Hey Everyone,
So here is the situation. Been playing edh for a very long time but it time to add a new deck to my bag. My group is very competitive, and we do not like reusing each other's commanders. So I need to pick a new one that is good and competitive in multiplayer.
Here is what's already taken:
animar, scion, zur, damia, mimeoplasm, azusa, kaalia, maelstrom wanderer, derevi, karador, ghave, narset, gitrog monster, omnath locus of rage, ezuri claw of progress, edric, general tazri, glissa, wort, nekusar, niv mizzet, jarad, rhys, uril, captain sisay
that's all i can think of lolsorry its so longanyways, any ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated. Looking for a general/deck that is fun and competitive

i sure am with it.
alt commander is Karn. he'll infinite sometime around turn 4 if i'm not durdling, and Ula easily gets out turn 1 or 2.

Sliver Overlord unless you're in my playgroup then... Just don't. There's also Oloro, Ageless Ascetic also known as 'board wipe for days until everyone concedes' and Prossh, Skyraider of Kher that's pretty decent. Those are the only ones I can think of that aren't on your list. Oh, and Roon of the Hidden Realm he's fun too.

Or you can go with a Humans route and use the new Sigarda, Sigarda, Heron's Grace.
I'm just a big fan of G/W for EDH because it has a lot of tools and answers.
June 3, 2016 1:34 a.m.
oloro feels like the most durdling deck of all time lol. Prossh is what I am leaning towards but I would like a deck that wins by more than just food chain lol.
Never thought of roon. how competitive is he?
for the colorless guys. how do you interact with other players and how consistent is the deck?
June 3, 2016 1:37 a.m.
How do you get out Ula on turn 1? I'm genuinely asking, not being a dick
June 3, 2016 1:38 a.m.
UpperDeckerTaco Thanks for sharing. I'll look at it. GW is pretty sweet. I used to play saffi. I don't like voltron decks though since i mainly play multiplayer. feels a bit slow

My deck isn't a Voltron deck lol. And the new Sigarda would and should not ever be a Voltron deck.
June 3, 2016 2:32 a.m.
If you want a good budget deck then Talrand, Sky Summoner can be made to be pretty competitive. My deck, Talrand and His Minions of Flying Doom, isn't the most competitive out there but it has an incredibly good win rate and can always be upgraded.

I've seen some some pretty sweet Selvala, Explorer Returned decks.
I plan on building one myself soon.
Colors/strategies you prefer?

I'm gonna 3rd or 4th Prossh. Many other ways to win without food chain. He just screams I'm badass. Come and get some.

Oloro, Ageless Ascetic isn't all that durdley. He is, at least the way I play him, more "buckle up and combo out". Wraths are a thing in the deck, but that is to keep other people scrambling while you are preparing to combo.
Arcum Dagsson is a powerful commander that I don't see on your list and no one has mentioned. I feel he is one of the more powerful commanders.

There's also Tasigur, the Golden Fang & Ezuri, Renegade Leader Elfball

Play Merieke Ri Berit and other Old Man of the Sea style creatures and just run ALL the untap mechanics. Trust me, it's simply beautiful.
Also, Karlov of the Ghost Council life gain is really strong - commander damage lethal by turns 4/5 and a built in reusable exile effect is formidable.

hand: a combination of Voltaic Key Sol Ring Mana Vault Grim Monolith Ancient Tomb Mana Crypt and Lion's Eye Diamond.
but thats the hard way. its easier just to Mana Vault Sol Ring Voltaic Key Thran Dynamo Voltaic Construct Karn, Silver Golem and Ancient Tomb. this happens on turn 2, however, but it is still infinite mana.

