This is your typical Relentless Rats deck but for the commander/EDH format. Basic strategy is to play as many rats as possible and attack your opponents as quickly as possible. Grenzo, Dungeon Warden works as a great commander for a Relentless Rats deck because you can play him for only two mana and and cheat rats into play with Grenzo, Dungeon Warden 's activated ability. Just remember you to use his ability on the end step of the last players turn before your turn so whatever goes into play is less likely to die. This deck has very little draw and late game capabilities. The deck makes up for this by being able to produce burst of mana which it turns into rats with Grenzo, Dungeon Warden 's activated ability.

How you play your opening hand is up to you really. Either playing Grenzo, Dungeon Warden early and dumping mana into his ability so you can keep your hand full is one option or you can do the opposite and wait until you have an empty hand to play him and dump all of your mana into his ability then as a last resort. The usual tempo of this deck is play Grenzo, Dungeon Warden turn 2, play a Relentless Rats turn 3 and use Grenzo, Dungeon Warden 's ability twice on turn 4 then work from there. In your opening hand go for; 2-7 lands/ramp cards and 1-4 other good cards noted bellow.

Notable Cards Show

( Crucible of Worlds ) is extremely useful because the only card there are more of in this deck than there are Relentless Rats cards are land cards. This means you are likely to dump a lot of land cards into your graveyard using Grenzo, Dungeon Warden 's ability and they are now playable. This almost guarantees you will play a land a turn which will help you transition into late game.

( Crypt Ghast ) lets you ramp a ton because 80% of this deck is black so almost every land in this deck can produce black mana. You can pour every left over mana you have into Grenzo, Dungeon Warden 's ability.

( Heartstone lets you double the amount you can use Grenzo, Dungeon Warden 's activated ability.

( Illusionist's Bracers ) also let you effectively double the amount you can use Grenzo, Dungeon Warden 's activated ability.

( Mana Echoes ) triggered ability, with enough rats in play, will allow you to dump your entire library into play by continuously using Grenzo, Dungeon Warden 's activated ability. This usually results in a win your following turn.

( Crystal Ball ) lets you look at the top two cards of your library allowing you to tuck any Relentless Rats cards then play them using Grenzo, Dungeon Warden 's ability. Powerful filter affect that allows you to draw better cards.

( Braid of Fire ) left in play for too long can start producing some serious mana which translates to producing a lot of rats. The only downside is you have to use this mana during your upkeep which means any rats put into play will have to wait a whole turn before they can attack.

( Marrow-Gnawer ) lets you generate tons of vanilla 1/1 rats. This may not seem super useful but it will supply you with many chump blockers and synergizes well with cards like Coat of Arms and Homura, Human Ascendant .

( Ratcatcher ) allows you to tutor up Marrow-Gnawer , then one guaranteed Relentless Rats play per turn.

( Liliana of the Dark Realms ) first ability guarantees you one land drop a turn for a while which helps you transition into late game. If you manage to get her ulti off then you will be able to activate Grenzo, the Dungeon Warden's ability an absurd amount.

( Thrumming Stone ) makes Grenzo, Dungeon Warden 's ability obsolete because you know non- Relentless Rats cards will be on the bottom of your library. Thrumming Stone 's ability is more efficient than Grenzo, Dungeon Warden 's ability however because it triggers off of itself letting you spew a stupid amount of rats into play.
