Hello friends! First, I realize Uncle Istvan is not legendary and therefore not a legal commander. My playgroup is casual, and they all excitedly gave their permission to build around him.

This deck portrays Uncle Istvan as a psychotic, homicidal hermit who stalks the frozen woods around his cabin searching for trespassers. When he finds them, he rends their flesh with the nearest farm tool he can grab, Blight Sickle , Thirsting Axe , Hammer of Ruin , or Scythe of the Wretched . Istvan then buries his victims beneath his cursed cabin that they may rise again From Under the Floorboards . Istvan's endgame is to hack his opponents to death with commander damage. He does this either accompanied by an Army of the Damned , or solo as the last creature standing due to a devastating Descent into Madness , which he affords by having more cards, artifacts, or tokens to lose than his opponents.

I had a blast making this deck. I really hope you enjoy the idea, and maybe even consider building Uncle Istvan for yourself. Please leave any comments or suggestions with your thoughts or recommendations for injecting even more fun, flavor, or power into the deck.

Favorite Synergies in the deck: Grappling Hook + Thirsting Axe turns Istvan into a Roadhog, Stitches, or Pudge type character. Grappling Hook + Scythe of the Wretched lets me shop for opponents' creatures that I'd like to control. From Under the Floorboards + Mask of Memory for that sweet draw and lots of zambies on the discard. Army of the Damned + From Under the Floorboards to outlast opponents on the Descent into Madness triggers. Lastly, Ward of Bones just makes everything more personal, and Istvan is almost certainly going to be the biggest creature on the board.
