2 card change
MTG-Eternities, 3 years ago
.Sweet-gum recluse has left the deck for rings of brighthearth for quicker kills. so far it has worked out well. 2ndly vivian reed has left the deck for lolth. she draws cards, gives us more spider synergies, not that her ultimate matters too much. SO card she has been great as well. We might find room for vivian again, but her ultimate and lolth directly hurt each other so it might be difficult.

Out- Orcus. That wasn't long, but not worth the mana investment for meaningful removal. In- Author of Shadows
+1/+1 counters

Decided to really start pushing the +1/+1 counter theme. And made some other changes for efficiency.
More compact combos

Thassa's Oracle is basically a winning line with Reveillark, Karmic Guide, and Azami, but that honestly feels unnecessary. I already have Venser to bounce everyone's everything and I'm not sure the 2 generic CMC discount is worth the redundancy. It is a wizard, which has some side benefits for Azami and the like. Instead of that relatively complicated win-con, I'm much more interested in trying out the two card combo of Elesh Norn and Nature's Revolt. Living Plane is certainly better, but alas, damn reserve list!

The Tarrasque is cute but entirely underwhelming at 9 mana.
Klauth, Unrivaled Ancient looks like a bad impression of Neheb. If it cost less I'd be more inclined to try it. Old Gnawbone is much more interesting of the two.
Klauth's Will is a decent take on Earthquake, but rather costly, misses too much of the field, and kills Radha when cast. I'll pass.
Whiffing on Wild Endeavor is far too punishing to consider it.
Dragonborn Champion is fine, but I don't know what it'd be better than.
Lair of the Hydra is neat.

With Natural Order going to 3 points, new possibilities open up. In an attempt to up the card quality of the deck and take out my least favorite sac fodder pieces (Butcher Ghoul, Doomed Dissenter, and Pawn of Ulamog) I have been toying with the idea of adding a Birthing Pod package (Birthing Pod, Safehold Elite, Kitchen Finks, and Melira, Sylvok Outcast). Would need to cut a 1 point card to fit this in, leaning toward Crop Rotation being cut. This would provide even more utility for Green Sun's Zenith and allow me to play overall better cards. The only issue would be playing Melira in the deck, as she does not do much for us unless we are comboing. Another option with another point opening up would be to slot in Jitte after cutting crop rotation, giving us a better Stoneforge package as well as helping shore up matchups against creature based decks.

Switched out golgari charm for sudden spoiling. Sudden spoiling has way more utility against the primary way people would stop this deck... from not having their mana drain. Golgari charm is great, but my hope is that the deck will be able to survive on its own enough for sudden spoiling to be useful for politics, and punishment for scoffing at my gift of mana.Post-Covid Updates

Removed:
- Steel Hellkite - Honestly, this one hurts to remove, but I've never really hit anyone with it. If I really feel like I need more removal again, he mind find his way back into the deck.
- Krark-Clan Ironworks - I never really want to sacrifice my artifacts, and usually, I wind up having my turn taken by an untimely Emrakul or Mindslaver and having all my stuff sacrificed. No good there.
- Prototype Portal - This could lead to a lot of fun interactions and synergies, but I kept finding it in my hand at the worst of times.
- Karn Liberated - He really did nothing for this deck. I really just had him in there because I had the pretty full-art foil.
Added:
- Diamond Lion - Fast mana, and dumps our hand to be refilled by Kozilek. Pretty neat deal.
- Shimmer Myr - More Flash is always good. Means I don't have to rely solely on Vedalken Orrery
- Wandering Archaic Flip - A recent card that is VERY nice to have. If I can sneak this out early I can benefit on others' ramp as well.
- Endbringer - Good ol' reliable card draw. Something that is so sorely needed in this deck.
Future Changes:
- Yavimaya, Cradle of Growth - Basically a second Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth. Makes my non-mana lands tap for mana.
- Urza's Saga - This card is kinda crazy. It's a land that tutors a sol ring.
- Mystic Forge - Might undergo a trial run in the deck. Playing more cards off the top of my library may feel a bit better.
- Manifold Key - It's just a better Voltaic Key
- Introduction to Annihilation - 5 Mana spot removal. Yes, please.
- Introduction to Prophecy - A decent draw option. I don't know if this will make it in, but it's looking nice.
- Magistrate's Scepter - This is a bit of a weird add. But I may be able to generate enough mana and untap enough that it could be worth it. Definitely not a solid pick.
The chopping block:
- Emrakul, the Promised End - It breaks my heart to exclude one of the Titans, but I don't get to play her that often. And when I do play her, it typically doesn't benefit me greatly.
- Solemn Simulacrum - Sad Robot IS an EDH staple, but looking at him in this deck, I don't know if he has a place. He's 4 mana to grab one land. That's a 4 for 1 return. I could add a small rock like Prismatic Lens and have a better investment.
