Ephara's ability works well with flash and blinking/flickering, so this is the aim of the deck. Flash your creatures in or blink them, then draw a lot of cards. If we are keeping all this mana up to flash and blink when we need it, we might as well add a million counterspells that also put creatures out on our side too.

So far it's been pretty hard for my opponents to deal with. Maybe just because no one runs counters in my meta, but I suspect even if someone did, this deck could tussle with them. Aetherling is a beast that essentially reads (U: Flicker, draw a card) and Archeomancer is very easily abusable with blink and counterspells.

Missing some enchantment/artifact and creature removal and relying mostly on counters can be a weakness but hopefully the card advantage helps this. Not having to really ever protect my commander is an added and unexpected bonus as well.
