Just as scary as I'd expect a sliver deck to be. Good work.

@ thedemonsday

As the Dark Confidant says, "Greatness, at any cost." lol

needs more Primal Surge

@Denjin : LoL,you got the point I think, just as thedemonsday did xD for the cost... fortunately,I half-completed the deck. The only cards I'll never buy are the double lands (Tundra ,Savannah ,Tropical Island etc. T_T)

@jan2692wal : I think you're totally right. I never considered about adding Primal Surge to this deck, but now that you made me watch closer,I understood I got ONLY permanents. So I can only thank you for the advice and replace Maelstrom Nexus with Primal Surge . You got eye! :)

well hey, you play your entire deck off of Primal Surge , and then they're all massive from the stat boosting cards, and have haste from Heart Sliver and shadow from Shadow Sliver . you win lol. and i'd change out Door of Destinies for Coat of Arms

True indeed xD and I kill infinite opponents by using Sliver Queen 's combos (like her combined with Gemhide Sliver ,Training Grounds ,Basal Sliver ,Firewake Sliver ,Sliver Legion ,Heart Sliver ,Brood Sliver and so on. Combos are unlimited xD).

Still,Coat of Arms is greatly replaced by Sliver Legion ,fortunately :) I prefer Door of Destinies because of the major utility it would give.

How often do you run into mana-related issues with this deck? you dont have alot of mana fixing and few mana rocks so im just curious

November 17, 2012 2:57 a.m.

Lowmar says... #8

Well,I must admit,it happened a lot of times, before I removed Fungus Sliver and Vampiric Sliver to add Badlands and Bayou . With 36 lands in the deck now,it never happened anymore (fortunately xD) (thought I got some mana fixers or accelerators like Chromatic Lantern ,Prismatic Omen and Gemhide Sliver ).

Plus, just looking at my mana curve, every single Sliver (except for Fury Sliver ,that is a finisher,so I think that's a little normal for him to cost 5R) costs 5 or less mana (everyone is around 2-3 cmc, really fast ones then),and lands aren't always needed a lot : calling forth Sliver Overlord is enough to start tutoring like a boss (Training Grounds FTW) and searching which slivers you'd like to have onto the battlefield to solve the situation.

I like this deck because it never lacks of resources (thanks to card:Volrath's Stronghold you can make your dead ones onto the battlefield again, and again, and again, and thanks to Yavimaya Hollow you assure your slivers longer life in the middle games, while Gavony Township makes your little ones becoming stronger) and has a lot of way to solve different situations (the utility of troll-creatures like Dormant Sliver ,Psionic Sliver ,Acidic Sliver ,Gemhide Sliver ,Frenetic Sliver ,Telekinetic Sliver and tons of others are just panacea for me).

There's only one ENORMOUS FLAW in this deck, and it's the price because of double lands (Badlands ,Tundra ,Savannah etc.). I probably will never have them T_T that's why I'm forced on using shock lands instead of them, while I'm playing with my playmates (Blood Crypt ,Hallowed Fountain ,Temple Garden etc.). Still,it works pretty well in any case, thanks to Amulet of Vigor (one of the best cards in there, since it accelerates colored mana production with vivid lands like Vivid Creek ,Vivid Marsh etc. and other ones that enters the battlefield tapped like Grand Coliseum ,Seaside Citadel etc.).

And Aluren ? With Intruder Alarm and Gemhide Sliver is a good combo! And with Dormant Sliver you can play a lot of sliver!!!

Aluren versus Quick Sliver . Alt text

Still, even thought Aluren is a very good card in there,I tested Intruder Alarm 's power in my last matches... whenever I saw it and Gemhide Sliver (and Heart Sliver /Firewake Sliver in early games),I usually won. Always xD Today I infinite mana comboed on turn 3. Alt text Here's how :

  1. TURN 1 : I play Ancient Ziggurat then Metallic Sliver .
  2. TURN 2 : I play Underground Sea then Gemhide Sliver .
  3. TURN 3 : I play Reflecting Pool then Intruder Alarm . Then I cast Heart Sliver . Match's over.

Isn't Primal surge game over if you cant kill off everyone in one go? You wont be able to draw next turn as you will have no deck? (fog = instant win against this?)

March 20, 2013 6:49 a.m.

Lowmar says... #12

Nope, there's no way to escape from a Primal Surge into your face, using this deck, and here I explain why :

These are the possible combination of what this deck can do when every single permanent is on the battlefield :

