Do you want you enemies all secretly and precisely removed? Are you a member of House Dimir (don't worry, I won't tell)? Do you enjoy playing imposter in Among Us? Do you want to "paint the earth red"(presumably with your enemy's blood)? Than have I got a deck for you!

Hello there! Welcome to another installment of The Tribal Wars (I still feel like there could be a better name, suggestions perhaps). This series of decks aims to create a flavorful (semi)functional budget tribal EDH deck for every creature type in Magic that has enough cards to warrant one. Typically the decks end up being built around a certain theme commonly found within the tribe.

Nearly every single assassin kills things. Some exile, some just straight up murder creatures, some have strange requirements to do so, but they all fulfill that role. And so that's what this deck is about. We fulfill the requirements to kill our opponents stuff, kill their stuff, and profit.

There is one actual Assassin Tribal card in Scarblade Elite. It does the thing we want well I suppose, and it makes use of our dead cards to make more things dead, which is great.

We had a couple of options for our commander. Kelsien, the Plague, Queen Marchesa, and Thraximundar all give us several colors to work with. Notably, they all have black, which is necessary for an assassin deck, seeing as the vast majority of assassins are black. Unfortunately, they all also have red, and in terms of playable assassins, red... doesn't have much. And while Kelsien and Marchesa are both awesome, and you could easily build an Assassin deck with them at the helm, I determined that having access to blue and all the flavorful Dimir stuff eked it out a bit, so Thraximundar is leading this deck. There really isn't any specific synergy with their abilities, but they do give us the ability to get around what creatures we can't kill with our other assassins.
As noted above, the main strategy is to kill things and reap the benefits. We have a touch of other various plans contained in this deck. There's a smidge of graveyard interaction with cards like Lazav, the Multifarious and a surveil subtheme to reinforce the flavor of the deck. There's also a few cards that will ping creatures or tap them to set them up for assassination,
We have several "employers", as I fondly call them, in the deck. These are the payoffs for murdering all of everything our opponents have. Quite honestly, these are also our best attempts at actually winning the game.

And that's all, folks! As always, thanks for taking time to read the primer or just look at the decklists. Suggestions are very welcome and appreciated, and I'd love to see anyone else's weird tribal decks. The new Sengir looks quite fun and fits right in with the rest of our employers. And looking at the wincons, one of them is some weird drake? That doesn't seem nearly as flavorful or good as Sengir, so that's out. Out: Scavenger Drake In: Sengir, the Dark Baron
