-1 altar of dementia, wake the dead, yavimaya elder, catacomb ssifter, phyrexian reclamation, grim feast +1 phyrexian altar, animate dead, bird of paradise, beast within, entomb, awakening zone

Rexapex, 8 years ago

Took out 2 Ulrich and a Hangarback, put in 2 Stitchers Graft and another Arlinn. Should make Arlinns +1 even more valuable. Hurts Duskwatch on the front side but the back makes equipping a 3 drop on turn 4 possible. Makes Magmatic and Lightning cheaper when discarding 3rd 4th or 5th lands because of the shorter curve. Makes the 1/1 human tokens 300% more dangerous. Makes Clear Shot and Blood Mist more valuable.

Sideboard

Added some removals, counters, etc. in the sideboard

mir13, 8 years ago

Moved towards mostly creatureless build. More mana rocks and planeswalkers to hopefully get to where I need to go. Also added sword of the meek combo as an extra out.

First FNM - 2-1 (well, actually 1-1)

EpicFreddi, 8 years ago

To clarify the title: After a loss in the first round, I got a bye.
Here's how it went down: Round 1 I played against affinity. I had a huge problem before the game because I couldn't finish my sideboard, but since we're all pretty close friends in our lgs, we said that we would board after game 2 if a game 2 were to happen, so I still had a chance. So after losing game one to a gigantic Etched Champion, I could snacht game two with my infinte combo of Archangle of Thune and Spike Feeder (after having 9 infect and 2 life). Game 3 was a quick loss after a mulligan to 3, let's not talk about that.
Round 2 was against Mono-U Tron. It was pretty simple: I lost game 1 to an ugin, won game 2 and 3 after a turn 3 Crumble to Dust.
Overall I had a blast. I really love this deck, but I'll tweak it a little more so it's perfect for my meta.
I'll also add Linvala, Keeper of Silence again to the deck because more people started playing abzan company and infect.

FNM#2: 8th. Place

Still need to figure out what to do against combo and other decks that don't commit a lot of non-land permanents to the board. **Round One: B/G Deathtouch Aggro--** 2-0
**Round Two: Mono-Blue Tron--** 2-0
**Round Three: Mono-Black Vampires--** 2-0
**Round Four: Naya Burn--** 0-2
**Round Five: Titan Shift--** 1-2
**Top Eight: Titan Shift--** 0-2

R,I.P Alesha and Moving Forward...

Enral, 8 years ago

Retired my Alesha, Who Smiles at Death due to having multiple decks with graveyard themes and converted her to Gisela despite being less competitive. I'm a control and combo player at heart but wanted to break out of my comfort zone and challenge myself in building an aggrocentric deck. It seems to be doing well and is surprisingly fun and exciting to pilot for the first few games I've tested so far and will be tweaking as I test her in more games.

First at FNM

Meavari, 8 years ago

Played at FNM tonight at my local game store and got first. We played 4 rounds and I ended with a total score of 8-2. Game One: Played against a homebrew Delirium deck. Wasn't a very competitive deck and he practically killed himself with Mindwrack Demon. 2-0 Game Two: Played one of the better players at our venue. He too played a G/B Delirium deck with Hangarback, Soul Swallower, Inexolerable Blob, etc. Round 1 starting hand was 2 Thalia, Heretic Cathar, Gideon, 2 Plains, and 2 tapped lands. Wasn't optimal starting hand but was okay with it as I really wanted Thalia, and Gideon out there and knew I had the mana to cast as well as had the draw. Ran with the game once Gideon was out and was able to played Thalia's Lancers and retrieve Avacyn. Won the round. Round two was a bust as I only practically drew Thalia's Lietenant, and got land flooded. Don't totally recall how round three went but won with always watching, Gideon, Gisela, 2 westvale cult leaders, and 4 tokens out. Game Three; Was a fast game. Opponent was playing werewolves. He usually plays a very competitive zombie deck but got bored with it as it was maxed out so this was an experimental deck. First round he didn't get anything big out. Just a bunch of small werewolves that he just chumped blocked with. Pacifism and decleration in stone got rid of most of them and made way for Gideon and Hanweir Garrison. Round two he got some damage in but now much. Same issue as before, just couldn't transform any of his werewolves. Game Four: Was a super frustrating and close round. Opponent was playing a mono-red deck using that 0/3 tap damage creature, devils, and various instants and sorceries to kill creatures and untap his creature to deal another point of damage to me. He won round 1 as he kept destroying all of my small creatures such as Thalia's Lieutenant and Hanweir Garrison with removal. I won round two sideboarding in Always Watching for Thalia's Lietenant. He played more creatures in round two but I was able to use Decleration in Stone and Pacifism on most of them until I got Gideon and Avacyn out. Won this round and the next doing the same thing pretty much.

