albino_ninja, I like the Elusive Krasis, however as far as Tower Defense goes my reason for using it in the deck is for finishing the game fast after playing Assault Formation. Also it's fairly amusing when I use it with the seemingly random Blighted Agent to suddenly win.

Actually I using Pongify and Rapid Hybridization on my own creatures with makes them big very fast. It basic strategy of this deck conception. Casting those spells on enemy creatures of course makes this deck slower, but also gets rid of big threat like infinite combos (on creatures) etc.
For more hate on tokens or annoying permaments I also have Echoing Truth in sideboard. It's more than Vapor Snag, but it also more flexible and powerful and it's the same CMC slot as counter spells I using which makes it more comfortable to use and more difficult for opponents to predict.
I had Avatar of the Resolute in earlier conception of this deck, extremaly based on +1/+1 counters and trigering Evolve, but now I have not enough Evolve creatures to make it works.
With Boon Satyr game is nearly ended with him on board. Elusive Krasis is slow in compere to him. Zero power at the beggining, no flash ability to cast him eventually instead casting counter spell or something. Of course Elusive Krasis can grow and it's unblockabe, but it's still oriented on late game.
Shambleshark is good. I was thinking about putting him on deck, but finally I took Plaxmanta instead for some extra protection, and it works well.
Zameck Guildmage is the hardest choise. Warriors' Lesson works well in term of drawing cards, but I have a little efect that makes my undying creatures repetable. I must make several tests to decide what to do about him.

Avatar of the Resolute could be quite big in this deck
Zameck Guildmage can take counters off your undying creatures to draw a card and keep them coming back from the graveyard.

Just getting back into magic and found the evolve mechanic on the Elusive Krasis. I tinkered with building a (casual) deck and liked it. So much so that after discovering a bundle of cards I would like to incorporate I thought maybe a commander build? Down at my shop they often play commander, and I have dallied but not really committed. I thought I would try my hand at building an evolve commander, so I ran a search for ideas, and found you deck. It is exactly what I was framing out for my deck.
I wanted to say thank you for a great, fun and AFFORDABLE build; the Ooze Flux and Experiment Kraj made me say "oh my!!", and the Gilder Bairn definitely to be used elsewhere too. In parting, a question, what is the point for Ongoing Investigation and .... the investigate/clues? I would swap them out for Gilder Bairn and Solidarity of Heroes from your maybe column.
Lastly, again thank you for the awesome deck, and a toe into the commander community.

Good day, all. I have a core concept that I'd really like to turn into a competitive Modern deck if its possible.

These are the primary cards:
- Leech Bonder + Paradise Mantle = move counters as often as necessary
- Leech Bonder + Paradise Mantle + Devoted Druid = -1/-1 counters as necessary to keep the board clear
- Leech Bonder + Paradise Mantle + Hardened Scales = Infinite +1/+1 counters
- Leech Bonder + Paradise Mantle + Hardened Scales + Gyre Sage = Infinite green mana
- Leech Bonder + Paradise Mantle + Hardened Scales + Devoted Druid = Infinite -1/-1 counters and green mana
- Leech Bonder + Paradise Mantle + Hardened Scales + Sage of Hours = Infinite turns
(Leech Bonder + Paradise Mantle + Hardened Scales + Fathom Mage will allow infinite draws as well, but I'm not automatically including it due to its higher casting cost and the fact that it would be a bit redundant with the Sage of Hours combo.)
So here's my quandary - how to turn that core of 20 cards into an effective and competitive deck strategy. I started off with the following:
Let's say I go with those - that leaves 12 slots. At the moment, some of the options I'm eyeing hardest are:

For protection/disruption (8):
- Cyclonic Rift
- Rune Snag
- Mana Leak
- Spell Pierce
- Turn Aside
- Swan Song
- Pact of Negation
And then there are the 'X-Factor' cards, cards which could accelerate the combo like Summoner's Pact or give me alternate win conditions, like Helix Pinnacle or Sphinx's Tutelage. At this point I'm mentally dealing with a bit of 'option paralysis', so any and all help in sifting through the possibilities would be more appreciated.

I'm reluctant to take out Dryad Militant because I want to keep the curve very low. Elusive Krasis hasn't been quite fast or impactful enough when it hits the table, but I may need to look more into that. Moving Thalia to the mainboard could be interesting, that might go in for Elvish Visionary. Selfless Spirit typically is only needed against sweepers since I have many other hexproof cards, so I'm not sure if I would sacrifice any mainboard slots for it. I have been toying with adding in some Path to Exiles or Vapor Snags, but then I wouldn't be as comfortable running Thalia... Thanks for the comment and upvote!

Tuskguard Captain: It gives trample plus it can give itself counters.
Vorel of the Hull Clade: Doubles counters. 'nough said.
Gilder Bairn: Also doubles counters and isn't legendary, but you have to untap it to use its ability. there are many ways around this, but still the biggest drawback.
Servant of the Scale: One drop that gives out counters when it dies.
Slitherhead: Scavenge for zero.
Thrummingbird: Proliferate at 2 with evasion.
Nissa, Voice of Zendikar: Use the -2 like it's going out of style.
Bioshift: If someone casts a kill spell, this will save all of those precious counters.
Scavenging Ooze: Eats graveyards.
Scute Mob: The beetles grow ridiculously fast for only one mana.
Fertilid: Counters or you can pull out the rest of your basic lands, reducing the size of your library and making it easier to pull up spells.
Contagion Clasp: Proliferate plus a -1/-1 counter for something you dislike.
Epochrasite: Two drop that keeps coming back with counters.
