Simic Fluxmage Discussion

Hey hey! Check out my deck if you'd like some ideas on what to add. Remember to think of how the cards impact the game both when they die and when they come back, as well as how they affect your other creatures and the rest of the boardstate that's a good way to start cutting cards for a Marchesa deck. I'd remove Marchesa's Smuggler , Vigean Graftmage , Treasonous Ogre , Syr Konrad, the Grim , Simic Fluxmage , Pyreheart Wolf , and Undying Evil !

You should toss CMDR with astericks around it after Pir, Imaginative Rascal so both show up as the commander. Also, I'd recommend running more forests since your deck is more green than blue. Simic Fluxmage, Simic Manipulator, and Vigean Graftmage, Novijen Sages, and Plaxcaster Frogling can also be run to balance the blue instead!

Good luck!

Press into Service is +1/+1 counter steal spell that I forgot!

Hmmm. Mikaeus, the Unhallowed,Drana, Liberator of Malakir, and Feast on the Fallen seem like good options. Maybe Simic Fluxmage or Olivia, Mobilized for War, though I don't like the discard, but if you have Necropotence and the like that can be mitigated somewhat. It also occurred to me that Herald of Secret Streams and Flayer of the Hatebound might be good in here!

Hey dude :)This really look like my first version of Kumena. After several plays with my friends I realize the deck :1 - is too fast and you afraid others players so you have take the aggro too quickly and you have turn 3 or 4 everybody against you2 - is extremely vulnerable to wraths and every multiplayers deck have a whole bunch of it. Furthermore, it's extremely difficult to catch back the game after a wrath

It seems like you want to develop the +1/+1 counters theme. If you do that you should put Razorfin Abolisher because it can both save any of your creature with a +1/+1 counter on it and bounce any of ennemie creature with a counter on it. Simic Fluxmage is a great tool too for this kind of deck.Kopala, Warden of Waves was in my first version but he is in fact kinda useless in multiplayers formats where people play with wraths and where big amount of mana are involved.Inspiring Call, Heroic Intervention, Steely Resolve, Fallowsage are must have in your deck. And of course Kiora's Follower because he's one of the best combo piece of the whole game.Master of Waves and Wake Thrasher are maybe the best merfolks ever.Merrow Commerce is strong in duel but you would prefer Quest for Renewal or Intruder Alarm in multiplayer format.True-Name Nemesis is bad in multiplayer because you're telling to one guy "you can't attack me so you have to attack the others" and others are just going to blast it because of the 1 hp. Furthermore, kinda expensive.Having unblockable creatures + islandwalk is maybe too much. I kicked the islandwalk part because it takes too many cards to run it and you can't properly attack the manabase of 3 people like you will do in duel.

Keep in mind that Merfolk lords don't give +1/+1 counters to your other creatures. It's periodic and once they got killed it's over. That doesn't really fit your deck theme (except for the tribal part)

I don't think I have the best version of Kumena but I have already done several changes and I enjoy playing with it a lot, take a look :)

Snowman6The6Satan6 Simic Fluxmage and Vorel of the Hull Clade aren't standard, Herald of Secret Streams was in my prior to rivals build, but I think Tempest Caller fits better as a forced tapdown gives me an alpha strike even with non counter creatures, but I see the point with herald . Definately open to testing again with Herald again.

As for Deeproot Waters that is what I had in mind, I just dont know if adding tokens will dilute the deck focus too much.

I would say the Forgotten Ancient to make the deck modern legal, or the Simic Fluxmage Since the Fluxmage is just a deeply mediocre version of the Ancient.

Also you might wind up surprised how unnecessary Vorel of the Hull Clade is when you just get rolling with this deck. Comments on your maybe board: the Necroplasm is going to consistently be almost impossible to cast turn three with any budget mana base and Inexorable Tide is too heavy a drop for your deck if you're only going to run 20 lands, a two of include at most.

Archetype of Imagination - Costs too much, your drakes will fly. Other creatures should be for USEFUL utility or defense.

Dragon's Eye Savants - Very weak effect. If you really like to know their hand, Telepathy does that much better (don't recommend either)

Galecaster Colossus - Has some synergy with some wizards. It costs too much, even with potential synergy. You could replace this with an expensive counterspell or just more ramp/card draw.

Graceful Adept - See Reliquary Tower, Venser's Journal and Thought Vessel for a better replacement.

Mistfire Adept - Costs too much for what it does.

Paragon of Gathering Mists - Anthem affects are ok. They are usually considered "win more", meaning, if you are winning (have an advantageous board state filled with drakes/creatures), then they will help you "win more." If someone wrathed while you were tapped out and you draw this, then it will be effectively useless. You want to limit the number of "dead" cards in EDH.

Shorecrasher Elemental - No real way to abuse it (unless I'm missing something?). Replace with a 3 CMC counterspell, draw or bounce effect.

Simic Fluxmage - You are not playing simic, don;t use this card. Very weak effect with little to no synergy

Simic Manipulator - See above
