Brindle Shoat

Creature — Boar

When Brindle Shoat dies, create a 3/3 green Boar creature token. (Is put into the graveyard from the battlefield.)

Welcome to big board state club! (I used to run G/W populate back in the day).

Disclaimer: not sure what your budget is for recommendations, so I'm going to go by what I see here (Dockside, Smothering Tithe, Parallel Lives level of cost for individual recommendations).

I think Ghired, Conclave Exile would make a better commander here than Palladia-Mors, unless you're tied to the latter for sentimentality/flavor/etc.

Next, land base. The single best thing I did for my Esper deck was upgrading my land base. You don't have to go super hard here to see results, but I would put together a list like: 1x Cabaretti Courtyard 1x Command Tower 1x Jungle Shrine 1x Sungrass Prairie 1x Rockfall Vale 1x Branchloft Pathway  Flip 1x Needleverge Pathway  Flip 1x Rogue's Passage 1x Kessig Wolf Run 1x Gavony Township. If you like this route, there are even more cheaper dual lands you can add in like the Temple of Triumph and friends.

There are a few cuts or substitutions that I think the main deck could make really easily:

Ultramarines Honour Guard -> Caller of the Pack. If Ghired attacks with a creature that has Myriad, he can populate the token that Myriad creates, but the Populated token forgets about the exile clause. Thus, you can end up with a theoretically infinite horde of creatures. It's fantastic. :D

Going off that last bit... Wayfaring Temple -> Treasure. Basically a great card in commander anyway, here it's a free win if you manage to clone it.

Growing Ranks is an easy cut. It's way too slow for EDH (compare it to Parallel Lives...) Could replace it with a Talisman of Conviction or friends to help you ramp faster.

I would replace Momentous Fall with Teferi's Protection or Akroma's Will or Grand Crescendo - some extra source of board wipe dodging. I don't think your creatures are really big enough to warrant a momentous fall.

I would also replace Druid's Deliverance with one of the aforementioned board wipe dodges. There are also some cheaper options like Your Temple is Under Attack, Unbreakable Formation, Make a Stand. Reasoning being: you should have enough board state to block things that want to hurt you, as long as you keep your board alive.

As far as making tokens sooner: well, if you want to do that, you're going to have to run some cheaper creatures.... or ramp faster. I'd probably opt for ramping faster, TBH, since your creatures are really cool. If you add the entire Gruul Signet and friends, along with the Talismans I mentioned earlier, that should get you to the minimum ramp package in tricolor EDH to make sure you can play quickly.

Naya Charm -> Artifact Mutation can help make some earlier tokens.

Brindle Shoat and Call of the Conclave are some decent options for turn 3 tokens you might consider, as well. But adding those would also require cutting other stuff.... horrible choice I don't envy you : P

Sorry for the wall of text...Hope that helps, and happy building!

Stealth_Meister I think the Vintage Masters Brindle Shoat might count. I'm not sure about online-only sets.

I've looked at this deck a few times now. It looks pretty solid. +1. My only real suggestion is to put something like Vines of Vastwood and Tragic Slip in the sideboard. Oh and +1 land and -1 Bloodthrone Vampire maybe?

As for ideas to lower the curve, there's not a lot to shave off, lol. But, perhaps lose the other Bloodthrone Vampire (because it's bonus is not permanent, and I feel you need more "sack-ables") and the Plagued Rusalka along with two Brindle Shoats in favor of a full playset of Festering Mummy?

I might favor the Nest Invader over the Shoat because the Spawn/Scion has multiple uses. Also, using Blisterpod instead of the Invader could lower your curve.

I have worked on trying to perfect a list here - bg sac value pauper. I think that Brindle Shoat and loam dryad are the key cards. I think your list can use a couple of lands and a better Raise Dead effect and more card draw.

I would go - 4 raise dead and -1 pulse (too expensive) + 1 land, + 3 Winding Way and + 1 Death Denied .

Two creature-based token makers that strike me as well-suited for commander are Kazuul, Tyrant of the Cliffs and Nacatl War-Pride . Kazuul can either deter your opponents from attacking or give you tokens to block with; any that survive can be sac fodder for Thromak once you're ready to power him out. That the tokens are 3/3 seems relevant as well. War-Pride can give you a very wide attack, and since the tokens aren't exiled until end of turn, they can be devoured second main phase for a giant hellion. While looking at it tonight, I realized that giving extra combat steps with Aggravated Assault should cause each token to make tokens themselves. Further investigation revealed that the tokens would require haste to attack on any additional combat, but that's already worked into the deck anyway. Could be something to try? Sadly, I haven't gotten many games in with my deck, and don't think I've ever gotten to play either card, but they sound awesome to me in theory.

I also really like creatures that replace themselves when they die. Mitotic Slime is particularly awesome at this, as each time it dies it splits (after all, I don't care so much about the decreased p/t, but the increased creature count. More bodies to feed the beast!). I also run Blisterpod (gives an eldrazi token which can sac for mana), Brindle Shoat (gets bigger body upon death), Thragtusk (mm, taste the value!), Strangleroot Geist (comes back so long as it hasn't got a counter), and Wurmcoil Engine (not exactly a budget suggestion, but gives two bodies upon death). If you should go with a goblin subtheme, Mogg War Marshal and Goblin Marshal are possibilities, as well as Tuktuk the Explorer .

Thanks man! I like a lot of those suggestions; I'm adding Soulshriek and Ghastly Demise for more graveyard oriented interaction, so I wont be using the delve creatures probably. Like It of the Horrid Swarm, they're synergistic and can come out quicker but aren't really the goal of the deck, it can pretty reliably succeed with the smaller dudes. Rotting Rats was in an earlier build of the deck and I really liked it, but I swapped it for Brindle Shoat. I'd like to add it back but I'm not sure what to remove, i think Nest Invader and the pig do a slightly better job. I'm glad you liked the deck!

Chainer's Edict, like Brindle Shoat, is sort of cheating because it was printed at common in vintage masters, but would be pauper legal on mtgo. I had considered both Golgari Rotwurm and It of the Horrid Swarm as finishers for the deck, but as it has evolved the deck tries to go off long before it can hit a drop that high. Protecting my ability to get the explosive turn four or five has been more important than a high-drop finisher. Thanks for looking at the deck!
