Removed Dictate of Heliod, Fresh Meat, Reviving Melody, Honor of the Pure,Wrap in Vigor, and Intangible Virtue
Added in Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite, Tolsimir Wolfblood, Strionic Resonator, Mirari's Wake, Privileged Position, and Primeval Bounty.
The dictate got cut because Tolsimir Wolfblood is nearly as strong for one more mana, and easier to get out. Honor of the pure got cut because it did the least of my enchantments. Intangible Virtue will probably go back in if I cut some of my land or land tutoring. Fresh Meat and Wrap in Vigor left to get room for the new enchantments, and the resonator will hopefully let me get a much larger field by resonating things like Trostani's Summoner, Myr Battlesphere, or Thopter Assembly

The new old thing.

So today I learned an important lesson. I learned that I cannot lose sight of what the deck once was and what it should be. I got curb stomped today. I played in the GPT for GP San Diego. I went 2-3. But the score isn't what matters. It's that the deck lost focus. So I am updating it. I am going hyper Fate Unraveler with the mill in board. That's all for now.

Sadistic Intentions
Pedrodamus, 9 years ago
+1 Sadistic Sacrament
+1 Dark Depths
-1 Swamp
-1 Spine of Ish Sah
Sadistic Sacrament is a great card, too good to not run in a black control deck. Spine does serve a great function for mono-B when we can't deal with certain permanents, but getting rid of 3 (or 10) permanents before they ever become a problem seems even better; Sacrament can seriously neuter any deck.
Dark Depths is a no brainer after the synergy was pointed out to me with Vampire Hexmage.

Updated the deck to cards I own and went to my LGS for some Modern fun. First match was against a Through the Breach build which can be be pretty scary and fast. I went first game 1 and took him by turn 4 or 5 with 4 Strangleroot Geist's. He got breach in the second game and sent out Emrakul, the Aeons Torn which literally forced me to scoop everything on my side. Third game was quick and dirty with turn 2 Scavenging Ooze feeding on his Sakura-Tribe Elder's and buffed with Rancor. Granted he shocked and fetched himself almost half to death. Match 2 and 3 went smoothly against some combo decks that just couldn't get off quickly enough. Last match was against an awesome elves deck that could have around 10 mana or so by turn 3. He just couldn't get his infinite draw/play scenario to work right before having to start chump blocking with his elf horde. The second and final game of the match was the most memorable of the night for everything worked out fantastically.
T1-Arbor Elf
T2-Utopia Sprawl + Strangleroot Geist +Rancor
T3-Vorapede
T4-Mistcutter Hydra X=5 + Rancor

More RG Devotion
galaxyman7, 9 years ago
-1 merciless executioner, -1 fleshbag marauder, +2 archfiend of depravity -2 Sultai Emissary, +2 Forge Devil sideboard: Added 4x Despise, 4x Crux of Fate I have playtested many of the potential sideboard cards against RG devotion, and by far the most game changing card against them is crux of fate. Their game plan is to drop all the creatures they can very fast, so naturally a board wipe is very good. So 4 into the sideboard. Despise is also good against them for taking out anything that dodges the crux of fate, like xenagos, whisperwood, or atarka. I also included the archfiend of depravity in the mainboard, because it really works well with the marauders and executioners. They sac all their wimpy guys, and then are forced to sac their good guys when it comes back to me. The card is extremely good against RG devotion, and is just a nice big flying creature that can hit their annoying planeswalkers. I figured I didn't need 8 copies of the fleshbag/marauder, so I took out a few. I was looking for a replacement for sultai emissary, and I was thinking that Forge Devil might be pretty awesome. It fits my ETB game plan, and takes out their elvish mystics early. Late game it is cool for copying off flamerush or flameshadow to kill tokens and stuff.
Reverting back to Abzan
TheEmgee, 9 years ago
Thank you all for being on this journey with me. I am constantly testing this deck to find the best balance for Tainted Remedy. Your ingenious suggestions have helped tremendously. For those who just saw this deck, I originally made it Abzan but switched to Mardu. But after testing new ideas, I decided to revert back to my original colors. This is mainly because of cards like Nature's Claim, Harold of the Pantheon, and a few others. I am also trying out a new approach; I am making this enchantment heavy with some creatures and artifacts for support. I will be more control this time around (limiting or disrupting my opponent game plays). I hope you enjoy the changes. :)
Out of Retirement

Ricky Bobby has decided to return to Magic so that I can have a 60 card deck ready to play since not many people seem to play EDH at my local shop. Hopefully I won't get sick of it again any time soon.

Play testing
JerryConn, 9 years ago
Found a nice little trick, if you have Cleric of the Forward Order + Sunbond in play with any amount of +1/+1 counters on it, you can play Abzan Battle Priest during your main fase before combat, and effectively double the strength and toughness of any card that has Sunbond equipped. If i keep my Nyx-Fleece Ram in play from turn 2 onward then i have a unlimited multiplier buff every time i swing with Cleric of the Forward Order + Sunbond . This is all before Ajani's Pridemate is on the board.

FNM
Kurremkarmerruk, 9 years ago
I got my ass kicked at an FNM. I showed up and bought a booster pack, and pulled an Alhammarret's Archive and put in my deck. In fact, I didn't have all the cards I needed so I had made a few minor adjustments, but it didn't matter because I lost 0-3.
Round 1 was interesting because I did manage to almost mill out my opponent on our 2nd game. I had a Tutelage out and pulled some draw card spells and I got him down to 8 cards, but he managed to get in one last swing for the win. We had a crowd watching so it was exciting.
Round 2 & 3, I was pulverized by Elf decks run with Collected Company and Might of the Masses. It was devastatingly fast.
Last week, I played a draft and had Honored Hierarch with my Sphinx's Tutelage. It was an interesting combo, so I've made some changes to this deck and will play test this for awhile. I also added Ordeal of Nylea to boost the Skulker and get some lands out quickly. Seems like a good idea.
Because I want to run creatures with my Tutelage, I'm going to have to keep tweaking this thing. I decided to run a set of Mind Sculpt to let me easily swap out cards in my side board. It's not the greatest card, but it fits the theme.
