Dec 20, updated 12 cards but lost again. Thomas took me out first, after dominating with Tevesh Szat, Doom of Fools and Lagomos, Hand of Hatred. He had a huge Mob Rule, borrowing a Korvold, Fae-Cursed King. Thomas reminded me that it was my suggestion to add Mob Rule to the deck. He tutored in each of about four turn cycles with Lagomos, Hand of Hatred before sacrificing Juri, Master of the Revue to kill me--28 damage was just a point or two over my life total.

Victor, Valgavoth's Seneschal finally won in its fourth game, its second game with 12 cards updated. We all removed Kalamax, the Stormsire's permanents in a two-hour game. I had Extinguish All Hope and several turns later, Life's Finale targeting Will, on Sovereign Okinec Ahau, was enough for him to concede. Starfield of Nyx returned a ton of enchantments. I stocked my graveyard by drawing 17 with an early Necropotence in response to Ben targeting it with removal. Elspeth Conquers Death made multiple appearances and got an Auramancer to recur the Starfield of Nyx very late game. Legion Loyalty and moreso, Dictate of Erebos, made a huge contribution, thanks also to the Fanatical Devotion. I attacked with my enchantments for the Starfield of Nyx win at 5 life.

OK here we go lol

Creature cuts: Archon of Sun's Grace, Composer of Spring, Courser of Kruphix, Doomwake Giant, Dryad of the Ilysian Grove, Nessian Wanderer, Nyx Weaver

Artifact cuts: Mesmeric Orb, Whip of Erebos

Enchantment cuts: Battle for Bretagard, Boon of the Spirit Realm, Cast Out, Exploration, Familiar Ground

Sorcery cuts: Extinguish All Hope, Kodama's Reach, Rampant Growth, Skyshroud Claim

Instant cuts: None! Add things like Veil of Summer & Silence, though

I'd recommend that you replace all of those lands ramp spells that cost more than 2 with more mana rocks instead! Your guild signets (Selesnya Signet, Orzhov Signet & Golgari Signet) & talismans (Talisman of Hierarchy, Talisman of Resilience & Talisman of Unity) are all better options since this isn't a Landfall deck.

Some thoughts:

  • 20 lands is a very low number. 20-land decks are typically happy being stuck on 1-land for a few turns, and don’t have any expectation to hit 3-lands on-curve. Conversely, your deck is filled with high mana cards and a requirement to get lands in play on-curve. Imo you need at least 24 lands.

  • Even with a higher land count, your curve just looks too high. Stuff like Extinguish All Hope is just too unrealistic to expect to cast.

  • I think you have too many high-mana enchants you’re expecting to be able to cheat-into-play from the graveyard, but nowhere-near enough ways to actually pitch these cards into the grave. As a reference, typical Esper-Reanimator decks have only 5ish worthwhile reanimation targets, 6ish cards to actually reanimate, and 10+ cards that let them pitch things into the grave (it’s worth adding those pitch cards are things like Faithful Mending and Tainted Indulgence which also help dig deeper into the deck). I think your current ratios and general lack of deck-digging ability is going to make the deck really clumsy.

  • imo stuff like Dash Hopes isn’t useful… the opponent will always choose the option you don’t want them to. You’re not presenting any immediate threat to their life total so they probably just take-5 and continue to beat you down with whatever they cast.

Solid build!

No love for Parallax Tide?

Estrid's Invocation solid swiss army knife clone effect

Extinguish All Hope one sided removal is always nice but this might be 1 colorless too much.

Dance of the Manse reanimation would be useful tech for the enchantment strategy.

Resurgent Belief would be Replenish #2

Aura Thief!!

My least favorite cards in the deck:

Tales of Master Seshiro  Flip (low impact for ) Temple of the False God (not great at ramping and only gives colorless) Thoughtrender Lamia (this one is okay, but discard is not necessarily the most potent interaction) Marauding Blight-Priest

My favorite cards: Bastion of Remembrance The Meathook Massacre Extinguish All Hope Blightcaster Setessan Champion Doomwake Giant Dryad of the Ilysian Grove

I was looking thing over again and you might want a board wipe or two and maybe upgrade the removal options.

Soul Shatter and Eat to Extinction are solid options. Soul Shatter hits everyone's biggest and sometimes you want to exile something more than destroying a creature. I'd swap Murder and Naturalize for these two.

For board wipes my recommendation is Extinguish All Hope and Necrotic Hex I'm not sure what I'd swap out for these though.

I play Aphemia in my 99 in my Ramses Overdark EDH deck. I've been really impressed with the incremental value she can create over the course of the game.

One particular synergy I liked with her was using enchantments on the opponent's creatures, then destroying them for additional benefits.

Minion's Return , Shade's Form , Unholy Indenture , and Unhallowed Pact all fit into this category.

Something like Casting of Bones could allow you to refuel your hand and potentially put two enchantments into the graveyard.

Yoke of the Damned is good along the same lines. It will pretty consistently kill the creature within one turn cycle, especially if you have some spare zombies and a political ally. Seal of Doom is more convenient, but is more expensive and hits less creatures.

Nighthowler is excellent for your deck. It has been one of my main win conditions. It's even better when you play it on Aphemia since she has evasion and can one-shot someone easily with the Nighthowler and Commander Damage.

I would include a few more ways to kill creatures, including spot removal and board wipes. Kindred Dominance seems great for you. Extinguish All Hope conveniently spares your commander and many of your creatures.
