I have 8 cards to bring in against twin already and I feel all ten are more flexible and just hands down better than Squelch and Trickbind. I can understand why people like Squelch and Trickbind in their sideboards.

@danthek84: I don't like Gitaxian Probe that much because of the life loss needed to make it the best. You have enough other options for card draw. Also I don't like the Karn in the SB. Against RG Tron they will be getting Karn out faster anyways, and in that case, your Karn will do nothing.

If their Karn comes in first then mine comes in to exile theirs.
The reason I like probe is that it lets you see your opponent's hand, making it easier to know when to play out your threats or when to leave up a counter.

CornX60 thanks for the suggestions. I had Squelch in the sideboard but I removed it to add Annul and Hurkyl's Recall since affinity isn't the best matchup. Also, any deck that Squelch is super good against, we already have a rather favorable matchup.
Ugin, the Spirit Dragon is in the sideboard since I don't really have room mainboard. Again, the decks that Karn Liberated and Ugin, the Spirit Dragon are good against are generally beaten with Platinum Angel.
I don't understand why so many people dislike Platinum Angel. YOU CAN"T LOSE. lol like yeah, it gets taken out by Path to Exile and Dismember but so does almost everything else. Also, Lightning Greaves makes it a threat only beatable by Liliana of the Veil and sweepers like Damnation or Wrath of God. We also have Pact of Negation, Condescend, and even Repeal to ensure the safety of our angel.

Please help: why 22 lands rather than 23? Should I take out a land for a 3rd Talisman of Dominance?

This is cool, I don't normally pick blue, I stick to green and black myself. But this is a great example of blue control.

@danthek84: I personally think that 22 lands is fine and I like the Talismans a lot. They are perfect fodder for Thirst for Knowledge. They also help you with mana fixing, help you cast Dismember, and helps you get ahead in a game where you do not have Tron yet.

-1 Platinum Angel + 1 Treasure Mage -2 Condescend + 2 Spell Snare + 2 Mana Leak -1 Repeal -1 Whatever you want. These changes will really help the deck flow better. Trust me.

Ummmmm... how bout no?
Platinum Angel is the underrated all-star of the deck. Treasure Mage doesn't need to be a 3-of, especially with Fabricate in the sideboard. We have enough threats and ways of digging. Mono blue tron = playset of Condescend. Period. Spell Snare is good but not great. It doesn't deserve two mainboard slots. Mana Leak is good but again, Condescend and Remand are better alternatives. Repeal is good as a three of.
I appreciate you taking your time to try and help out my deck but I respectfully decline your advice at this time :)

Oh yeah! IzzetFanatic: reason #4 for Crucible of Worlds mainboard. It provides an opportunity to lock the opponent out of the game with 2 Ghost Quarters
RogueArtificer: The Talisman of Dominance make sure that we have blue mana. They can also provide mana advantage if we can't assemble tron. IF I did bring in Spreading Seas I think that's what I would drop though.

Nice deck. I personally would drop the angels, but I understand their reason for being in the deck. Also, mainboarding some kind of mass removal would be good. Ugin, the Spirit Dragon and Karn Liberated are both monsters in their own right. Turn 3 Karn is pretty impossible for most people to recover from. Squelch in the side might also be good for fetches.

I have considered Kozilek, Butcher of Truth but it adds clunkiness with Treasure Mage, Thirst for Knowledge and Academy Ruins. Are there any more powerful artifact creatures you can think of that would do well in this deck?
October 29, 2015
3:15 p.m.
Artifact creatures? Scuttling Doom Engine and Phyrexian Juggernaut are the best you will find, short of Wurmcoil Engine, and I don't find that either will close out games faster than Platinum Angel. The best creature I can think of for this deck would be Artisan of Kozilek as he can fetch Platinum Angel back from the yard, giving him instant impact on the board state when played, which is what all eldrazi other than Emrakul, the Aeons Torn lack.
As for fetching him... That's your call. Mono u tron can't run Ancient Stirrings, so it can't fetch eldrazi like R/G tron can. Unless you want to add a singleton Mycosynth Lattice to the deck, but that also feels clunky.
This all said, you already have a Mindslaver to fetch with Treasure Mage to assist in closing out games, and this secondary wincon would be most necessary against a deck which already has artifact hate. A deck against which being an eldrazi and NOT an artifact might just be a good thing. Your call.

If you're looking for powerful artifact creatures... he costs 12, but there's always my good friend Blightsteel Colossus...

DuTogira saj0219 do you like the change of -1 Talisman of Dominance, +1 Lightning Greaves in the main?
Also, what would you take out for a Blightsteel Colossus or Platinum Emperion?
October 30, 2015
3:12 p.m.
For the Lightning Greaves change I like it. I would not bother adding in Platinum Emperion as he is just a slightly more durable, but less useful version of Platinum Angel. Blightsteel Colossus though may be worth adding, and I would replace 1xPlatinum Angel with the colossus.

