Dauthi Tribal

Shadow is very nostalgic for me. My very first deck build was from Tempest and showcased creatures like the ever evasive Dauthi Slayer and Dauthi Ghoul. Black was all about your opponents not being able to block back then.

What better way to honor the past than to build a Mono Black cEDH Shadow tribal deck that consistently kills your opponent in 1v1 between turn 3 and 5 every time.

1v1 Game Play

Based on card draw and ramp, cast a Shadow creature on turn 1 or 2. From there, tutor and mana ramp into a One-Shot kill with Hatred.

Group Play

In group play, this is where you might rely on your Commander, Sidisi, Undead Vizier. Yes, you can use the "Exploit" trigger on the Commander, sending it back to the Command Zone for future use. With multiple opponents you will find yourself wanting cards like Vorpal Sword or Phage the Untouchable, which still allow the deck to focus on the One-Shot kill as a recurring theme.

Another great strategy would be to consider Bitterblossom and Contamination as a Combo to lock down the table while you work things out in your favor.

Blockers

Obviously, this section could be filled with stronger high-synergy cards, making the deck that much more lethal. Instead, I chose to go with a "Regenerate" mechanic for two reasons. One reason is the very simple desire to keep the deck's CMC down as much as possible. And secondly, I am a fan of deck themes. Since the Dauthi tribe goes all the way back to Tempest in 1997, what better way to keep to this theme than by sticking with cards like Drudge Skeletons and Uncle Istvan, which saw their first release in that era.

Final Note

This is my favorite build. Sadly, it doesn't see much play because my play group refuses to go up against it.

THE END.
