This deck was created for the DragonShield Deck Challenge. Aquaman is represented by the commander Prime Speaker Zegana, for not only their use of a trident as their main weapon but for their role as a leader of their people. I chose a Simic commander in order to reflect the fact that he is a child of both a human from land and an Atlantean from the sea.

His role as king and protector are best depicted in Lord of Atlantis and Master of the Pearl Trident. As king, he must give orders which is represented by Admiral's Order. He is part of the Justice League, which is represented by Sword of Truth and Justice. Altered Ego represents that Aquaman has another identity as Arthur Curry. Courage in Crisis depicts the common trait that all heroes have when facing danger.

As the ruler of the seas, Aquaman not only is the commander and protector of his people but all aquatic life. Hence why not only not only there are merfolk, but also a shark, turtle, leviathans, hydras, and even an elemental whale. Telepathy represents his power to telepathically communicate with aquatic creatures and ask for their aid in battle. Hardened Scales and Doubling Season represent how the strength of the sea can accumulate, just like how millions of drops of water form the ocean. Inexorable Tide represents not only the tide of battle, but the tide of the ocean itself.

Some cards represent those who are closely connected to Aquaman. Plaxmanta and Manta Riders both depict the Black Manta, his enemy who is also his half brother. The Wishful Merfolk represents his mother Atlanna. The Fathom Mage is his wife Mera. Roalesk, Apex Hybrid is Superman. Death's Presence represents the death of his son Arthur Jr.

I purposely picked lands that emphasized water and being underwater, with the exception of the forests. Shrine of the Forsaken Gods represents the ocean gods that have been forgotten that he can restore and call with his aquatelepathy.