The creatures you want to pull out with this deck are more suited to a Master Transmuter style deck, if that sounds interesting to you. Platinum Angel is in my Master Transmuter for the same reason, and I can go for either a Time Sieve loop or a Mindslaver loop, but my favorite 1v1 tactic is fish out Blightsteel and stick him. Instant scoop for the other side of the table. It's THE ONLY creature that actually swings for lethal damage by himself, independent of anything else, and he eats indestructible chump blockers. 1 Blue mana, return a 0 cost artifact to my hand, and put a blightsteel into play? Uncounterable? Mana open for one or more counters? I'll take that deal.

@danthek84: the deck looks pretty good. Here is my version that I am loving right now. If you hate people... Play this deck.. Feel free to comment on my wall whenever if you have questions. By the way I dont think that you need Crucible of Worlds or the Lightning Greaves.
The Crucible is I feel a waste of mana because rarely are they going to have LD effects mainboard. And even after SB I don't think that it is very good because I would rather have a counter spell. I also don't think that you need 2 Platinum Angel. Only 1. Platinum Angel is a rarely a wincon and is more protection in scenarios where you are about to die. Thats it for now. IzzetFanatic signing off.

I think this is an interesting version of blue Tron. I kind of like having access to multiple Platinum Angel, as getting one out early allows you to treat Pact of Negation as a straight-up 0 mana hard counter with zero drawback. Spreading Seas in the sideboard could be useful, as it's something to use vs other Tron decks and is just a good card in general. One other card I love adding to blue sideboards is Bribery for stealing opposing Emrakuls and Ionas. That card is a blast.
Personally, I wouldn't bother with the Emperion, Blightsteel, or Inkwell. Your threats seem good enough. Maybe consider trying Steel Hellkite? Does nothing til it attacks, but you have plenty of counterspells to protect him.

FourtwentyAM: the problem I have with Master Transmuter is that it 100% changes the deck. I don't feel like I could play it in this tron build because I don't have enough artifacts.
IzzetFanatic: I have seen your build and I do like it. However, this build is better (my own personal opinion) for the current modern meta. Modern is fast, whether it's combo decks or aggro/burn/zoo/affinity/etc. This deck gets Platinum Angel out and protects it. Hence the 2 Pact of Negation and solo copy of Lightning Greaves. The Crucible of Worlds is main boarded for 3 reasons. 1 - many decks run mainboard Ghost Quarter or Tectonic Edge for land destruction. 2 - Thirst for Knowledge works extremely well with it: you dumb 2 lands so you can keep your hand full of action while still being able to play the lands from the grave. 3 - with 2 copies of Platinum Angel and ways to keep it alive, aggro decks are easier to beat; this means that we can afford to have Oblivion Stone in the sideboard rather than the main.
RogueArtificer: Thanks for the input. I have thought about Spreading Seas and I do believe it would be good IF I went with Inkwell Leviathan. Any suggestions on what I would take out? Besides Lightning Greaves.
Dragaan: Thanks for the input. I'm still testing with Blightsteel Colossus and those fatties but I'll definitely add Steel Hellkite to the list.
Thank you all for your suggestions. Support in the form of upvotes would be greatly appreciated as well :)

The problem with Platinum Angel is that, even though she stops you from losing the game, she does very little to actually help you win it. Compared to something like Emrakul, the Aeons Torn, she simply isn't a pressing threat for the opponent as she can be chump blocked, killed by certain un-counterable mass removal spells, etc.
Not trying to be rude but... This seems like a (slightly) less threatening version of an already HIGHLY popularized deck archetype.
There is nothing wrong with you preferring the deck the way it is but... I wouldn't expect the tappedout community to go crazy over this deck, nor for them to offer all that many suggestions on how to improve an already optimized list which you have modified to better fit your playstyle.

Platinum Angel is a 4/4 flier. That's doing something to help you win. Emrakul, the Aeons Torn is a huge threat but it does cost 15 mana. This deck is more of a control build. RG Tron is an all or nothing combo deck that is 100% about assembling the Tron lands. This deck is less dependent on the Tron lands using counter magic and card advantage to slowly take over the game. With the printing of Crumble to Dust it allows decks to combat against Tron way better than they could with Sowing Salt due to the mana cost. Also, this deck is a budget option compared to RG Tron.
Never did I say that I "expect the tapped out community to go crazy over this deck." I would hope that people who have similar interests to me will take the time to make reasonable suggestions in order for me to better the deck. So thanks for wasting my time DuTogira and using this site (that is meant to help others) to insult the product of my time and effort. Have a nice day :)

Never did I intend to insult this deck, nor you. If I caused offense, I am sorry.
I never meant to suggest that you switch to R/G tron. The "popularized deck archetype" which I was referring to was mono-u tron.
I also never intended to say that you HAVE to run Emrakul, the Aeons Torn. My advice was to try to incorporate some other win-condition into the deck which will be a larger threat and which can close out games faster than Platinum Angel. Maybe something like Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger which is easier to cast than the Flying Spaghetti Monster.
Beyond that, anything else I could say would just be a reiteration of my previous post. Again I am sorry if I caused offense. My only goal was to be realistic with you.

@danthek84: ever thought about using Squelch or Trickbind? They are great against the Twin matchup. I prefer Trickbind for multiple reasons. First, it is good against more decks. (Twin, Affinity, Grishoalbrand). Second it can't be countered. Third they cant activate it again that turn. Even though it doesn't let you draw a card, it is more flexible.
