Caldera Hellion

Creature — Hellion

Devour 1 (As this enters the battlefield, you may sacrifice any number of creatures. This creature enters the battlefield with that many +1/+1 counters on it.)

When Caldera Hellion enters the battlefield, it deals 3 damage to each creature.

Have you considered Mayhem Devil? I think this card would be a big boon for your deck.

Also, if you're looking for sacrifice engines that are creatures, creatures with Devour are a great way to build big creatures. These include, but are not limited to, Caldera Hellion, Feaster of Fools, Preyseizer Dragon, and Thunder-Thrash Elder.

Also, since you have Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth, I think you can get away with removing a few Swamps to add in more lands you sacrifice for lands. These include, but are not limited to, Evolving Wilds, Fabled Passage, Jund Panorama and Maestros Theater.

If you choose to go this route, creatures with landfall would benefit from this. They include, but are not limited to, Bloodghast, Moraug, Fury of Akoum, Nesting Dragon, and Toggo, Goblin Weaponsmith.

I hope this helps. Thank you for reading me out Happy Hunting!

This deck is simply amazing. Great list, and Anax as the commander really surprised me. Very well done!

The few cards I'm not absolutely sold on are Dragon Fodder and its more expensive versions, but I have no fitting idea on what to replace them with.

Some cards you could still consider are those:

Warstorm Surge is a second copy of Terror of the Peaks. Caldera Hellion is a wipe that lets you sacrifice your board and leaves you with a ginormous beatstick. Ryusei, the Falling Star is a fine attacker that also can wipe if you need it. I realize Thermopod is perfect for the list, but Treasonous Ogre would be another great ramp card. I think you'd really want Anger in here, and Introduction to Annihilation is a great way for red decks to deal with Planeswalker. Finally, how about Shifting Shadow for the lols?

Only one creature because the card doesn't say "sacrifice any number of creatures."

Because the card must be tapped to be activated it can't be repeated multiple times a turn like Bloodthrone Vampire

Because the card says "sacrifice a creature" you cannot sacrifice multiple creatures, unlike something with devour ( Caldera Hellion )

SynergyBuild, thanks again for all your suggestions.

I'll test some of those changes the next time I play with this deck (can't use Orcish Lumberjack yet because I don't have it).

My point about Caldera Hellion is that, even though it costs more than the sweepers you've mentioned, it is a creature, and it can be tutored with green tutors (e.g. Chord of Calling and Worldly Tutor, which I'll use in this deck when possible), so I can search for a sweeper in some situations. I don't know if this versatility is enough to justify its inclusion (maybe isn't), but I want to test it before changing it.

Kavu Lair (I hate giving opponents cards), Wood Elves (love that you can use the forest immediately, and doesn't die as easily, but 1 mana is just better in my opinion), Sakura-Tribe Elder (for similar reasons!), Caldera Hellion (Useful, but 5 mana is a lot for a sweeper in comparison to Rolling Earthquake, Electrickery, Pyroclasm, or Sweltering Suns) would be my drops for the dorks.

Pretty cool. You might like Caldera Hellion and Volcanic Fallout. Also, Grothama, All-Devouring seems fun here.

"Never forget: the lightning starts at the ground."

One quick not: Caldera Hellion is a jund card, not a grixis one.