  1. Infinite mana : one of the simpliest combo you can ever see. You can get it by having Gemhide Sliver+Heart Sliver/Firewake Sliver+Intruder Alarm (if Primal Surge is cast in later games, something like after turn 5,let's say,Heart Sliver/Firewake Sliver isn't strictly needed). From this combo you can do different actions :
    1. Infinite tokens : Sliver Queen+Training Grounds+Gemhide Sliver+Heart Sliver/Firewake Sliver creates infinite TAPPED tokens. Unlimited mana AND UNTAPPED tokens may be created if also Intruder Alarm appears onto the battlefield. With infinite tokens you can do nearly unlimited things :
      1. Infinite combat damage : well, let's swing out infinite damage to each opponent. Even if they got infinite blocking creatures,I don't think it is a problem, thanks to Shifting Sliver. Even an instant Wrath of God or a Damnation (nor Fog as well) can do nothing : you can sacrifice them in response, creating even more combos like :
        1. Infinite non-combat damage : hurray for Acidic Sliver and Psionic Sliver! As we stated before, you got unlimited tokens and unlimited mana. It's fun, isn't it?
        2. Infinite life : hurray for Darkheart Sliver and/or Essence Sliver! As stated before, you got unlimited tokens. If you think that infinite lives can't save you from winning the game, you can always use Volrath's Stronghold to constantly put your creatures from the graveyard on top of your inexistent deck (if you played all cards in it). And if they destroy it... well, first they got to do it,then you can consider yourself dead, yes LoL
        3. Infinite nuisance (also translated as infinite coin flipping) : what about if you decide to try saving your infinite Slivers using Frenetic Sliver's ability? Have fun flipping a coin infinite times,LoL
        4. Infinite permanent destruction : hurray for Necrotic Sliver! As stated before, you got infinite tokens and infinite mana. Free your fantasy.
        5. Get infinite infinite/infinite Slivers : well, what about having Sliver Legion instead?
      2. Get all your creatures to infinite/infinite : Sliver Legion's already gone? Have fun with Mirror Entity then. And remember you got infinite mana,as stated before!
      3. Infinite Sliver stealing : yeah, that's the most pointlessy combo, but it still exists.

These are just some of the combo I got in mind. That's why when I cast Primal Surge, whatever turn it is,my friends give up.

Lurking Predators would be AMAZING in here because of all the creatures you play :) Also Coat of Arms however that one can hurt your deck just as well.

March 20, 2013 7:43 p.m.

Lowmar says... #16

@Entenei : yep, there are a lot of way to win using Primal Surge,as you see xD I love this deck for it :)

@Lazarus369 : LoL that's true sometimes xD not for me fortunately,my playmates have enough strong decks to challenge this as well u.u

@MTdude : I thought about adding Lurking Predators recently, still I don't know yet if is good to play it... and about Coat of Arms unfortunately I didn't think on adding it because,a lot of times, grants a great power to opponents as well xD

Shared Animosity should be in every tribal deck juss sayin.

I've found any Changeling, such as Amoeboid Changeling , and even Unnatural Selection have worked great for me. Stealing creatures left and right when you use Sliver Overlord 's second ability.

But I would recommend Aluren . It's done great work in my Sliver deck, especially when paired with Dormant Sliver

Also what are your thoughts on Crystal Quarry ? Say you have five lands but not in the color you need...there's your fix for the Legends. And Homeward Path to protect the Overlord if it gets taken from Mind Control.

April 4, 2013 5:13 p.m.

Lowmar says... #19

@xephslayer : Shared Animosity is a cool card for tribal decks,I must say, still I don't think I would put it in there right for now because this deck is a little more a nuisance one than an aggressive one,and my playmates have competitive decks as well,I must keep them off if I don't want to lose.

@Trmiller1326 : Yeah,I put Amoeboid Changeling in there as a must card,in first place, but then I removed it because of Crystalline Sliver . But,recently,I thought on adding it again,so I probably will consider this card (but not Unnatural Selection ,unfortunately... I don't like it because it can't be tutored up with Sliver Overlord unlike Amoeboid Changeling ). Still,if I decided to put Amoeboid Changeling in there again,I think that Homeward Path won't be that much useful... About Aluren ... well,I don't know... but I'm going to put it into my maybeboard right now. If I found an useless card in there (there are still some) I'm going to test its power right away. Talking about Crystal Quarry ,I'm sorry to tell you that I think it's really a bad,bad card... or,at least, this is my point of view. And I say that because you also need to tap it to activate its effect, meaning you have to spend 6 mana to get 5.

Gilenborn says... #20

have you thought about Mana Echoes ? that one along with a haste sliver (one of the 4) and a mana sliver (one of 2) yields infinite mana (painfully so with Sliver Queen )...

Also, have you considered fetch lands? Either the Zendikar/Onslaught ones (budget?) or the Mirage ones to fetch your proxied duals (or the shocks). I'ma actually running a full set of duals, shocks and fetches, and with just those, I have never had an issue with needing mana fixing.

Rather than Crypt Sliver , I'd run Clot Sliver since Crystalline Sliver gives all your slivers Shroud, Crypt is now useless, and it costs the same...

Also on a side note with Frenetic Sliver and tokens...as soon as the tokens leave the play zone they seise to exist, so using its ability on your tokens just wastes time. Additionally, in M:tG, there is no such thing as infinite (unless you like to loose)... you must choose a number. The rules specifically state that if an infinite loop occurs, the player that played the last ability/spell to cause the loop looses the game... so for this combo I recommend picking a large number (1 googolplex does nicely (thats 1x1010100))

Hibernation's End , Descendants' Path , and Call to the Kindred are all great in swarm/tribal decks, also consider AEther Vial and Heartstone
