Conspiracy: Take the Crown Update!

+1 Recruiter of the Guard
-1 Greenwarden of Murasa
The thing I found with Greenwarden was that when I drew it, I rarely ever wanted to cast it if I had anything else to do. I feel like that shouldn't be a factor. In light of that, cutting it for the supremely powerful white Imperial Recruiter. This card feels unreal it's so good. Can't wait to get a foil.
Speaking of, I foiled out Marath for all of 12 hours last night! My friend found a foil Sword in the big city not far from me. Seeing how much this set is going to get opened, I'm confident I'll secure a foil.

Play Testing!
Itchimokuren, 8 years ago
After I had playtested the deck, I have discovered a possible way of making the deck a bit faster after with blood artist. The list is starting to look a bit better now. I might need to add more ways of speeding up the deck as well as possible creatures that I can benefit from. I went against Mono-Blue Merfolk as well as Grapeshot storm. I was able to contend with the Mono-Blue Merfolk deck only because of the spot removal that I have as well as my hand disruption. With Grapeshot Storm, however, I didn't do so well. I was able to play at least five games and they were all finished rather quickly. I didn't stand much of a chance.

Replace Vandalblast with Subterranean Tremors once that set is available.
1000!

Ooooooooh, we finally hit 1000 upvotes. Thank you all so much for liking this deck, no matter what deck I make, will this one always be my favorite. Now, if Wizards would just make some more squirrels, then that would be amazing. Once again, thank you all for your support <3!
Swaps!

Trading out:
Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth for Geier Reach Sanitarium
Corpse Harvester for Mesmeric Orb
Urborg wasn't needed since I'm mono black, meanwhile Sanitarium is a great card and facilitates my discard needs.
Harvester was very slow and if drawn would either not help my current situation, or could not improve and contribute to it. Orb was suggested to me and after acquiring one for my mill deck, I'm willing to try it!

Finally found the missing card for this deck, Bow of Nylea!
The bow does both of the things I needed, first it provides the lifegain I was missing and second it gives us a way to shuffle back basic lands into the library, which combined allows us to cut down on the basic lands and throw in some fetchlands and be more aggressive with our use of trade routes.
The deathtouch, buffing and anti flyer zapping are just bonuses on top of that, but very nice to have as well.

Dimir pauperisation
Skeraan, 8 years ago
I realized that almost everything was common, so I took out Meandering Towershell to make it pauper and I took out Predator's Strike so I don't need green lands anymore.
-2 Meandering Towershell -4 Predator's Strike -4 Aquitect's Will -4 lands
+2 Silburlind Snapper +2 Negate +2 Artful Dodge +4 Coat with Venom +4 Aspect of Gorgon

Can Somebody Playtest Deck
MikealDH1, 8 years ago
Can somebody please playtest the deck semi competitively at Cockatrice, Forge, in about 15 to 150 to 350 games, then report back results, so that can discuss, any problems, if they exist, that would need to be fixed, and to fine tune the deck? I am using my Galaxy S4 smart phone, so unless there is a app I am unaware of, I don't know how to do that, an or can't do that, so can anybody help with that please? It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks if anyone is willing to do that.

- Phyiscally play testing at an FNM every friday until Kaledesh's release. - WIll update the deck as time comes along. - If anyone else has these cards and are willing to test along with, that would be great! My goal here is to try and create the best spirits deck possible for the current Standard status, as well as the post rotation into Kaledesh! - Too busy as of now to update the decklist, (it will be when I have a day off of work)

Bitterblossom & Honor of the Pure & Shambling Vent
Nimbleturtle, 8 years ago
EDIT:
I've put the 3 Bitterblossom back in. They were just way too vital in the grindy match-ups. Raise the Alarm was great against the combo decks but it was just too lackluster against the high density creature decks.
One thing I learned was just how good Honor of the Pure is. I always preferred to have it over the 1 Spectral Procession that it replaced. It makes your card:Shambling Vents bolt-proof and basically a Tarmogoyf with lifelink. Shambling Vents has won me many games and I'd recommend it over any other alternative in Mardu colors.
I'm also considering Worship for the Merfolk and Dredge match-ups.

