Legendary Creature — Phoenix
Flying, haste
At the beginning of each end step, if a creature card left your graveyard this turn, target Phoenix you control deals damage equal to its power to any target (creature, player or planeswalker).
Whenever another Phoenix you control dies, you may cast this from your graveyard. (Is put into the graveyard from the battlefield, tokens are put into the graveyard before they cease to exist.)

Rolling slow currently, I guess. I love my phoenix deck around Syrix, Carrier of the Flame, but sometimes it's so hard for the deck to finish games. What I'll do is I'll create a phoenix with partner that would need a black partner to replace Sy.

Snakes has to be the answer. If you want a story, read the description on My snake deck (that title took me two weeks...).
Besides that, most of my decks are tribal. I have a multitude of 60-card tribal decks of the most obscure kinds. From cats to minotaurs over turtles, bats, crocodiles to satyrs, knights and warriors I have a massive pool of those. And even many of my EDH-decks are tribal. I have a Syrix, Carrier of the Flame phoenix tribal, I recently built Magda, Brazen Outlaw, I have a RGWU giant deck...and I recently starting building Kibo, Uktabi Prince. And I'm sure I forgot a lot here.
So, one could say I like tribal.

Might I suggest Syrix, Carrier of the Flame? It's a super-weird commander that simply durdles turns away, but neatly combines aristocrat-, discard- and die/leave grave strategies. And nobody sees coming how ridonkulous Skyfire Phoenix is in there. Oh, and infect is totally doable. Just put Glistening Oil or anyof the other infect-granting effects on Sy or one of yourpingers. In case you're interested, there's a Syrix list on my profile. The list hasb't been updated for a little while, but you get the basic ideas.

I love that we got a legendary phoenix in Syrix, Carrier of the Flame. Probably far from cEDH playable, but a great casual commander to try and make work. With Hatred and Fling + combat you should be able to win the game in a single turn, and with Basilisk Collar, it's a lot of value even to just trigger a Bloodghast in your graveyard.

Ognis, the Dragon's Lash is the first time we had a cmdr who cares about haste. So that's cool.
Rumor Gatherer is good card draw in white. I'm hyped to see card draw in white.
Glittering Stockpile is pretty unique we haven't seen a mana rock that turns into a ritual later.
Luxior, Giada's Gift is probably the most unique card from this main set.
Angel of Suffering is pretty unique as well. There's only a few cards I can think of that are a lil like this. Platinum Angel and Platinum Emperion. Pairing Angel of Suffering with Wheel of Sun and Moon creates the dream sceneiro for Syr Konrad, the Grim.
Leaving the main set and moving to the cmdr set
Tivit, Seller of Secrets is the first time we got a cmdr that cares about voting and that's awesome.
The Beamtown Bullies seems like a legit cmdr that does something like we've never seen before and make you want to put cards in your deck that you wouldn't want in any other deck. Cards like Eater of Days lol
Mari, the Killing Quill is the first cmdr that cares about assassins. That's freaking cool
Syrix, Carrier of the Flame is clearly made for Phoenix tribes and its sweet
Bennie Bracks, Zoologist more sweet mono white card draw. Yes more cards like this please.
Smuggler's Share same as above but also ramp. Soo good.
Resourceful Defense wins the cmdr set for the most unique card from this set. We've never had a card printed that can move counters of any kind around at instant speed and stick around to do it again whenever you want. So good so Broken and so unique.
And to finish this off. More white card draw.

Working with Syrix, Carrier of the Flame?
Champion of Stray Souls has something similar going, although a lot more expensive. I'm also trying to include a little dredge to get creature cards out of the graveyard. Gravewaker is bullshit-expensive to activate, but is another possibility. Another useful card might be Undead Gladiator.

Assuming that you are casting it from the graveyard using its ability, yes. Casting Syrix, Carrier of the Flame from the graveyard is part of the resolution of the triggered ability. Therefore it gets around timing restrictions.
