I reckon you should be running Meekstone

As Foretold is nice but you don't need it, you have a low CMC, late game it's useless

Thank you! I totally agree, Meekstone is awesome. I will try to take my hands at some of them. Do you have any ideas how can I take "combo-advantage" of Wall of Kelp.

October 31, 2018 7:24 a.m.

you should replace Retribution of the Meek with Citywide Bust

why should I?

I would take out Steel Shaper's gift. You only have two equipment and even though you could use it help protect one of your creatures it is not needed.

Thanks for that advice. But I get often problems versus decks with lot of removals, so I think this is the only way to protect my commander. And without him, the whole deck is useless, I guess...? Do you have some ideas to contest against removals without equipment's?

Cool deck!

I am bringing suggestions from my own build, We Don't Need No Education

For your protection issues with your commander: Shalai, Voice of Plenty and Kira, Great Glass-Spinner are good creature-type shields; I also run Diplomatic Immunity and Privileged Position .

Hope this helps!

PS: Also we have a nice card coming in Ravnica Allegiance, High Alert !

Hey Heliogabale,

firstable, I want to say sorry, for answering your suggestion that late. So what do we have here, I added High Alert already, founded at the prerelease. I don't have Shalai, Voice of Plenty , Kira, Great Glass-Spinner or Privileged Position . But your are right, especially Privileged Position , seems like awesome. I try to get my hands on some of them. I think Oathsworn Giant is too expensive for its impact. I have to think about him. But Bident of Thassa looks really interesting.

Thanks a lot about you suggestions!! :)

Don't worry about timing, we all have lives and this is a hobby! :)

If you are on a budget, Shalai is really affordable and should suit your purpose well. I am glad you like the idea of the Bident, I was really happy I thought of it for this deck.

I see you have many German cards, are you located in Germany?

Well, our communication has time-delayed, but does matter I hope. Yes, from Germany. You? I saw in your deck: Azor, the Lawbringer , does he really work in this deck? For me, the most games are really fast 1v1, so I think, than he is not really necessary. And in Multiplayer, quite a lot removal, that I think a removaled wall is better than a Azor, found in my graveyard this way. I also saw: Future Sight , I don't have it, but I like the idea a lot. I have Magus of the Future , I know he isn't that great than an enchantment, but I wanna try the effect. I also going to add: Azorius Signet , Selesnya Signet and Diplomatic Immunity , Serra's Blessing and maybe an Harrow in addition with some small landbase changes. What do you think about it? I always looking for a Bident of Thassa , but nobody has it. :/ Maybe I have to buy it.

And maybe you have some ideas, what could go out. Cause still thinking. :]

I am from Montreal, but I have family in Germany, although I don't get to go as often as I would like. I have not met many players from there, it is nice to have a diverse view on the game!

To answer your first question honestly, there are people who have different play style; some are aggro, some are combo... I am greedy. This is often my downfall, but when I see something with a big potential I can't resist the urge. I have not had a chance to test this deck as much as I would like, but effectively this card may end up making place to something else, perhaps your suggestion of Profaner of the Dead .

Of course if you play 1vs1 the signets and some ramp is definitely a good idea, as well as keeping the mana curve low. If you think about it, none of your 5 or 6 CMC cards are essential to your deck, and could be replaced with 3 or 4 CMC.

Because of that I think Serra's Blessing is right for you. You could also add tutors for you High Alert, like Sterling Grove and Enlightened Tutor , a few pillows like Propaganda and Ghostly Prison or some counterspells.

Go an buy the Bident already, it costs 0,40 Euro! :)

Cheers,

Well, I hope you can buy your cards in germany,. Often I hear about the enormous card-prices in the us. Is it the same in canada?

Yeah, you are right, but I am a very big fan, exchanging card. I mean, everybody has a big basic equipment of bulk rares, un-& commons and I can buy a 40cent card, or try to interchange it with person who needs something from me. For me, it's one of the elementary processes in playing magic. But you are right, sometimes, you have to buy the stuff. :>

About the changes: I play multiplayer much more often than 1v1, but I think also in multiplayer games, it is very important to have Arcades early on the board. And I play multiplayer as well as 1v1, so I have to build a deck which performs well in both gametypes. About Serra's Blessing , in my opinion, vigilance is, especially in multiplayer, great. I also think about adding Reconnaissance but I have only one and it's in my Licia, Sanguine Tribune -Deck. So I took Serra for the moment. About Propaganda and Ghostly Prison , there is no doubt, they are great, but Propaganda is already in my nekusar-deck and Ghostly Prison in my licia-deck, on which I both working in the moment. xD I don't think I need the enchantment tutor, cause I draw a lot of cards to find one of these. But I have them, so maybe I change my mind later. :D By the way, I took out Mentor of the Meek and Assault Formation , cause both never performed that well.

