Acorn Harvest

Sorcery

Put two 1/1 green Squirrel creature tokens onto the battlefield.

Flashback—{{1,G}}, Pay 3 life. (You may cast this card from your graveyard for its flashback cost. Then exile it.)

I've been trying to make Acorn Harvest work for ages. It's best in decks that can pitch it, but I just haven't found a home, yet.

You're right about Pit Fight; I honestly didn't realize Confrontation was sorcery. An alternative to consider would be Harvest Pyre or even Skred.

In order to avoid Brainstorm locking yourself, I'd run 9 or 10 of your 18 lands as fetches. That also ensures fixing, as well -- although unfortunately means we miss a lot of turn 1 plays, but that's the price you pay in pauper. But responding to a Delver trigger by Brainstorming to make sure it flips is so satisfying.

One more thing I personally love as perhaps a 2-of is Daze. I LOVE the reaction when you t1 terramorpic and they feel safe to do something, and you fetch and Daze the spell. So good. And, just great for tempo in general.

Memory Lapse is conditionally good or bad, in my experience. It's very often a time-walk, which is great for a tempo deck, but sometimes it's just dead. However, I think other options are worth considering over Counterspell because of the UU -- especially at a 4-of. Rune Snag, Mana Leak, Negate or Essence Scatter are all reasonable in some combination of MB/SB.

Epic Confrontation over Pit Fight. Also: Go to 3x Ponder, 4x Brainstorm to fuel Delver; cut Preordain. It's a great card, but setting up Delver to flip is critically important.

Reclaim is card disadvantage; I would personally get rid of it.

Hooting Mandrills and Werebear are a nonbo. I'd cut one or the other. Some options for alternatives: Acorn Harvest, Nimble Mongoose (a GREAT card)

Consider Memory Lapse as an alternative to Counterspell. Not forcing yourself to need UU makes the fixing much easier.

Finally, I'd cut Branching Bolt for Pyroblast. You might also consider Scattershot Archer for Delver matchups. Killing faeries at instant speed feels great.

Cheers!

Mutagenic Growth & Apostle's Blessing could help you get your life down to 5 quicker, if you actually want to go that route. =D

I love +1/+1 counters decks, and I've used a lot of these cards before, so it's almost like looking down memory lane here, lol.

The only thing I really want to say here is that some Flashback in the deck would be nice. something like Thrill of the Hunt or Travel Preparations would be cool, but maybe also Acorn Harvest, Battle Screech, Folk Medicine, Gaze of Justice, Sylvan Might, etc. etc. You could probably remove 2 and 2 of Scatter the Seeds and Gather the Townsfolk to make room if you wanted (or just drop Scatter altogether).

what needs improving? Speed? Protection against removal?

Vektus thank you for your suggestions. I have seen these cards before and Acorn Harvest was a card I have considered before but unless I have other cards, such as Parallel Lives out at the time to make it worth while, 4 mana for 2 1/1 tokens isn't really worth it. as for the other 3 suggestions, I wanted to avoid the use of Form of the Squirrel for a number of reasons, and the other 2 would benefit my opponent also which is something I am not a fan of doing unless I have good reason to.