CN2 Update

-Somberwald Sage, +Selvala, Heart of the Wilds
This set was excellent for Xenagos!
Selvala fits perfectly into my game plan. She comes down on turn 3 and helps me cast Xenagos on turn 4. She turns all my big creatures into cantrips. She color fixes. Her ramping ability scales into the late game, consistently netting me 18+ mana on turn 6. Absolutely fantastic.
Not really much to say about Regal Behemoth. Comes down the turn after Xenagos. Monarch triggers during the end step so it basically cantrips. Double mana is always nice. Enables degenerate shenanigans if it survives a rotation. Very solid.
I've wanted Berserk for this deck for a very long time. Now it's finally within my price range! It stacks with double strike and provides a greater yield for cards like Greater Good and Selvala. It also functions as creature removal in a pinch.

I am aware of the expensive metas for modern landfall decks. Example, Scapeshift.
Don't bother suggesting cards like this. As a reference, this deck shouldn't exceed $75.

Test Run @ LGS Modern Night
AngryChewie, 8 years ago
Still very new to piloting the deck and went 1-3. Round 1: 2-0 win against Suicide Zoo. Opponent did most of the leg work and I was constantly 1 for 1'ing his threats. Round 2: 0-2 loss against Kiki-Chord. Opponent never actually was able to play Kiki. Instead, I got constantly beat in the face by Voice tokens and an overwhelming board state. Made terrible sideboard choices, too. Round 3: 1-2 loss against Merfolk. Match 1 went well with me grinding my opponent out. He made a major combat mistake which helped, too. Match 2 he got a chalice on 1 on turn 2 which I wasn't expecting at all. Way too many dead cards after that. Match 3 he used the hell out of that 2/2 flyer that counters the first spell/ability that targets a creature. Round 4: 1-2 loss against Dredge. Match 1 my opponent stomped. I had no way of sweeping away all of his creatures fast enough. Match 2 he did terrible on his draws and durdled for too long. Match 3 was really close with me exiling all of his amalgams and some other goodies thanks to Paths and an Anger of the Gods. Unfortunately, I drew way too many blanks in a row and he finished me off with Narco 1/1 beatdown before I could ult nahiri. Important Takeaway Points: - At least in this meta, going wide with creatures seems really popular. Because of this, I'm now going to mainboard a Supreme Verdict and 2x Anger of the Gods. - I was running out of fuel as matches got grindy. These scenarios usually favored me thanks to colonades, but I was wishing I had Ancestral Visions ticking down to help, too. - Electrolyze wasn't very helpful. - Cryptic Command also wasn't very helpful. It made the kiki-chord player play around it, but the delay it gave (if I even got it at a decent time or was able to successfully feign having it) never seemed helpful. Adding: 2x Anger of the Gods, 1x Supreme Verdict, 1x Hallowed Fountain, 3x Ancestral Visions. Removing: 1x Vendilion Clique (to sideboard), 1x Desolate Lighthouse, 1x Celestial Colonade, 2x Electrolyze, 2x Cryptic Command

More Hate, Update 1

I added the following cards to the deck: Gilded Lotus; All is Dust; Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre; Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur; Sphinx of the Final Word; Thran Dynamo; Mystical Tutor; Rhystic Study; Kozilek, Butcher of Truth; and, Cyclonic Rift and removed the following cards: Aeon Chronicler; Conduit of Ruin; Diluvian Primordial; Endbringer; Steel Hellkite; Tyrant's Familiar; Tamiyo's Journal; Steam Augury; Aether Gale; and, Archetype of Imagination I will have to do some work to the mana-base and need to make some changes to the sideboard.
Changed Direction. No more Raptors
Ashockfan, 8 years ago
-1 Distended Mindbender (moved to side)
-1 Grasp of Darkness (To balance out typing, swapped for another Dead Weight) -2 Vessel of Nascency
+3 Grapple with the Past (better than vessel)
+1 Dead Weight
+1 Grim Flayer (need 4)
+1 Pilgrim's Eye (fixing, artifact for typing, another emerge target.
After getting many others' opinions on the deck, I've concluded that the Den Protector - Deathmist Raptor package was not right for the deck, and those slots are needed elsewhere to further the delirium side of the deck. also, we needed the grapples and the ishkanah to function properly,

Still not entirely dead - a break, perhaps.

Adding:
- Defense Grid - Should be a great deterrent to counters and to shit in general.
Removing:
- Imp's Mischief - Not as good as hoped. Really don't like it as much as I should.