Thank you for the suggestions, I appreciate it a lot!

Hello, your deck looks quite good but I'd make a little changes here and there:

  • First of all, you probably don't need these 6 CMC cards as they come really late and don't impact the board that much. It would make room for Beast Whisperer and Orator of Ojutai that you have in maybeboard
  • Also Tempt with Discovery ? 4 CMC is where your curve actually ends so you don't need that much ramp, especially when your 2 CMC ramp package is alright. If you can afford Breeding Pool and Canopy Vista you can easily set yourself up with Nature's Lore .
  • For another 2 CMC ramp swap - Gatecreeper Vine is not that great, you're waaay better off with Sylvan Caryatid , you won't belive how many times it's hexproof screwed my opponents tring to remove it.
  • Another little swap - Tower Defense is way cheaper than Solidarity . But if you want to swap it or use both its up to you. Maybe I'd cut Slagwurm Armor for another copy of this effect because artifact is easy to remove compared to instant speed combat trick.
  • For further lowering curve I'd add some utility walls: Resolute Watchdog is amazing for protecting commander and Portcullis Vine alongside Wall of Mulch make great card draw engine (use them with Wall of Kelp tokens or defenders that are about to die and... thank me later xD)
  • As you lower the curve maybe you won't need signets. Also I see you lack some interaction in form of counterspells but I guess your playgroup isn't that removal heavy.
That's it from me, hope this helps. Let me know what you think about these changes and take care

i think your dragon needs a throne from which to make his executive orders. Dragon Throne of Tarkir is amusing, your commander gets defender, so it hits harder and cuz its vigilance, it can buff all your walls post-swing.

Hey guys, thanks for the suggestions and advices.

@Vlasiax: I do agree with your first point. Or better, I agree with almost every point. But, I will take some changes in the next week and see what we can do. The most about your suggestions is about lowering the cmc-curve. And I think thats a good idea. :D

@majorappliance: I totally agree with the throne in general. A dragon king needs a throne! But Dragon Throne of Tarkir does +3/+3 for 9mana, is this correct? I think that a bit slow for the impact? :/

March 5, 2019 7:07 a.m.

hey now, some thrones are purely decorative...

Looks pretty good, now I'd probably get better mana base and some better defenders from your Maybeboard :)

However how is Magus of the Future performing? Is it really worth running?

Also for turn 1 play I'd suggest Brainstorm as it helps with too much or not enough lands / defenders in hand

March 14, 2019 1:54 a.m.

semsandberg says... #21

Well, Magus of the Future needs some testing. I draw him once and it was great! About Brainstorm I have to think about it. I have the feeling, that I dont need Brainstorm, accept at the beginning. But not sure.

Thanks for the suggestions :)

Also if you like, check out my Sidisi the Land reanimator-deck. :D

March 14, 2019 3:12 a.m.

Vlasiax says... #22

Brainstorm might be useful even late game because you might trade 2 useless cards (like lands, when you have like 8 of them on the battlefield already) for 3 brand new. I'm still not convinced to use Windfall so draw 3 put back 2 is safer option for me. Also imagine this: you have 3 mana open and someone tries to blow out the board - with Brainstorm you dig 3 cards for Negate or Counterspell to stop this and everything at instant speed. Same situation with 4 mana open and looking for Ghostway / Eerie Interlude or Teferi's Protection .

Same thing although requiring a little more cash is with Sylvan Library . These 2 I play myself and they really help with consistency and draw quality, just don't be too greedy with 4 life per draw from Library and you should be fine :D

I also forgot to mention another fast interaction with Nature's Claim . 4 life for an opponent is sometimes really annoying when you just blow the best stax or another important part of their deck for only .

March 14, 2019 4:08 a.m.

semsandberg says... #23

Well, yes Brainstorm is pretty awesome, if you can dig something nice. But as you mention, for this I should have more control and to react in instant speed I only have 3. xD I will take this in mind. For later changes, but I took the Marble Titan , Serra's Blessing , Murmuring Phantasm and Wall of Mist out and add Nature's Claim , Reality Shift , Swords to Plowshares and Tower Defense .

Cheers!

Hey guys,

after ages I had some time to did some small changes and add the Bident of Thassa also an Amaranthine Wall and a Grasslands for a Plains, Vine Trellis and Wall of Deceit .

What do you think?

Hexapod says... #25

Good changes in my opinion, but you may want to look at what is available in War of the Spark and make a few more. :)

Huatli, the Sun's Heart and Teyo, the Shieldmage are good synergies with the theme. Personnally I also added Kasmina, Enigmatic Mentor as a protection.