Kurkesh, Onakke Ancient is pretty powerful. It can be reasonably expected to win on turn 6-8, assuming you didn't rip gold or brick. My list tries to lean heavily on very few actual red spells, but he's pretty adaptable, and not overly expensive, though I wouldn't call him budget either.
June 3, 2016 1:45 p.m.
A $300-500 god hand doesn't sound "easy"
Both the scenarios you mentioned include 7 cards. Not likely to draw within the first 2 turns
June 3, 2016 3:14 p.m.
greyninja they weren't very clear, I think that the hand just needs to have certain combinations of those cards, though it isn't specified which combinations.
June 3, 2016 3:19 p.m.
PROSHH!!! There are different ways to build around him but he is alot of fun!!
June 3, 2016 4:02 p.m.
Gidgetimer says... #25
You need 6/7 in the turn 1 scenario. You need everything except the Voltaic Construct turn 1 in that scenario and the Voltaic Construct turn 2. It does seem like a bit of jumping through hoops though when you can have infinite mana turn 2 with Ancient Tomb (or any sol land), Sol Ring, and Rings of Brighthearth turn 1 and Grim Monolith turn 2. You can turn that to a turn 1 infinite mana instead of exactly 10 by adding Mana Vault and Mana Crypt but that is again 6 cards on turn 1.
June 3, 2016 4:47 p.m.
Ah okay. Thanks everyone! So it's certainly possible, and you don't have to play any cards you wouldn't otherwise play in an EDH deck, it's just not all that likely. That would be pretty crazy to see though!
Maybe I'm in the minority, but I don't even mind it when opponents do crazy busted stuff like that. I just like seeing crazy stuff happen in commander games.

Gidgetimer perhaps this is a stupid question, but what is a Sol land? From the context, I'm guessing it's any land that can tap for 2 or more mana? Playing off of Sol Ring?

Ashmed thanks for the input. budget is not an option for me really. ill definitely look at your list though.
robo12385 i used to play norin way back when before it got super popular. its not too competitive but more fun and troll like.
DasTree goodair what other ways are there to build him? idk much besides the food chain.
chirz2792 marath is decent. its a house in 1v1
thank you everyone so far that has taken their time to give me some ideas. my preferred type of playstyle is combo and aggro. my only thing about combo is i do not want to play cards that can only work with one other card. for example. "nev disk, lattic, forge." "prossh & food chain" "basalt monolith & power artifact"
cause in my group when they figure this out. they WILL get rid of one of at least one of your pieces.

It's sounds like Sydri, Galvanic Genius is what you're looking for. Artifact combo that can beat face if it needs to.

Prossh - Tooth and Nail into Purph and Avenger of Zendikar. Kills an opponent almost immediately. They took out purph? Impact Tremors deals 1 damage instead of 2. don't like that? drop a Craterhoof Behemoth and watch them all just fold. None of those use Food Chain. there is more than one way to build a prosh deck and more than one way to take advantage of him. The versatility is what also makes him a beast. Sac his kabolds and each opponent loses 1 life each thanks to Zulaport Cutthroat.

Mana Reflection + Ashnod's Altar + Phyrexian Altar + Endless Cockroaches
there are easier ones, but no one sees the cockroaches comming.

Are you sure that works? Mana Reflection says when a permanent is tapped it produces twice as much mana. You don't tap the altars for the mana.

skoolxbo1,
You might find this list useful: [List - Multiplayer] EDH Generals by Tier, by thegigibeast. It represents a community consensus, so your experiences may are almost guaranteed to vary.

FYI, here's how the other Commanders in your group supposedly stack up:
- Tier Two: Captain Sisay; Ghave, Guru of Spores; Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord; Kaalia of the Vast; Maelstrom Wanderer; Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind; The Gitrog Monster;
- Tier Three: Azusa, Lost but Seeking; Ezuri, Claw of Progress; General Tazri; Glissa, the Traitor; Nekusar, the Mindrazer;Omnath, Locus of Rage; Rhys the Redeemed; Uril, the Miststalker; Wort, the Raidmother

Yes sol lands are lands that tap for 2 colorless and don't come in tapped. I thought that there were more than two but apparently I could have just listed Ancient Tomb and City of Traitors. Mishra's Workshop can be used turn 2 infinite mana with Sol Ring, Rings of Brighthearth, and Grim Monolith all played on turn 1 and 5 card turn 1 infinite mana with Mana Crypt. All of the others don't work for a turn 2 infinite mana.
