Utility Lands and Sideboard Considerations

Removing one Westvale Abbey Flip for another Ghost Quarter. Ghost Quarter is just too damn good against Affinity, Infect, Tron, and Scapeshift. It can even kill a Celestial Colonnade in the control match. Seems too good. Keeping a Westvale Abbey Flip since it can be so powerful and even randomly win you the game in this deck. I haven't been convinced it should be more than a one of.
I am removing a Kolaghan's Command from the sideboard because I have yet to want to bring more than one in. Even in Affinity I am not sure I want all 3. I am considering replacing it with another Thoughtseize for combo, control, and tron match ups.

Asylum Visitor also helps with the card draw for more vampires, yes you lose a life but all of the 1/1 life link vampire tokens from Call the Bloodline should be helping you even out if not gain life.
Taking out Throttle and placing it on side board, replacing it with Fiery Temper, added one Mountain and subtracted Shard of Broken Glass
A fun combo that I like to run would be to have Olivia's Bloodsworn on the field trigger a Call the Bloodline getting a 1/1 vampire while discarding Bloodmad Vampire and cast it for madness, as well as tapping a mountain to give it haste. Not only did you cast it for the original cost, you gain haste, and you also got a 1/1 life-link vampire and with haste, you'll likely gain another +1/+1 counter. profit

New Commander, new cards, new deck

So I bought the C15 Plunge The Graves deck and merged the best of what the two decks had in to one super deck with Mazirek, Kraul Death Priest at the helm and the major theme being Sacrifice. You played an Evolving Wilds? Oh how nice of you, all my creatures get a +1/+1 counter. Oh, did I not notice Corpsejack Menace on the field? Make that two 1/1 counters. Anyway, this thing swings like a beast. Every card hits the meta. I would love to hear what input y'all might have. Notice also I removed a bunch of the tap lands that came with C15 and that were in the deck prior (Jungle Hollow, Golgari Guildgate...) in favor of basic lands because the combination of Mycoloth + Perilous Forays is just too good.

Sideboard Changes

I decided to streamline the board and maximize my chances against the decks I might struggle against. +2 Dismember / -2 Scavenging Ooze : This will allow me to maximize my chances of having a Dismember in my hand should they play the final combo piece. +4 Essence Warden / -1 Beast Within, -3 Kitchen Finks : I wanted to add in a 4th lifegain card against Burn and Aggro decks. I think the additional speed on Essence Warden with the additional possibility for life gain will be a winner. +2 Fracturing Gust / -2 Beast Within : Adding two more Fracturing Gusts should hopefully allow me to make sure I draw one against Affinity or Boggles to blow them out of the game completely. +1 Lead the Stampede / -1 Phyrexian Revoker : Against control or removal heavy decks, the extra hand replenish will be helpful rather than shutting off a specific planeswalker.

It is a very sad day for this deck. I recently discovered that Conspire only allows you to copy the spell once, not as-many-times-as-you-want. I thought I had stumbled into the most broken deck of all time, but alas it is not. I'll still play it and it can still work, just not nearly as easily as it was working.
I plan on revising the deck to do more Overrun-ing and Fervor-ing so it can still kill quickly, and maybe squeeze in some more quality ramp since I can't just Harrow 6 times.

April 22 Update
Wiccolo, 9 years ago
Posting this in the appropriate location as I am, sometimes, a simple man.
Added:
- Terastodon - This has great ETB value with few removal restrictions. It can also add an additional 3 blockers / 9 damage for us if we need chump blockers, sac outlets, or aggression.
- Regrowth - No restrictions on what you'd like to recover for a second cast. Could get back Lotus Cobra, Oracle of Mul Daya, or Horn of Greed if our early game is stifled; recast Tooth and Nail or Genesis Wave if the first go didn't put a nail in the coffin; or fetch Ugin, the Spirit Dragon or All is Dust if we're in crisis mode for a second time.
Removed:
- Defense of the Heart - It's too easy to play around, has awkward timing, and is a generally passive play. I've always had better options in hand than this.
- Expedition Map
- This card is outclassed by Crop Rotation and Sylvan Scrying. We're not running many must-have lands at the moment, such as Gaea's Cradle. Even these two may be departing to make room for Garruk, Primal Hunter or Sensei's Divining Top. Top-deck fixing and draw power seem like higher priorities than land tutoring.
Considering adding Tireless Tracker as Romer made an appeal for it. It's inexpensive with obvious upside. I too hope the clue draws are more than a gimmick!

