Arcanis The Omnipotent

Commander / EDH

pwnsaw

This deck has only one goal: draw cards. Everything else is secondary to drawing cards. Timewarps with Arcanis are very profitable, enough extra turns in a row with an active Arcanis and you will either have combo or be pretty well set up.

Game Winning Combos:

A) Arcanis + Mind Over Matter + Kozilek(in my hand or deck)

--Infinite cards, Infinite mana, Infinite turns, it's true omnipotence. Still good without Kozilek.

B) Mind Over Matter + Temple Bell + Kozilek(in my hand or deck)

--Infinite draw for everyone. Sometimes requires a Teferi in play to seal the deal if your opponent plays a krosan grip and has three open mana.

Infinite Mana:

--Infinite mana is risky unless you are going to win with it. Requires Lightning Greaves, Elixer of Immortality, Capsize, or Memnarch to win. The haste giving artifacts are used so you can play Arcanis, draw three, use Arcanis's second ability, and then play Arcanis again, repeat as necessary.

C) Palichron + (Extraplanar Lens or Gauntlet of Power or High Tide)

--The simple infinite mana trick, fairly straight forward

D) Tidespout Tyrant + Trinket Mage + (Darksteel Ingot or Gilded Lotus)

--Infinite colorless mana from playing sol ring or mana vault with any other free artifact, then go infinite blue mana with the ingot or gilded lotus.

Solid, not infinite:

--If this happens once or twice you are close to winning the game in your opponents eyes. You should either slow roll these plays, or be ready to take a lot of hate from your opponents because you are now a target.

E) Arcanis + Thousand Year Elixer + Extra Turns

-- Drawing seven cards a turn, taking several turns, should be pretty helpful, especially if you chain multiple Timewarp effects together. Still good without Thousand Year Elixer, but nearly as back breaking for your opponents.

F) Timewarp effect + (Twincast or Echo Mage) or Timestretch

--Two turns in a row is a lot of time to get some work done. Your opponents don't take kindly to this sort of thing, but luckily you will have at least played Arcanis, drawn five cards, and gained some mana in the worst case scenario.

G) Consecrated Sphinx + (Jace or Temple Bell)

-- The sphinx alone is pretty powerful, and this gives you another round of cards off of him. Especially good if you have more than five mana untapped so you can timewarp.

This deck uses its counterspells very conservatively. It tries to ramp out an Arcanis, then fallback to "Island... go" while trying to keep Arcanis safe until a combo is assembled. I try to play some politics by making everyone draw cards off of Jace and temple bell. I have had Jace get to over twenty counters on him because I don't use his minus ability until I am trying to go for the win.
