REWORK

blak7393, 11 years ago

So I just reworked the whole deck, after seeing how good the double striking soulbounder was i just had to add him to my deck. It's pretty much ramp into a loxodon paladin combo now what do you think?

ummmwut123, 11 years ago

so far against my friend, and granted this is one day, but he has defeated me almost every single time up until today. I played 4 games against two decks that used to beat me and i won every time by at least 14. also i know i should have said this in the description but i also need more wolfir silverhhearts.

Cody-

Okay I added in two . Garruk, Primal Hunter to see how well he works for You. He should produce chump blockers for when You slow and allow You that needed draw.

TCGPlayer Orlando 5k Update Coming Soon!!

mrbloo1848, 11 years ago

Went 5-2-2 at the tournament on Saturday 3/16 and placed 63rd out of 330. I wish I had won one more of those rounds and grabbed top 32 but I'm still pretty damn impressed by my and my deck's performance and this is definitely a list to be proud of. Details on matches soon!

Reddit edit

claymier2, 11 years ago

removed and added some cards to help the deck flow more, opting for more of a burn/draw deck with some counters thrown in. still feels like it would benefit from more control however, I just don't have that many options in my personal collection. haven't played with it yet, but I'm excited to get started.

Vampire removal

Dazzer27, 11 years ago

I have now thought about taking this deck a different way and putting some big vampires and demons along with some removal like doom blade and murder.

blinken, 11 years ago

went and play-tested it today. it did OK. got stomped continuously by a mono black. other decks it won a few but thats it. not fast enough for the decks out there now

bob112b, 11 years ago

replaced 1 Wee Dragonauts for 1 Brute Force

Stromkirk in, VexDevil out

papastanley, 11 years ago

-2 Vexing Devil +2 Stromkirk Noble - better vs Boros/Azorious. Another unblockable option who self improves with Way of the Thief

Also Added Mikaeus, the Lunarch, who surprisingly is CMC of 1, so fits the theme - helps things get bigger quicker once I've stabilised.

Haven't tested it yet - where I live we don't have FNM, but EOSM (every other Sunday Magic) with rotated formats...

FNM March 15

hollandboys, 11 years ago

Took this build to FNM like I said I was going to. One misplay cost me a spot in the top 8 but hey that's how you learn. I was pleased with how the deck had answers for almost any deck. Here's a summary:

Match #1: Played esper control (superfriends version). The guy is usually an easy win and is know to always use mill decks. However, I was surprised to see him dropping expensive cards such as Sphinx's Revelation, Tamiyo, the Moon Sage, Sorin, Lord of Innistrad, and Jace, Architect of Thought, so it made for a good game. Game one I was able to keep a good constant pressure going and he wasn't able to draw much to try and make up for it. Game two I only got 3 lands for the first 8 turns and he used Tamiyo, the Moon Sage to tap down my only green source. By looking at the decklist, you can probably see how troubling that is. Game 3 I sideboarded in Oblivion Ring and Vampire Nighthawk to try and take care of the planeswalkers, and they worked perfectly. I was able to pull it out 2-1.

Match #2: Played golgari homebrew. He got a bye in the first round and that was the only reason he was 1-0, so I was lucky to get this match-up. There wasn't anything too troubling about his deck, I was able to combat his early game pressure both games and once it went past turn 6 my deck just dominated. I won 2-0.

Match #3: Played esper spirits/control. This was the match that screwed me. It was against a friend of mine that had never beaten me before. Game one was very close, both dropping Obzedat at different times and it was back and forth. Then around turn 8 or 9 I missed a land drop where I should have played my Stomping Ground in tapped. I completely forgot to play it and my opponent wouldn't let me play it after I said end turn (kind of a dick move cause I would let someone and he actually did the same thing the next game, but whatever, my mistake). The next turn I would have dropped Kessig Wolf Run and swung for the win but because I missed the drop I didn't have a red source I couldn't, which gave him an extra turn to come back and win the game. Game two I was able to win with relatively no problems, two Sorin emblems helped a lot. Game three he sideboarded a lot so I was kinda worried, and for good reason. The first 6 turns of the game the only spell I resolved without being countered was Farseek. He somehow had a starting hand with 3 counterspells and 1 Snapcaster Mage in it, so I couldn't play anything. It was a very frustrating game and I was not happy about the misplay in the first game but I ended up losing 1-2.

Match #4: Played izzet burn. It was a fairly well made deck and was just too fast for me in the first game, with lots of cheap damage and Ash Zealot giving me problems. Game 2 I sideboarded in Vampire Nighthawk and Rhox Faithmender for more lifegain and I was able to Abrupt Decay his Ash Zealots and Guttersnipes. Game 3 went quite similarly to game 2. I won 2-1.

Match #5: Played 4c best-cards-in-standard. It wasn't really even a well made deck, he just kept dropping Huntmaster of the Fells  Flip after Thragtusk after Restoration Angel after Sphinx's Revelation after Bonfire of the Damned. Game one it was quite fast and I couldn't deal with it. Game two I was able to stop the early advance and the game ended up lasting approximately 30 minutes, with my life finishing at 57. Game three we didn't have much time so we were rushing. He got out two Huntmaster of the Fells  Flip which I did a decent job taking care of and I was in good shape to either get a tie or maybe squeak out a win. Then he top-decked Bonfire of the Damned, wiping my board and leaving me at 7 life. Then he swung exactly for lethal. I just had to cheer myself up by thinking that top deck was insanely lucky and it had nothing to do with my deck or how I played it, which is exactly true.

I ended up finishing 15th out of 46 people, so that's a decent result. I will keep tweaking and playtesting so that hopefully I can do better next time.

FNM 7:00 4-0-1 draw

Swordply, 11 years ago

Round 1: Dark Bant 2-0 Game 1: I got the nuts, 3 zombies on turn 2, into an artist when he was forced to board wipe. finished him with 2 consecutive aristocrats. Game 2: He survived a bit longer, dropping a thrag and sphinxing for 3 once, I got throught with aristocrat, then saccing for blood artist triggers. Round 2: Orzov Zombies 2-0 Game 1: Close, close game. He wouldve had me next turn, but I had searing spear and brimstone after swinging with my aristocrat. Game 2: One sided, He was too slow this time, finished him with resto on geralf after saccing him, and then saccing him again Round 3: Esper Walkers 2-0 Game 1&2: same guy as the FNM earlier in the day, went pretty much the same. Round 4: U/W Flash 2-0 Game 1: Got him just when he was making a comeback via brimstone volley. Game 2: He was mana screwed, forced to use azorious charms for draw against an aggro deck. Round 5: U/B Control: DRAW He had the upper hand but since we were the only undefeated players we just drew.

Overhaul

Ertl, 11 years ago

So... my meta has become a shit fest of who can aggro faster with Naya. Instead of joining the mass of Naya players, I am overhauling my decks to main board Naya hate, and side vs mid-range and control. As a result, I have removed the majority of my ramp, in order to get creatures out early on. Cathedral Sanctifier is a perfect turn one drop with a shock land. It leaves me at 21. I have found Loxodon Smiter to be a great three drop. Turn 4 Trostani, Selesnya's Voice is almost a instant win vs Naya for me. Griselbrand, Restoration Angel, Thragtusk, and Trostani, Selesnya's Voice are their to get my life over the top and win the game.