Gravepurge Notes

Testing Gravepurge as sideboard. Have found it's really only necessary against sweeper decks.

Pulled a couple of single space-takers out (Mad Prophet, Markov) replaced them with 3x Indulgent Aristocrat and an additional Fiery Temper. Sacked a bit of land and added 2x Evolving Wilds to help fish out land.

Took out the remands and added in mutagenic growth. Remand seemed to make the deck too slow and turned it into more of a tempo deck. Having the growths in there, I've been able to easily close matches on turn 3 or 4. Will probably put remand in the sideboard along with 2 or 3 dismembers for what path isn't enough.
Budgeting
NoahNocturnus, 9 years ago
Pretty much just had to purchase the Slivers and a couple lands/spells and the total came out to $45, so I achieved my budget goal! :D

Strionic Resonator

I just realized that I have +20 trigger effects and I think this would be a viable card in my deck. Any advice?
FNM - 4-0
lords2001, 9 years ago
So I won 4-0 at tonights FNM against W/G humans, Bant Company, mono-red Eldrazi and w/r/g midrange.
Star players were :
Mainboard Planar Outburst - if you can get a wipe you can come out ahead of, you are doing well. Quite often my opponents were setting up after winning the initial skirmish only to lose it all to a wipe. Can also come handy against aggro humans and thopters if you are behind - and you are always behind.
Wall of Resurgence - this makes Reality Smasher worthless, which can be a wincon all of its own. The fact that it also buffs your land is just super.
Mainboard Infinite Obliteration : I was short 2x Gideons, 2x Sorin and 1x Sylvan advocate, so in came Ayli (board updated to show) and 2x Infinite Obliterations. It ruined Bant Company by removing Reflector Mage, and my final opponent by removing Avacyn as a finisher. You need to be quick on the uptake to work out what to get rid of, but if you get it right its happy days.
Eldrazi Displacer This won me a couple of long games by buffing my team via dropping Wall of Resurgence and removing tokens from the game.
Ayli, Eternal Pilgrim I didnt have her in there initially until I didn't have cards and worked out I needed to improve my curve. Doesn't work at all with Sylvan Advocate mana wise, but means I can play early even if I am short one colour, stops most attackers in their tracks and allows me to remove creatures about to be destroyed and gain life for it too. Helped win quite a few games simply by giving me time against Sylvan Advocates and other 2 drops.
Linvala, the Preserver - her recovery skills are amazing. The number of times she would come in and gain me the life I needed to retake control as I could take more risks was awesome. And a 5/5 is gross. She was mainboarded every matchup.
Not so well : Archangel Avacyn Flip didn't do much as she is such a huge target she never survived long, but that was ok.
Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet was good on occasion but often just trades out.
I'm also thinking of maybe running Always Watching to make land creatures not tap out when attacking and ensuring I can actually beat w/g humans and angels - I was only saved in one game by timely Planar Outburst and in another by a double Declaration of Stone pull to clear the way.

Small update!

Removed 1x Dwynen, Gilt-Leaf Daen and 1x Evolving Wilds for 2x Cryptolith Rite. Rite has been doing some amazing work in this deck, obviously great for mana fixing and lets you negate that ping damage from Gnarlroot Trapper. Also helps with ramping into Sorin, Grim Nemesis and Woodland Bellower and lets you do some surprise plays with Eerie Interlude since you normally would have to use just lands cuz your elves cant help with that. Really love this card!
Removed Declaration in Stone from the sideboard because I got a good price on it and sold it, I recommend adding more of them in there but I only had 1 to begin with and I want to keep this decklist exactly as my deck is, added 1x Anguished Unmaking.
Thanks for reading!
