Through all the color changes I have finally settled on Azorius.![Ajani's Presence feature for Azorius Heroes [Turn 4 wins]](http://static.tappedout.net/mtg-cards/journey-into-nyx/ajanis-presence_6-cropped.jpg)

cut a bunch of the shapeshifters, cards that were too expensive, and what i just didn't like to have after playing it for a bit. And I put in more UG creatures to tutor around with Momir, more big green creatures, some flash, and draw engines. I'd like to figure out what parts of this deck will work like I'd like (which is simic ramp) and what's just kinda useless

I really can't find a way for this to draw enough threats to beat control, I'm trying Trollhide cause regeneration, but I'm thinking about maybe switching to simic for Meletis Astronomer if I can't get the control match up to work.

FNM 2/21/2014: Went 7-1-1 last night and took second place out of 25. 2-0 verse Dimir Aggro: Pretty easy, his deck was a budget mill, unblockable, bestow deck. It didn't really do much. 2-0 verse Boros Midrange: Also really easy, it wasn't terribly fast and heavy on the white. The baron ate his deck alive and removal took care of threats. 2-0 BRW Control: His deck was really good but he could only interact with the baron with mizzium mortars which he never drew. Second game the baron got activated and was a 10/10 flying lifelink protection from black/white vampire lord, pretty easy. 1-1-1 verse UW Control: This deck was your standard UW control deck. Game one I had to double hero's downfall his Aetherling to remove it and couldn't draw another one for his Elspeth which eventually won the game. Second game I had an opening hand with 2 duress and 1 thoughtseize, he couldn't recover and won easily. Third game timed out with a draw. Overall a good night, deck performed as I had anticipated.

First FNM with this deck

Summary: This deck does really well against other decks. It's main struggle is in mirror match-ups. Those are generally decided on luck of the draw. Both of my losses were to mirror match ups who simply started faster than I did.
Overall Result: Placed 7th. Record of 3-2 (7-6 wins/losses). My LGS is filled with top-of-the-line tournament ready decks with players who know how to play them. Quite a competitive scene, so I'm overall pleased with this deck's performance.
Game 1: Mirror match-up (1 - 2) -- The first game was a blow-out for me. The second I was flooded. The third was stalemated for a long time until he managed to get a Xenagos, the Reveler and out-token me.
Game 2: Esper control (2 - 1) -- Dominated the first game. I made the mistake of not side boarding the next game and lost it. The third game was over quickly due to Mistcutter Hydra.
Game 3: Mirror match-up-again (0 - 2) -- Each game was so frustrating that I wanted to drop after that game. In both games our boards and hands were identical. It was ridiculous. But, once again, he started faster than I did and managed to win both games.
Game 4: Selesnya aggro (2 - 0) -- This game was a joke. Two turn 5 wins. Nothing to see here.
Game 5: Junk Reanimator (1 - 2) -- Games 1 and 3 were well in my favor even though I mulliganed to 5 card. Game 2 was rough for me and he pulled threat after threat.
So there it is. Overall, this deck seems to do really well against other decks.

I recently learned that Golgari isn't suited for aggro at all. Therefor I'm trying out control. Still working on the remaining cards, so the ones in the decklist are the cards that I actually own. Reset discussion as well.Ardoetia, 11 years ago
Added suggestions from ChiefBell. More damage on a specific creature type, and increased the potential mana gain
DishonestPast, 11 years ago
-3 Aura Gnarlid
-2 Bear Umbra
-4 Eland Umbra
+4 Keen Sense
+4 Ravorverge Thicket

Mod 1
zarjamar, 11 years ago
So, after letting my fiance look at the deck and taking Swamplurker's suggestingI'm making my first modification. Sage's Row Denizen was decided would have a greater impact than Returned Centaur, since almost all of my creatures are blue. This also means that the Guardians of Meletis woud have to go in favor of adding 4-ofs of the other defenders I have, now making each of my creatures blue.
We also added a sideboard into the deck. The Consuming Aberration serves the purpose of helping me to face down the fatties that are prone to appear especially in green and red decks, while the Elite Arcanist+Opaline Unicorn+Triton Tactics combo is there in case I feel like I'm not milling fast enough. Siren of the Silent Song is to help give me an edge in the sky, should I feel I need it. Here are the mods I have made so far:
-3 Guardians of Meletis, -4 Returned Centaur
+1 Wall of Frost, +1 Hover Barrier, +1 Duskmantle Guildmage, +4 Sage's Row Denizen
Added Sibeboard

Play testing phase

I've updated my deck list and made some solid changes. I don't plan on changing anything until I've played the current list more times then I can count.
brute042, 11 years ago
Removed 2x Gifts and put in a 4th Ajani and a third Blind.
fart123, 11 years ago
a lot of plus one counters and sacrificing. Elfs help with the high mana cost cards. Hope you enjoy
Always tinkering...

-Explosive Vegetation, +Cultivate
This deck cares more about going from 3 to 5 than from 4 to 6 or 7. It makes sense for me to play a redundant Kodama's Reach.
-Stormfront Riders, +Lurking Predators
Seriously, look at my creature count. Also, it'd be nice to have some non-creature permanents for Karametra's devotion
-Hedge Troll, +Lightning Greaves
I'm not sure that Hedge Troll is a card I want in a rampy EDH deck. It's just a 3/3 for 3. Not bad, but it'll easily get outclassed.
+1 Forest, -1 Plains
Getting that land distribution right is tough.

Probationary Cards
Tee_Yum, 11 years ago
Trying some new things. The following cards are included, or existing, but on probation: meaning mostly that I am suspecting they will be cut, largely due to being either A) Win More or B) Irrelevant with respect to the direction the deck is going, and what it does in most games.
Chromatic Lantern instead of another Forest
The cards in the maybe board are all inclusions that could potentially replace any of the above cards.

Round 1 2-0 vs Mono-White Enchantments: Deck was basically Hero of Iroas, and Eidolon of Countless Battles with Etheral Armor. Ate removal for 2-for-1's all day. Easy match
Round 2 2-0 vs U/W Ephara, God of the Polis: deck was annoying with a lot of flash, which made Anger of the Gods "less" good, but it still found most of my Hero's Downfall and Abrupt Decay. Fun match, something I haven't seen yet.
Round 3 2-0 vs Junk Midrange: Deck was hard, probably one of my more enjoyable match-ups. Voice of Resurgence was a force until I found an Anger of the Gods, late game yielded Blood Baron of Vizkopa, and Obzedat, Ghost Council. I have no way to deal with the Baron, but I was able to get off Vraska the Unseen assassins and seal the game.
Round 4 2-1 vs U/W Control: My hardest match-up first game, almost got there with Scavenging Ooze and Stormbreath Dragon. he stuck an AEtherling and I lost first match. Games 2 and 3 were all Slaughter Games, Mogis, God of Slaughter clock, and Xenagos, the Reveler beats, and pseudo-untargetable (in U/W) Stormbreath Dragon.
Round 5 2-1 vs U/W Control: (ugh again) Same story, just a different twist. I had him game 1, and I saw no sideboard game 2. Game 3 was a rampage with turn 4 Slaughter Games on Jace, Architect of Thought, and turn 5 Slaughter Games on Sphinx's Revelation. Turn 6 I dropped a Stormbreath Dragon and, with no answers, he conceded leaving me with 1st.
