Soulcatchers' Aerie Discussion
Great deck, I am a bird deck lover, and for many years I have been designing a bird deck, but this looks really well done! can I ask you how you solve the problems of total destruction against you? ( Day of Judgment Cleansing Nova Wrath of God. potentially total destruction could be in your favor thanks to Soulcatchers' Aerie but I wouldn't like to be out in the open for a long time. and maybe with all my best creatures in the cemetery.
I would still like to ask you a question, you did not feel comfortable with Seaside Haven?

Time of Ice, Quiet Contemplation, Back to Basics, Dream Tides, Wrath of Marit Lage, Temporal Distortion, Neko-Te Thalakos Dreamsower, Wall of Stolen Identity, Frost Titan, Queen of Ice, Wall of Ice, Niblis of Frost, Guardian of Tazeem, Icefall Regent, Dungeon Geists, Mesmerizing Benthid, House Guildmage, Tidebinder Mage, Watertrap Weaver, Frost Lynx, Stitched Mangler, Fogwalker, and Vertigo Spawn would probably be my picks for "freeze" tribal.
Alternately, if you're not invested in Dimir, so much as in the creature itself, you could build a Derevi, Empyrial Tactician, or Empress Galina deck, since those commanders probably best represent what the card is doing.

No trouble. I never considered that interaction! I've never been big on WU, but maybe I should look into a Taigam deck. Ethereal Usher , Enlightened Tutor , and Idyllic Tutor would probably be the next upgrades I would go for, then. Seaside Haven , Soulcatchers' Aerie , and Airborne Aid could also be good, depending on how reliably you get out Dovescape.

I love this, I might have to build my own.
one recommendation, Soulcatchers' Aerie .. Because they state "This card is every creature type at all times" that should work. also, would work for any of the changeling instants as well..

Hey, interesting concept for a tribal deck. Consider expanding on the strategy of Soulcatchers' Aerie? What makes this card shine with Birds and Derevi are sac outlets. With sac outlets you can sac Derevi to put a counter on Arie and then using Derevi's activated ability to put her back into play without playing Commander tax. This is one reason sac outlets are pretty busted with Derevi. Sac outlets to consider adding:
Skullclamp is great with sac outlets and is also good with all the 1/1 Owls/Familiars/Tokens.
Consider Reveillark + Guide combo? It's excellent with sac outlets as a reanimation engine. There's many Birds here who when in the graveyard have 2 or less power who Reveillark can reanimate. This combo by reanimating and sacing Birds can put a lot of counters on Aerie or draw a lot of cards with Skullclamp. Sacing and reanimating Reveillark and Guide can put a lot of counters on Soulcatcher since both have flying.
Mimeomancer + Kangee, Aerie Keeper is a good Bird interaction. Kangee cares about feather counters; Mimeomancer can at your upkeep put a feather counter on Kangee. Quest is good with Crookclaw Elder and Keeper of the Nine Gales. Tap two Birds to draw a card or bounce a permanent; when have four counters on Quest untap all your Birds during your opponents turns.
Witness can recur any card and be reanimated with Reveillark; it's a powerful card with Reveillark. Consider Yisan? Because of the low budget you can't play a lot of expensive price creature tutors. Yisan is a budget repeatable creature tutor that puts the creature right onto the battlefield. Birds have a nice curve of CMC creatures (1 drop all the way up to six drop).
As far as the five nonBird creatures you're allowed to play I suggest: Emeria Angel, Reveillark, Karmic Guide, Eternal Witness and Yisan.
Other Birds to consider adding:
- Mirror Entity: it's a Bird.
- Battle Screech
- Owl Familiar
- Palace Familiar
- Raven Familiar
- Lieutenant Kirtar
Budget lands to consider:
- Seaside Citadel
- Yavimaya Coast
- Canopy Vista
- Prairie Stream
- Exotic Orchard
- Port Town
- Fortified Village
- Irrigated Farmland
- Scattered Groves
- Blighted Woodland
Cards to consider cutting:
- Coat of Arms
- Illusionist's Bracers
- Crystal Ball
- Fable of Wolf and Owl
- Gravitational Shift
- Favorable Winds
- Sphinx's Revelation
- Explosive Vegetation
- Wing Shards
- Cloudfin Raptor
- Skymark Roc
- Oketra's Attendant
- Aerie Mystics
- Aven Wind Guide
- Windbrisk Raptor
- Arctic Aven
- Sunpetal Grove
- Glacial Fortress
- Temple of Enlightenment
- Temple of Plenty
Good luck with your deck.

