With the sudden legality of un-cards in commander, I felt I should make a deck that utilized one of the incredibly interesting legendary creatures in Unstable, without making a deck that was too silly.

The deck is incredibly simple, containing heavy removal, protection for the Count, and ramp to allow for me to get my combo off, and to do it again. Strionic Resonator hopes to double the ability trigger for multiplayer games, or to trigger Purphoros, God of the Forge again as my second win condition, with damage hopefully doubled by The Countdown Is at One.

In addition to keeping an eye on my curve, I had to consider a balance in numbers on card text. I had to make sure that every number between 1 and 5 were equally represented, or at least close, as each one is equally important to finishing the combo. Because 5 is the first number you must represent on a spell you cast to begin the countdown, I tended to take cheaper cards that mention 5 in their text or power/toughness, rather than have to wait until I could cast something with 5 in it's mana cost.

Certain cards, like Staff of Domination, Chandra, Torch of Defiance, and Zulaport Enforcer have all 5 numbers within their text, and are always something you want to draw, no matter where the countdown is at. I have found, however, that sometimes it's best to not to cast something on early turns before you can stick the Count, to avoid running out of gas too early, if you don't have Phyrexian Arena or Arguel's Blood Fast ready to play.

I hope that by creating a deck that uses un-cards that are interesting rather than annoying to play with and against, and using them sparingly, the deck will be allowed within my playgroup for a while to come, even after the rebanning of the un-sets.
