  • possible interaction with Blade of Selves (CM2) copy tokens, but that has super complex timing interactions between the legend rule, state based actions vs etb trigger resolutions relating to the creature triggering them, and that his ability uses the term "any number of" instead of targeting... (I'm removing the card as this is way too much of a headache to be worth it...)

Tries to create a huge value engine by repeatedly flickering its commander. Doing this banishes most of its permanents in exchange for soldier tokens and then they repeatedly reenter the battlefield to trigger ETB effects & generate more soldiers.

Alternate Backgrounds - Inspiring Leader (if it proves to be easy enough to reliably flicker him) - Scion of Halaster + Howling Mines (Orzhov card filtering focus) - Agent of the Iron Throne + Aristocrats focus (Orzhov Aristocrats)

I'm specifically not using permanents with instantly returning flickers such as Felidar Guardian and Restoration Angel. These turn this commander from an interesting engine into an and easy degenerate combo win, which is not what I want. By having all flicker sources either return him at the end of turn or be one time use instants, it takes just enough time to keep things fair and sane. Many of the return-at-beginning-of-end-step flickers includes my opponent's end steps so his power scales with the size of the table once he gets going, but that's one thing White really needs to help with...
