Golgari Elves (Commander/EDH)

Deck Help forum

Okay so I'm new to deckbuilding, especially for EDH so I'm just wondering if anyone has any useful/practical suggestions for this deck. I thought Abomination of Llanowar was a cool card, so I wanted to build around that concept of getting a lot of elves onto the field and my graveyard to really boost its power and toughness.

One thing I'll mention is that, with the exception of cards that are already present in the deck, I don't want to spend more then $3-5 on a single card. So keeping all of this in mind, any suggestions?

Commander: - Abomination of Llanowar

Planeswalkers: - Freyalise, Llanowar's Fury - Tyvar Kell

Creatures: - Elvish Eulogist - Elvish Archdruid - Imperious Perfect - Lys Alana Huntmaster - Immaculate Magistrate - Marwyn, the Nurturer - Elvish Visionary - Shaman of the Pack - Lathril, Blade of the Elves - Dwynen, Gilt-Leaf Daen - Beast Whisperer - Timberwatch Elf - Elvish Mystic - Canopy Tactician - Poison-Tip Archer - Skemfar Avenger - Skemfar Shadowsage - Wolverine Riders - Ruthless Winnower - Wellwisher - Golgari Findbroker - Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord - Rhys the Exiled - Nightshade Harvester - Gilt-Leaf Winnower - Elvish Doomsayer - Storrev, Devkarin Lich - Nadier's Nightblade - Fyndhorn Elves - Llanowar Elves

Instants: - Putrefy - Golgari Charm - Murder - Village Rites - Grisly Salvage - Wrap in Vigor - Cast Down - Malakir Rebirth  Flip - Ghastly Demise - Infuse with Vitality

Sorcery: - Cultivate - Rampant Growth - Eyeblight Massacre - Shamanic Revelation - Casualties of War - Dig Up - Victimize - Sign in Blood - Spark Harvest - Diabolic Tutor - Deadly Brew - Bone Shards - Elvish Promenade

Artifacts: - Sol Ring - Arcane Signet - Commander's Sphere

Enchantments: - Elderfang Venom - Moldervine Reclamation - Prowess of the Fair

Lands: - Evolving Wilds - Command Tower - Path of Ancestry - Llanowar Wastes - Jungle Hollow - Skemfar Elderhall - Golgari Guildgate - Tainted Wood - Necroblossom Snarl - Myriad Landscape - Foul Orchard - Darkmoss Bridge - Forest x13 - Swamp x13

Elves of Deep Shadow is kind of like a Llanowar Elves that taps for , so it might be good to include. I also like Essence Warden for the life gain and Wood Elves for the ramp. Pendelhaven and Pendelhaven Elder might be useful as well.

You are currently using a deckbuilding site. Putting it in a list and sharing that asking for comments will probably generate much more engagement because it will be legible for us helpful but lazy types.

Maybe you can get some inspiration with my golgari elves deck. It‘s fast af and if not stopped early enough, it will overrun. Often a boardwipe is not enough, because it can rebuild fast.

At first glance Beastmaster Ascension, Kindred Summons, Return of the Wildspeaker, Elvish Warmaster and Realmwalker could be some nice additions in your deck.

End-Raze Forerunners as a budget Craterhoof finisher.

You have 38 lands (+1MDFC), thereof 8 that come into play tapped + 1 come into play tapped if the conditions aren’t met (and the mdfc). That are way to high numbers, the tapped and the total. I would cut up to 4-5 tapped lands and swap them for spells.

In addition, the coloured mana is mostly green… so swapping 3 Swamps for forests could smooth out your mana-base.

Gidgetimer my bad, so I should add the deck in the deckbuilder then link to it here in the future?

Housegheist so from your deck, what aspect of it actually makes it that powerful? Like, you said boardwipes don't tend to deal with it for long enough for it to matter, so how does it bounce back that quickly?

And also, I like a lot of the cards you mentioned there. Do you have suggestions for which cards from my list I should swap out with them?

I hear you about the lands that come in tapped, that's fair. Do you think I have enough other cards that'll produce mana to cover that? Or would it even be a hindrance?

My deck can rework pretty well. Many cheap spells and a lot of ramp (especially in form of elven-dorks). A good starting hand and Card-Draw is essential to not run out of gas. Current mana-value is 3.4, but i want to trim it to nearly 3.0 in the future, so it will become even more competitive.

Elves want wo make fast mana, fload the board, pump and attack (like with the forerunners or Ezuri, Renegade Leader. Tapped-Lands will hinder that. Maybe you should upload it and examine where other potential cutting can be found. With your budget (max 5 bucks per card) a fast competitive elves deck should be absolutely possible.
