Hey y'all, scotchtapedsleeves here!

You've probably seen me around Tappedout, I've been here for a bit and I'm obviously here to stay!

I'm always available to help newer users, and I'm happy to help with any decks you need help on! Though keep in mind that it's always easier to help if you have a fully developed primer! Just comment on my wall below if you'd like some help!

About Me

I'm an amateur Magic player from Toronto ON, I've been playing for a couple months now, but I used to play extremely casually during the Innistrad block! I mainly play Mardu and Grixis colours, so I will be able to give the most detailed suggestions for those coloured decks!

I've got a few commanders I'd like to build outside of my colour section above. They're outlined in scotchtapedsleeve's Knowledge Pool

Argy Thanks!

Here you go.

If you are using a background image made by someone else it's polite to credit them somewhere.

Hellsing Thanks for that, I'll ask yeaGO about allowing it, though not even the animations, just fonts.

Well it is possible to have such css code that the animation or font changes depending on the viewport, my brother had that on his name.
Anyways it's restricted now. But I could test some things tomorrow and see if there's a workaround. Point is, idk if it would be allowed.

April 16, 2018 5:09 p.m.

Hellsing Yeah, if I were to do animations I would do something like that, but with the fire colours a la my username. I was thinking something more like a font and maybe have the style change depending on the screen size? That would be pretty cool

scotchtapedsleeves Regarding your comment,
Did you meant like this? I hade an animated username before but yeago didn't like it so the putting links to stylesheets doesn't work anymore in usernames (at least when I last checked but there are several ways to do this).

yeaGO I mean, true. But personally I'll still make my decks snazzy, I like looking at them.

April 21, 2018 11:53 a.m.

yeaGO If you did change it to automatically opt out, then I think it would make sense to pin a topic at the top of general or coding forums, probably general because many users don't dig deep enough to find the coding forums, that explains how to switch it back.

April 21, 2018 10:40 a.m.

Femme_Fatale Makes sense, or just have a pop up when you first join the site that asks if you want to see it?

yeaGO Is this possible? And maybe another pop up once you upgrade?

I understand where you're coming from with this, but I don't think that disabling css entirely will help the site. The many users that utilize it will be angry and people will leave the site.

I'm going to create a disclaimer that shows users how to enable/disable scripts and usernames on the site. I'll post this on my decks and user page.

Hey Argy, just a little background coding question. Do you mind popping me the code you used to get your red background on the profile? No matter what I try I can't get my picture to cover the whole screen, and not just the bottom left corner.

April 18, 2018 11:10 a.m.

I am of the opinion that deck pages are another great way to customize your impact on the site. In something like Elves of Dominaria, the page is flavourful and sticks to the deck's flavour. Even a small change, such as the one that I use in my Weenies Who Smile at Death, makes people think about your deck page for longer than they would with the usual bland black and brown. Using CSS in deck pages is a great way for people to show their artistic abilities, and their creativeness through another way other than the deck.

I acknowledge that some deck pages can be highly obtrusive, and can affect other viewer's computers, but I personally, and I know the creator of Elves of Dominaria has too, have added lines in to make sure that none of the styles load on a screen size smaller than a tablet. Also, stemming off of your second point, I have a lot of trouble remembering decks when they all look the same, if I am scrolling through deck pages and I see something I like, then I will keep it open in a tab, but when I see that I have over 20 tabs with decks open that all look exactly the same, it can be tedious to go through them and figure out which one had the properly developed primer, or the one card that I liked. With CSS deck pages, then even a simple background can set the deck apart from others on the site, and it is easier for me to find that deck.

As well, there are options in settings for people if they want to disable all CSS or usernames around the site, if they are of the unique few who don't want to see the deck pages.

Femme_Fatale I don't want to start an argument on this, but I disagree with you on that point. Users on this site tend to be drawn to imaginative usernames and such, and I personally am drawn to the deck pages that look different and fancy. Deck pages like Elves of Dominaria make people remember the deck, and the user in turn, making them pay more attention if they see future decks in the deckcycle by that user. You might have the opinion that the deck pages annoy you, but if you ask anyone in the playerbase, especially younger players, then you will see that they enjoy seeing edited deck pages, especially ones that are flavourful and relate to the deck.

Femme_Fatale-yeaGO, Hellsing contacted me on me profile, they used to have an animated username before yeaGO removed it. I completely understand how it might affect the site, it makes sense to not add that feature again. Femme_Fatale, I'm really hoping that the ability to link CSS files won't change, I haven't seen any problems with that, though yeaGO might have. A lot of people would not be happy with removing CSS files. People, including me, use the files to make our decks and profiles memorable and special.

yeaGO Makes sense, but on Femme_Fatale's profile editing tutorial, they said that it is possible, if I did, I would put a line in that would make the more difficult styles not show up on smaller view sizes, like phones. There would be nothing as complicated as animations, but more like a font or something.

I'm trying to make a CSS file that can link into my username, but I can't figure out the code that goes into my username. I can make the CSS file no problem, but what code do I put into my username editor to link to the CSS file?

Hey, is there any chance you will recreate your Name Style Generator? I was scrolling through the coding forum and saw it. It would be really useful to beginner upgraded users!

Oh whoops, made a mistake lol. The globe on your profile is saying where the viewer is right? I thought it was where you were...

Honest mistake, sorry about that!
