve consistency.

Hey Spirits, sounds like your games went well!

To add to your last comment, Mystic Sanctuary only triggers if you have 3+ other islands, so it's probably not worth it with a Tainted Pact mana base. Also, in my past couple games I've had issues with Sunken Hollow coming in tapped, so I think I'll replace it with City of Brass like you mentioned.

You're right about Thousand-Faced Shadow, it's been treating me very well so far.

Wash Away isn't bad, but there's just so many good counterspells in edh I don't think it makes the top 10-ish that we would want to run.

I'm currently trying 32 lands, and it's felt good so far. But I tend to run 1-2 more lands than most lists I've seen, so I think 30 is a good number too.

As for the extra turn spells, I don't have a sure-fire way to win other than tutoring Draco/Blinkmoth Infusion on top if my opponents are low enough. But I've found that the 2-3 extra Yuriko triggers you get by taking an extra turn put you very far ahead, even if the damage isn't enough to be lethal.

azja,

I've only played 5 cEDH games so far (won 2 lost 3).

If you ignore the ninjitsu ability on Thousand-Faced Shadow, it's really a better Mothdust Changeling.

Any thoughts on Wash Away? I really can't tell, to counter a commander, or anything impulse cast like s Jeska's Will or Dauthi Voidwalker etc.? Multi-use at MV3.

I'm at 29 lands, hasn't been an issue yet, thinking of going to 30? I'm also short an Imperial Seal really need that card in here unfortunately.

I run Doomsday only tried to win that way once, was counterspell though (too bad).

Temporal Mastery and Temporal Trespass have been great, is there any way to turn them into an immediate win though?

For stealing your opponents' cards, I'd recommend Xanathar, Guild Kingpin as a back-up Sen. Celestial Dawn is also an auto-include in Sen decks.

If you want stax pieces, Drannith Magistrate, Nevermore, and Wash Away are great ways to stop your opponent from casting their commanders.

Aura of Silence is handy for taking care of pesky enchantments and can slow down their plans. Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver and Bojuka Bog are handy pieces of graveyard hate, with the latter being a free-roll in your deck.

Scheming Symmetry is HILARIOUS with Aven Mindcensor and Opposition Agent. Leonin Arbiter also goes nicely with it.

Fatespinner is nasty and can functionally lock opponents out of combat. Rhystic Study is an auto-include in these types of decks.

=============

In terms of win-cons, you could go with the Mindcrank combo: Mindcrack + Duskmantle Guildmage. Use Ghoulcaller's Bell to start the process without damage. Syr Konrad, the Grim is also good for redundancy.

There's also any number of combos involving Laboratory Maniac, Thassa's Oracle, and Jace, Wielder of Mysteries. Use Demonic Consultation on your upkeep and name a card not in your deck to win on your draw step.

If you have a high enough density of creatures, Mortal Combat is a very simple way to win. With enough artifacts, Mechanized Production can be a free-roll. Revel in Riches is a very simple way of creating mana, with the upside of occasionally winning you the game (also pairs well with Spell Swindle.) Felidar Sovereign is also a hilarious.

=============

If you're looking to make opponents struggle by dismantling their pieces, you should absolutely have pieces like Swords to Plowshares, Path to Exile, Vanishing Verse, and maybe even Generous Gift in addition to boardwipes like Farewell, Tragic Arrogance, Cataclysm, and Wrath of God.

I don't think they'll ban him, he is good though. I think Wash Away helped nerf a lot of high cost commanders. I'd take that with a grain of salt, I have been out of the competitive scene for a while now, you likely know a lot more about the scene. I would say just be ready to enjoy him for a long time maybe?
