Elusive Krasis Discussion

CommanderEesha on Flashing is illegal?

I'm reluctant to take out Dryad Militant because I want to keep the curve very low. Elusive Krasis hasn't been quite fast or impactful enough when it hits the table, but I may need to look more into that. Moving Thalia to the mainboard could be interesting, that might go in for Elvish Visionary. Selfless Spirit typically is only needed against sweepers since I have many other hexproof cards, so I'm not sure if I would sacrifice any mainboard slots for it. I have been toying with adding in some Path to Exiles or Vapor Snags, but then I wouldn't be as comfortable running Thalia... Thanks for the comment and upvote!

Tuskguard Captain: It gives trample plus it can give itself counters.

Vorel of the Hull Clade: Doubles counters. 'nough said.

Gilder Bairn: Also doubles counters and isn't legendary, but you have to untap it to use its ability. there are many ways around this, but still the biggest drawback.

Servant of the Scale: One drop that gives out counters when it dies.

Slitherhead: Scavenge for zero.

Avatar of the Resolute: It's a cheaper Cytoplast Root-Kin.

Thrummingbird: Proliferate at 2 with evasion.

Nissa, Voice of Zendikar: Use the -2 like it's going out of style.

Bioshift: If someone casts a kill spell, this will save all of those precious counters.

Strength of the Tajuru: It's Comet Storm in green that's all about those counters.

Scavenging Ooze: Eats graveyards.

Scute Mob: The beetles grow ridiculously fast for only one mana.

Fungal Behemoth: It's funnier Avatar of the Resolute.

Fertilid: Counters or you can pull out the rest of your basic lands, reducing the size of your library and making it easier to pull up spells.

Spincrusher: A reasonable substitute for Elusive Krasis.

Contagion Clasp: Proliferate plus a -1/-1 counter for something you dislike.

Epochrasite: Two drop that keeps coming back with counters.

The search I did to find these cards is here.

Another quick note about Elusive Krasis he will evolve every creature in this deck with evolve and that's a well spent 3 mana.

@ hunkers ya I rarely use Cyclonic Rift I've been considering removing it i just didn't know what for but Vorel of the Hull Clade seems like a very good one. Easily double the counters on a Gyre Sage. As for Elusive Krasis (EK) yes he costs 3 to get out but he is a 0/4 . 3 of the creatures in this deck ETB as 0/1, 2 of them can evolve. EK will evolve those 2, he is a 0/4 blocker against agro, he can't be bolted, he has unblockable and can grow very easily so he could be my only attacker if needs be, and he will evolve if a servo comes into play which in this deck is a very big deal. So he actually does a lot :)

@gearturner27 Master Biomancer, Doubling Season, and Hardened Scales are all replacement effects so the would not be effected by Panharmonicon. Hardened scales would only go a second time because the evolve would happen twice.

Elusive Krasis is expensive and barely does anything. And how often has Cyclonic Rift been useful? Add Hardened Scales and maybe Experiment One or Vorel of the Hull Clade instead.

The first thing you need to do is clear up your deck to have all modern legal cards. If you're trying to mill people out with Sphinx's Tutelage, you're going to want two things.

1) Ways to filter for the card and 2) Ways to protect the card.

The first is fulfilled by cards like Serum Visions, while the second is met by cards like Remand and Spell Pierce.

The biggest issue I see with your deck is that it is much too slow. Not trying to discourage you, but burn, affinity, dredge, and others are going to be consistently killing by turn 4.

Personally, I would take your deck in the bant direction. Add white and replace the overcosted Wall of Frost with Wall of Omens. It also replaces itself by drawing a card and stalls, which is what your deck needs. Then it would also have access to Path to Exile, arguably the strongest removal in the format.

Elusive Krasis seems like win-more strategy. Not sure if it's what you want, and it's pretty slow.

You want ramp. The best would be Noble Hierarch, but Birds of Paradise can be used as a sub since you're on a budget.

Finally, your land base needs some retooling. Strict tap lands are generally too slow unless they give you a utility or creature (i.e. Celestial Colonnade). You really want 4 shock lands, in this case Breeding Pool.

I'm not 100% familiar with the best cards to pair with Sphinx's Tutelage since I left standard a year ago at least, but you can find deck lists that abused it. I would do some research on it.

Hope some of that helps.

I too run an Ezuri Claw of Progress deck. I suggest getting Vorel of the Hull Clade for insane counters. And Elusive Krasis for unblockable damage you can stack a ton of counters on. Craterhoof Behemoth is an insane wincon since you will already have huge creatues and this buffs them and gives them trample.

I like your deck, but I would like to make some comments. First, I would suggest Simic Manipulator to take control of your opponents pesky creatures that make the game harder for you. I.E. Imposing Sovereign

Next, I really suggest Rashmi, Eternities Crafter. She provides great value netting you an xp counter and helping to get your deck out each turn.

Elusive Krasis I find awesome in Ezuri. I can net an xp counter from him, evolve him a ton, and load him up with counters to swing for unblockable.

That's all I can think of on the spot so please check out my Ezuri edh deck.
