Maybeboard

Using energy counters in a longer more drawn out EDH game allows some interesting options for board wipes from Aethersquall Ancient. This is my first try at using energy counters like this and I am looking for feedback to see if this is even a viable deck.

What am I missing? Should I get away from a deck that has only one purpose, which is energy counters and getting a ton of creatures on the board?

So I finally got to play test this deck. This is what I learned...

  1. It ramps hard and fast with Chulane, but there is a lot of aggro when you put down a bunch of creatures, no matter how little they appear.

  2. I never had an issue with energy counters. There were plenty and I used Aether Ancient's board wipe a couple of times.

  3. It needs maybe one or two more big creatures to pull out for late game and more ways to use the energy counters. My creatures kept getting targeted for their abilities and wiped off the board. The group seemed very unsure about my stack of energy counters and targeted pretty much anything that moved on my board.

  4. It is also missing destroy effects. I was able to wipe the board of creatures effectively, but enchantments and artifacts held me back. I need to identify some cards to add those effects.

  5. No one liked Chulane on the board. Every other player targeted him the second he hit the board. The card draw is fantastic, but the hate is not.

  6. Still needs tweaking, but overall I am pretty happy with the deck.