(Edit: Updates now on (List) Coward_Token's custom cards)
I feel that some tribes are only partially supported. Rather than trying to fix each individual tribe, I've tried to think of some cards that would be good enough for the lesser tribes but not so good that the established ones like Goblins & Merfolk would also benefit. This way, the situation would be remedied for all underdog tribes, both present and future. Hopefully this isn't too misguided; let me know what you think.
Width token makers
The following are meant for tribal cards which would appreciate going wide but have difficulty doing so reliably, e.g. Thundercloud Shaman or Admiral Beckett Brass (why does Grixis only have one Pirate token maker available?). One concern I have with these is that they could be problematic with some cards, e.g. Reaper King , Soulcatchers' Aerie and Gilt-Leaf Archdruid .
Obelisk of Creation Show
As Obelisk of Creation enters the battlefield, choose a color and a creature type.
: Add .
, : Create a tapped 1/1 creature token of the chosen color and type.
Comment: Derived from Volrath's Laboratory (which I feel is underwhelming by contemporary standards). Makes tapped tokens to avoid it becoming a blocker generator and to make it less attractive for established tribes - could also make it only work at Sorcery speed to e.g. avoid it being used for Rally triggers. I feel 2 is a good number here since you lose out on tapping it for mana. (Tap-based token making abilities seem to typically cost 3 mana)
Genesis Blade Show
Artifact - Equipment
As Genesis Blade enters the battlefield, choose a creature type and a color.
Equipped creature gets +1/+0.
Whenever equipped creature deals combat damage to a player, create a 1/1 creature token of the chosen color and type.
Artificial Sire Show
Artifact Creature - Construct
As Artificial Sire enters the battlefield, choose a creature type.
Artificial Sire is the chosen type in addition to its other types.
Whenever Artificial Sire deals combat damage to a player, create a 1/1 colorless artifact creature token of the chosen type.
These are meant to help tribes who suffer from having few cards to choose from within singleton limitations, giving them some extra fatties.
Familiar Likeness Show
As Familiar Likeness enters the battlefield, choose a creature type.
: Add .
, : Choose a creature you control of the chosen type. Create a X/Y colorless creature token of the chosen type, where X is the chosen creature’s base power and Y is the chosen creature’s base toughness.
Comment: Derived from Riptide Replicator (which I also feel is underwhelming by contemporary standards). Height version of Obelisk of Creation. The second ability is not targeted in order for it to be available to Illusion tribal as well. Could be used with Marit Lange to make 20/20 tokens (without flying or indestructible), but if you got her out and are playing Avatar tribal then I think you deserve it. Could base on current power/toughness, but I didn't want to deal with people abusing temporary bonuses from e.g. Hatred . This does cause e.g. Hydras to suffer though.
Kindred Colossus Show
As Kindred Colossus enters the battlefield, choose a creature type.
Kindred Colossus is the chosen type in addition to its other types.
Kindred Colossus enters the battlefield with X +1/+1 counters on it, where X is the total base power of each other creature you control of the chosen type.
If Kindred Colossus would be put into a graveyard from anywhere, reveal Kindred Colossus and shuffle it into its owner’s library instead.
A walking monument to a people’s glory.
Seal of Unity Show
As Seal of Unity enters the battlefield, choose two different creature types.
Creatures you control of either of the chosen types are both in addition to their other types
Comment: Meant for some linked tribes, e.g: Knights & Soldiers and Werewolves & Wolves. Dunno if the CMC is too low compared to e.g. Conspiracy and Xenograft . Also, could be problematic with e.g. Xathrid Necromancer .
Representative's Ring Show
As Representative’s Ring enters the battlefield, choose a creature type.
, , tap an untapped creature you control of the chosen type: Draw a card. Activate this ability only if you control at least three more creatures of the chosen type than any other player.
Comment: Meant to be more reliable for less popular tribes. Dunno if it's too strong right now.
Tribal Mantle Show
Artifact - Equipment
Equipped creature has “: Add two mana of any one color. Spend this mana only to cast a spell that shares a creature type with this permanent or to activate abilities of creatures that share a creature type with this permanent.”
Comment: Derived from Paradise Mantle , obviously.
Vesuvan Braclet Show
Artifact - Equipment
As Vesuvan Braclet enters the battlefield, choose a creature type.
Equipped creature gets +0/+1 and is the chosen type.
(new) Volrath's Implant Show
Artifact - Equipment
As Volrath's Implant enters the battlefield, choose a creature type.
Whenever Volrath's Implant becomes attached to a creature, change the text of that creature by replacing all instances of one creature type with the chosen type.
Whenever Volrath's Implant becomes unattached from a permanent, its controller sacrifices it.
Comment: Inspired by DragonMaus (see below) and derived from Vesuvan Braclet, New Blood , Captain's Hook and Grafted Wargear . The triggered sac ability was mostly included because I didn't know how I could revert the text change otherwise; it's a bit more throughout than Grafted Wargear's since it still works if someone else takes control of the creature, provided they don't also have Sigarda, Host of Herons . In that case the creature will still keep its altered text until it e.g. changes zones.

