The Abzan House of Horrors - Teneb EDH

Commander / EDH BGW (Abzan, Junk) Reanimator

EmberNeo

With the Abzan, nothing really truly stays dead. At least, that's how it is with this deck. Either build an army to overrun your enemies or strategically sacrifice your troops for bigger gains, the choice really is yours.

General Strategy: This deck has 2 possible routes to victory. Firstly is just by building a massive army of bodies and then sending them all in. The second route is much more fun. The aristocrats/reanimator strategy is typically used in either Mardu or Golgari colours. However, I decided to go with Abzan, thanks in part to their innate ability to screw opposing graveyard decks. Hence, Teneb as my general.

Sac outlets:

The deck isn't a fast combo sacrifice deck. No no, this is more of a value-oriented deck. Things like Ashnod's Altar, Altar of Dementia, Yahenni, Undying Partisan and Skullclamp serve as sacrifice outlets, along with spells that have an additional cost of sacrificing a creature. Yahenni himself can serve as a wincon, especially when tied with Butcher of Malakir and Teysa Karlov.

Card draw/filling up the yard: From one-time use sorceries like Ransack the Lab and Morbid Curiosity, to repeatable effects like Guardian Project, Altar of Dementia, Underrealm Lich, and Liliana, Death's Majesty, filling up the graveyard will take some time but it really gets going once I've set up the engine. Liliana also provides a single-use recursion every turn, provided she has enough loyalty on her.

Ramp: The usual suspects are here. Kodama's Reach, Cultivate, and Skyshroud Claim are all present, along with a suite of mana rocks that include Sol Ring, Selesnya Signet, and Darksteel Ingot and small creatures that help find lands like Elvish Rejuvenator, Sylvan Ranger, and Satyr Wayfinder, all of whom are essentially sac fodder once they hit the board. This was another reason why I picked Abzan to make a reanimator deck with.

Wincons: Control the board with Butcher of Malakir and other sac effects, and then swing in, or slowly drain them with effects like Blood Artist, Poison-Tip Archer, and Syr Konrad. If we hit late game and have enough recursion effects and sac outlets, we can nuke people with Lotleth Giant.
