Sideboard

Second week into the game (having a surprisingly very good time after being scared away from other TCG learning experiences), first time trying to build a playable owl tribal deck, looking for advice and improvements.

Synergies at the moment that I can see:

  1. Isochron Scepter + Dramatic Reversal combo going with Fable of Wolf and Owl. Scepter and Reveal should also combo with Ringwarden Owl and/or Sky Theater Strix to make them chunky. Conclave Guildmage to give them trample if dealing with an opponent with flying or reach.

  2. Rimefeather Owl + all my snow lands. Burgeoning and Dryad of the Ilysian Grove to help me get those snow lands out. I doubt that I will see an Avalanche in current times in the Commander format.

  3. Soulcatchers' Aerie + Ashnod's Altar and/or Seaside Haven to sac birds no longer needed or bird tokens to power up all birds. Said tokens would ideally come from Fable of Wolf and Owl and Murmuration, but Beck / Call, Jotun Owl Keeper, and Dovescape. Pride of the Clouds is also an option on my sideboard/considering list.

Other Considerations:

  • My plan with Door of Destinies was to combo it with Derevi, Empyrial Tactician being able to bypass the commander tax, but I've just been told that it wouldn't work like that. I could still keep Door, because I still have plenty of lower cost Birds to use it with.

  • Don't know what exactly isn't as valuable as any other card, so I'm having trouble deciding what to cut if I want to add anything else

I would appreciate all feedback. This is a revised version of an owl tribal deck that I made by myself. The group that I am currently learning the game from/with has told me "It's great that you took the initiative to build a deck yourself and have fun, but here are some guidelines and recommendations to make sure you have fun playing it as well." And so this v2 is now a thing.