Game play update

sonalexander, 8 years ago

I played in one of the best 4 player games of commander I have ever played just recently while using this deck. The game went super long, almost 3 hours and I was stunned at how well it kept up the pace. It had just the right amount of control and answers and ended up doing some really janky things in my hands. Near the end I had loads of mana out with a Seedborn Muse and Alchemist's Refuge in play, which let me take control of the game. Being able to flash in clones and copy Mystic Snake gave this deck an unreal amount of control. I ended up winning by using Rite of Replication kicked on my Avenger of Zendikar using Flash which gave me upwards of 90 plant tokens, followed by a flashed Explosive Vegetation. My turn rolled around and I played 3 more lands thanks to Oracle and a Sakura Tribe elder and proceeded to roll over the table with 90 massive plant tokens. Everyone has a really good time playing in that game too. But Zegana held her own quite well. I still have yet to see all the silly things this deck is capable of. Clones are just plain amazing to play with. Side Note - If you test draw this deck, or build it and just play solitary to get a feel for it. Understand it feels really boring solo. This deck has to be played in a pod in order for you to truly grasp how fun this deck can be. It's all of the copy and clone effects that happen. Give it a try, I promise you will have fun.

Removed Morbid Plunder

I removed Morbid Plunder because to getting creatures from the grave is not necessary and getting two swamps can be difficult sometimes.

x2 Elspeth Tirel to sideboard

I added x2 Elspeth Tirel to the sideboard so you can replace Conqueror's Pledge and get creatures and gain life more consistently.

With the much anticipated release of Conspiracy, Thespian's Stage has been replaced by Exotic Orchard and Ral Zarek has been replaced by Stunt Double. I may eventually put Ral back in and take out Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker but I haven't decided quite yet.

More fine tuning

Lilbrudder, 8 years ago

In playtesting I have been drawing way more lands than I can reasonably use. There have also been a few games where I have run out of gas. I also have not been happy to draw a Negate since 2 mana is just one too many for a counterspell for when I want to use one. As such I have made the following changes:

Reflecting Poolfoil --->Mystic Remora

Island --->Wild Growth

Negate --->Whispering Madness

Mystic Remora is a powerful draw engine in a competitive playgroup with all the tutors, countspells, removal and draw spells flying around on turns 1-3. This either slows down my opponents considerably or I draw a bunch of cards. Either is fine by me.

Whispering Madness: This just edged out Time Spiral due to it fitting in my ideal turn 3 curve. It also has the added benefit of completely stripping opponents hands the turn I cast it and and letting me dig 2 wheels deeper if I have an open opponent to attack with Leo the tun I cast it.

Wild Growth: Essentially another "1 drop mana dork" to help ensure a turn 3 mass hand destruction.

Quick Change

PookandPie, 8 years ago

Swapped Mentor of the Meek out for Recruiter of the Guard. Mentor was only good when forced into a fair game, while Recruiter should be able to help find most combo pieces since it can search up 25 different creatures in the deck.