47552 Love the idea, really creative! I have some recommendations for you though. Onto the birds!
First, if your play group doesn't mind un-cards, then Crow Storm is quite good. Other then that, Storm Crow itself, despite the memes, is not a bad card and is great in bird tribal. Murder of Crows is a really good finisher as it will deter board wipes and swing for 4 a turn. Mindshrieker is another good finsher. Swan Song and Essence Scatter are both great bird themed counterspells and Wing Shards is a great bird themed spell. Crookclaw Elder is a good draw engine and Impaler Shrike and/or Thieving Magpie add a good bit of draw. Keeper of the Nine Gales adds some great board control and helps disrupt the tempo of your opponent. Augury Owl gives some nice foresight to what is coming up and allows you to change the order or throw away the cards that are not needed. Finally, while not a 'bird bird', Soulcatcher is awesome at killing the opponent after some sacrifice shenanigans.
I also have some general recommendations for the deck. Firstly, Culling Dais is awesome. It can tap and sacrifice a bird if that bird is destroyed, turning it into another card for later on. It gets even more ridiculous with Thrummingbird increasing counters. Deluge gives all of your birds pseudo-unblockable and Gravitational Shift beefs up your birds while your opponent's ground troops get weaker. Kangee, Aerie Keeper pumps the power and toughness of all your birds while Aven Mimeomancer makes your tokens bigger. Door of Destinies does similar things to Kangee. Tezzeret's Gambit is a nice draw spell that also adds counters. Glory stops damage cold. In this deck Grafted Wargear is better then Barbed Battlegear, despite the synergy with Soulcatchers' Aerie. Cataclysm is an awesome board wipe, especially with Soulcatchers' Aerie. Masako the Humorless is nasty surprise for your opponent, especially with Glory chilling in the graveyard. Finally, with land I recommend using Nimbus Maze and Sejiri Refuge. I also recommend having 20 lands, but if 18 works, by all means, keep using 18.
I hope this helps! If you would like any help with cuts, just ask, I'll be happy to help!
