We finally got our first legendary phoenix. And I'm burning for this! So look at all the Fawkes I play!

enter image description here The deck is, leaving aside its heavy focus on phoenixes, leaning heavily into using all resources available to it. Lifepoints? We pay them! Library? We mill it! Cards in hand? Discard go brrr! Creatures? Let's go sac'em! When your whole juice is dying so you can be reborn, everything is a resource.

Skyfire Phoenix is a crap card from the Madness-precon. Here though, Syrix, Carrier of the Flame rules, and thus Skyfire is the MVP (most valuable phoenix). It will come back at Syrix's side each and every time we cast him, so it'll be easily recurrable sac fodder that then again enables both of Sy's triggered abilities. Additional abilities triggering off of discarding, sacing and ungraving cards play into this to form a nearlyperfect circle of life and death.

Sy is only an MV4 commander, but recasting him from the graveyard multiple times is central for the deck, so I added many MV2 mana rocks. This way, I'll be able to cast him on turn 3 more often than not, so that my engine can start pumping as early as possible. Thermopod and Skirge Familiar are great ramp cards that support the strategy.

Nifty tricks so far:

With Phyrexian Reclamation or Tortured Existence, any creature can let Sy trigger each turn.

Aurora Phoenix and Throes of Chaos for quite a few cascade triggers, as Throes allows Aurora to return to hand. This is obviously very mana intensive, but it's a nice little engine.

To be continued...

Hypothetically, the deck has a combo kill:

Ashnod's Altar/Thermopod + Syrix, Carrier of the Flame + Skyfire Phoenix: Sacrifice Sy to get or , then sacrifice Skyfire to trigger Sy, so you can cast him from the grave (You'll get the mana for saccing Skyfire after Syrix came back). Syrix comes back and brings with him Skyfire. You'll need to put mana into this, so it's not infinite...yet. Add in Skirge Familiar and Grim Haruspex, and this is only limited by your deck size. With Fuming Effigy, Judith, the Scourge Diva, or any other effect like this, the resulting damage will be massive.

Syrix is a weirdly slow-burny deck for a MV4 rakdos commander with haste, pinging small points of damage one after another, but it's very flavourful. Any input to have the phoenixian ash turn into diamonds is hugely appreciated. Thanks for your time!
