Early commander damage is the name of the game.

Discard, dredge and mill yourself to cast Hogaak ASAP. All you need is 5 cards in the graveyard and 2 creatures on the field. Creatures that mill yourself like Stitcher's Supplier and Glowspore Shaman are doubly effective in helping us reach this prerequisite quickly. After playtesting, I've found that I can reliably cast Hogaak on turn 3-4. And since he can evade commander tax, re-casting him after he gets removed is easy. His delve grants a slight upside to discarding cards, so symmetrical discard like Mind Rake and Cunning Lethemancer generates value for yourself. Similarly, since he doesn't rely on lands, symmetrical land destruction like Desolation and Smallpox will usually set your opponents back further than yourself.
